    best vid so far on oil changing the TB. I'm anti-mechanical - so glad to know how the oil dripping is typical from this. I had oil dripping from the skid plate - and had the seals changed for the pinion seal. It had to get torqued properly to stop the leak. So it took a few times to get it right - at the dealer. haha. Oh well. No more leaks! They wanted to change that inside differential seal on the intermediate shaft - which is a $1200 job or something. So I bought the seal part because it HAS to be OEM otherwise people take the whole front axle apart to put in a leaking new seal! Then keep doing that again till they figure out they need an OEM seal. haha. OH so then the local mechanic put in the ultraviolet tracer for oil - but he had me look at the seal. It was NOT leaking as the dealer had claimed. oops! So I did not even check the ultraviolet tracer because I've had no leaks since after the local mechanic CLEANED up the oil really good. haha.

    Excellent video showing everything from a to z on the Trailblazer oil change. All the safety details about jack stands, Tire chocks, as well as good details on everything. A lot of first time DIY folks are going to absolutely love all the details on tools required, oil type, Etc.
    Good recommendation on the oil type as well. That is excellent Valvoline oil indeed. Long Live your Trailblazer and find New roads. LoL
    Thank you kindly sir.

    NEVER EVER, use an impact wrench to remove your oil drain plug or oil filter unless you want to strip the threads on your oil pan and then need to replace it.

    Power tools and oil changes don’t go together. Oil filters are made of thin metal and can collapse if torqued enough. They should only be hand tight. But to each their own. Good video other than that

    You helped me greatly with my rear hatch,tnx, next is me learning about changing the oil filter....are there different sizes, brands,quality wrenches for different oil filters or is there an industry standard for this? I have a 2005 Trailblazer with the 4.2 motor. What oil filter wrench do you recommend? tnx

      Go with high quality products always. You will thank yourself when your truck runs 300k + miles. Pays for itself. And on the filter tool any oil filter tool that fits your filter will do just fine, remember always hand tighten oil filters. And by hand tighten I mean grip that Mfker and twist as hard as you can with your hand and that does the job perfectly. Kudos

    Do you fill transmission thru dip stick on this car if it’s low! There know plugs on transmission pan and I plan to flush in a couple weeks but can you fill thru dipstick?

    • @savorwithdmurph1113

      Yes, that’s how I add transmission fluid. You need one of the extended, pointy funnels. Check out some videos on adding transmission fluid on TH-cam 👍 this video is about oil.

    Please don’t use power tools to do an oil change. Good for changing the drain plug gasket. You should wipe a bit of oil on the oil filter seal l, it helps it last longer, also fill the oil filter before you instal it.

      So my Hanes guide said to start the car but not turn on the ignition then depress the gas pedal 3 times in 5 seconds.

      @savorwithdmurph1113  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      A video about how to lower the seats? You pull forward the seat cushions (they have a handle underneath) then the backrest will fall forward.

      I think they make the job easier. I just don't have any. Be sure to put your car in park/use e-brake and buy those tire stoppers that keep the car from rolling if you use ramps. Safety first =)
