Have a really solid introduction prepared. Also, research a bit about the context of the event. For e.g. if I was going to an AI networking event and there were 3 speakers, I would research the topics of discussion for each speech. The most important thing is to just be yourself, have a good time, and expect nothing in return from anyone.
I think I found my lost brother, I did the same exactly 4 years ago, I feel like I'm in a way better place than my friends and everyone who said it was a bad decision
