  • First in a few videos showing some techniques to use the ToLiss A321 Autopilot in X Plane 11! This part we look at climbing.
I am a real world Airbus pilot with thousands of hours flying the real aircraft and thought it would be fun to have a look at the new detailed simulation of the longest baby 'bus by Toliss. Hopefully you find this useful and it brings another perspective to your simulation. Any thoughts or comments are welcome!

Thank you I have had it for so long now but never knew how to change the speed and heading and stuff because of the up and down arrows, they were new to me at the time. You are the first one to explain that you need to use scroll wheel. thank you

Coming from the B737-800 i have been really confused by the Airbus (actually i'm flying the A319 from ToLiss) even if at a second glance the entire set of controls seems to be much more straight and easy. Your video is really well done and fully explanating in a plain way. Thank you so much.

That's a brilliant explanation of how to use the autopilot to climb as i was struggling to understand what was happening with the aircraft. Thanks alot mate. Followed, liked and subscribed.

Thank you very much for this great Autopilot tutorial. This has really helped my understanding.
I was flying XP11 today and just after take off I accidentally knocked a button on my joystick and this action took my A319 Toliss off the MCDU route.
I did not know how to get the aircraft back on route. There are normally the 3 white dots on the AP panel but I only had 1 for the speed.
I could not get my head around what to do and could not redirect the plane back on the NAV route. I got further and further away. Nooooo....Unfortunately I bottled it and had to re-start the flight.
Your video clearly explains the steps which should be taken if that happens again. I will take a test flight to make sure I understand these steps should this happen again. Thank you 😉

I really enjoy your videos. Very informative! I do have a question, though: It's about auto pilot. I notice before takeoff you set the first expected altitude. This is so that all you'll have do is engage AP/Alt once airborne. This doesn't seem to work for me (1-dot, 2-dot; it doesn't matter). I can't seem to get it to work the way you do. Is there something specific that needs to happen in order to enable it to engage once airborne? Thanks in advacne.

Hi Rick, thanks for your comment. Are you using the ToLiss? It is a bit hard to diagnose but if you have an altitude that is above your current one when you takeoff then the aircraft should level off there. Make sure when you takeoff you have 'CLB' or 'ALT' written in blue on the PFD, this shows the aircraft has armed those modes.

Hey I'd like to ask you something, does the weather radar on this aircraft even work? Because I've been flying for 10 hours on this thing and it never shows. Great video BTW!

      1. Have you definitely got it turned on (as some people seem to think it’s automatic)
      2. Are you flying in stormy conditions using X-Plane 11 weather where there are rain/storm clouds that would show up

I am still transitioning from Zibo 737-800 and therefore i have a habit of setting the V2 speed into the autopilot (but i dont turn on A/T yet), the altitude of the 1st waypoint and the runway magnetic heading. After taking off retracting the gear and flaps a notch i immediately hit the LNAV and CMD and i just have to manage the V/S since VNAV isn't really that accurate.
When i took off for the first time in an Airbus, i was confused where is the LNAV button. The A/T seems to not respond to the preset speed. Since i am taking off wrom WIII 07L with heading 068 i went off course quite far until i could figure what is going on 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Will an open climb ignore altitude constraints?

    • @320SimPilot
      @320SimPilot  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Yes, OP CLB will climb to the FCU selected altitude.
