The biscuit bits that you showed are also good for cutting slots in jambs with integrated stops that need weather strips installed.

Grear idea, I'm still wondering how to rabbit that small slot in a stop that is 3/16" high, without scoring the jamb face ?
I would love to be able to router a slot in existing frames installed in homes to upgrade to modern weather stripping solutions.

A few years ago, you had casually mentioned you had 5 of those cute Dewalt routers. My eyes got big as I had none at that time. Since following your trade education videos, I now own six. They are set up with six different bits to do the detailed operations on my current job ... and have been like this for two months. I understand your business and work-flow philosophy, Spencer. Thank you for creating this useful video.👍

I often create ofset template bits by just purchasing 1/4 or 1/2 bore bearings and adding them to straight bits with a stop collar. The problem you had with the multi step jig can be got over by simply adding more bearings to the shank as long as the bits shank is long enough.

No wasted bits included, one can do a lot of finish trim work with this basic kit demonstrated.
Thank you fro the spiral bit update and description.
We who are lucky to own 3D printers are making our own templates, a significant boost to production, and customised templates that are easy to print , once designed.

I am building 90” x 35” custom storage cabinets for a customer . That cabinet door weighs as much as a reg 6/8x2/8 door ! So I found 2 1/4” HD ball bearing cabinet door hinges where I can swing it with 3 hinges! However I had to make a specialty jig and use a mortising bit top bearing and special Door Bucks to set it in while I route ! I made the routing template from plywood and can stack MDF 1/4”, 1/2” on top depending on my router and bit.
Problem solving Spencer! I hv learned so much from you!

I like using that Freud down cut bit but swapping the 5/8 bearing out with a 1/2” bearing. It cuts so much better with that shear angle on the cutting edge.

Good advise but there is a catch with this plan. I use desiccant for my 3d printing filament storage and use a hydrometer in each box. I have tried the "reuse the ones that come with stuff" method. I found that almost all of it was used up. As some have mentioned you can recharge some types, but when reusing you will get a variety of different types... Best bet is to buy desiccant in bulk and put em in little bags. You can put them in the oven to recharge. Most change colour to let you know it's time.

Good vid. Only thing I do differently is I always pack a 3-1/4 hp but I do a ton of round details with a big compass set up.
I love the biscuit slot cutters. I have started using them a lot especially if you have a joint that you need to come back to like base to stair skirts. If you have adjusted the biscuit jointer between times it's hard to line it up again. I just leave it without a slot till it's time to come back and hit it with the router.

I come across this frequently. I choose the lesser of two evils...and split the difference between a gap at the ceiling and non parallel lines with the top rail. For me, I let the customer know I can't make chicken soup out of chicken poop....but, I can make a pretty good stew.😂 I just be up front with my customer and it works out...yup, still not perfect, but we seem to always meet in the middle.

I found your channel whilst looking at options for perfect mitres on long sections. Now binge watching your videos. A wealth of valuable and practical information. Wood is now so expensive here in the UK. I want to build mono stringer staircase with open treads. Essentially, box making with mitres on all sides. Likewise for the stringer. I will use your ‘perfect mitres’ video to guide the process. Have you made mono stringer stairs? If so, a video on tips would be appreciated. Thank you for your work.
