@@SimplyAquascaping It looks amazing and the quality looks pretty decent but i agree with your review of it. I think some other companies will get some similar stuff on to the market and do very well at lower price points. Mini canisters with lilly pipes are the way to go these days. Nothing in the tank. I'd even like to see them get a heater into them as well.
@@SimplyAquascaping It's precision machined stainless steel... so it's pretty pricy to make something like this, especially outside of Asia. My guess is that some Chinese company is probably going to produce a clone within a year that won't be built to quite to the same standard (I've seen one in person, the fit and finish were exquisite), but will be about 80% of the way there for half the price.
For close to the same price or same price when on sale you could get an oase biomaster 250 or 350. Actually the 350 is on sale for 224 right now. The price on this uns canister is insane.
It’s absolutely absurd. Especially because if you can source a stainless container with a latching, sealing lid (which is easily done), you can make one of these for $60 max. And that’s with nice stainless fittings and good quality mini pump. I actually did this, just not THAT small since my smallest tank is 7 gallons. AND if you build two, it makes a BADASS continuous gravel vac. I use it all the time and it’s a game changer.
I saw one of these the other day at my local aquascaping store... they had it on a very small cube aquarium (with a few very tiny fish). It was an extremely striking design, and I immediately wanted one for my betta tank, but I also had to wonder how practical it was.
If it was priced anywhere in a range from 50-75 $(€) I would get it (maybe). It looks stylish and I love the minimalist design. I would never buy it at the current price. I am sure UNS will sell them and only time will tell how many pieces. Of course if I was given one as a present from UNS I wouldn't say no haha. Cheers and Merry Christmas.
I love the design of it and I think it's super cool how small it is. Still just can't get over the price. Maybe on day they'll lower it. Merry Christmas to you as well!
I saw this filter in person and I definitely want one ...tho price is steep. My concerns are the amount and size of threads. They are very tight and small, they seem susceptible to damaging/and cross threading. Also the longevity of the pump itself. But I hope to get one soon. Pro tip. Get a 50-60ml plastic syringe (with catheter tip) to start a siphon with them little hoses.
I think you'll have to treat it with care like glass lily pipes. I'm curious to see how it holds up over time. I'll definitely keep the syringe idea in mind if I have trouble starting it again.
I’m a big fan of how small it is. I’m curious though, so you think it could handle slightly larger tanks? I’m contemplating buying the UNS 5N and the specs for this filter say it can handle up to 2.6gal. Do you think it can handle larger tanks? Or, do you think maybe the 32oz filter would be fine with a smaller tank for a little bit more $?
I think the biggest difference would be the flow rate. The 32oz has an output of 55 gallons per hour, where the 6oz only does 15 gallons per hour. From how I've observed the 6oz filter I think that putting it on a 5N would be pushing it's limits. In my honest opinion if you're going to go any larger than 2 gallons I'd grab the 32oz canister. It's always better to over filter your tank than to under filter it in my opinion.
I could have cut them, but then if I ever wanted to put it in a spot that isn't next to the tank I might not have the length needed. Better safe than sorry I think.
This is true, and realistically in the future I'll move the media higher up in the chamber. For the videos sake I did it on the bottom so the camera could see what's happening.
Ridiculously small. I have an enormous oase filter. I clean it every 3 months or so. This has got to be weekly maintenance, particularly with fine filter floss, which will rapidly clog up.
I've had it for about three weeks now and haven't opened it since filming the video. So far I haven't noticed anything in terms of flow, but I am curious to see how it looks inside now....Maybe I'll crack it open today!
I think you are having problems starting the siphon because it's at the same level as the aquarium. I have never seen a canister filter that you can use that's sitting next to your aquarium. Looks like it's made with super quality materials.
Yes I agree on that. I think if I didn't have the tank on my desk or had it near the edge of my desk it would be an entirely different story. The material it's made of is super nice!
im using a oase filter smart 60 on my 60x30x30cm tank and its sat behind it on the same level and it works fine. ive seen green aqua do the same with a couple of their nano tanks. i think it depends on the canister filter. what could have made it easier is having a cap on the top where you can prefill the canister before starting it like the smart 60, or plug the outlets and prefill from the bottom when adding the media
I agree. I'm not sure that I like how it opens from the bottom. Maybe there are some trademarks or something they couldn't work around with the top opening.
OMG $200 for that. Why?! What in production could cost so much (made in China?) to charge $200 for a small filter? These niche aquatic companies need to reign it in.

It really isn’t a bad filter. I think it’s a fun thing to have, I just don’t know why it could be so expensive.

Wow, I was expecting it to be (maybe) $50... It looks great, but $200 is wild!
yeah for real
Yeah it’s a bit steep. Great little filter though

Sweet little filter, just way overpriced!

So far I'm in love with it, it's sleek and powerful for it's size. If the price doesn't bother you I highly recommend you try it out!
@@SimplyAquascaping I can’t say I’m immune to the price, but I was expecting it to be expensive from the moment I saw it. 😅

It’s this kind of pricing that make Chinese clones SO appealing. They could sell these for $60 a pop and still make massive profit.

The link is not working
Your microphone is single channel on the left side, while the background music is dual channel. Just a heads up!
Oh no way! I have no clue what I’m doing with audio and knew something sounded off, so I’ll look into this! Thank you 🙏

Thank you; I didn't realize UNS released this unit. I love the execution, but the pricing has me too.
It's such a awesome little piece of equipment. I think that UNS dropped it a couple of weeks ago.
If the UNS mini CO2 regulator is anything to go by, I would assume its a rebadged chinese unit that is available for significanlty cheaper
Should the tubes be shorter?
I could have cut them, but then if I ever wanted to put it in a spot that isn't next to the tank I might not have the length needed. Better safe than sorry I think.
Amazing and lovely quality, well worth it..
It is a really great filter. Been running it for 3 weeks now and have no complaints outside of my original cons.
Wow I paid around 150 for a Sicce Space Eco but it can work with up to 80 gallons..They're definitely high cappin..lol
I think it's a fantastic filter, but I still don't understand the price. Maybe it's because of the materials they used or something.
Ideally you would want the bio media on the top of the filter can so it doesn't get clogged with detritus.
This is true, and realistically in the future I'll move the media higher up in the chamber. For the videos sake I did it on the bottom so the camera could see what's happening.
Newbie here. Like on top of the stainless plate? Thanks in advance.
Super premium look. Thanks for the video

Perfect filter if u want the premium look but with that price u can get like three Oase Filtosmart 60s which are bigger.
Indeed. I'm hoping that one day the price gets lowered to make the equipment more affordable to others
Would you purchase the same thing in plastic if it were cheaper? That might be a decent compromise imo. Cool product though.
I think I would. It's a great little filter and does it's job well.

@@SimplyAquascaping gotta save some pennies first :)

Sponge filter is the way to go!
Haha I'm not a big fan of sponge filters, but if it's what floats your boat then go for it!
I'm not paying 200 bucks for a nano filter. It's madness!
For that price you may as well spend another $50 and get an OASE 250

Forget it the price made me run for the hills.
Outside of the price it's a fantastic little filter. Maybe one day the price will go down a bit
Landen makes the exact same filter but cheaper. Exact same both copy’s of ADA Superjet though
Indeed. It's a great little filter though. I've definitely enjoyed having it on my tanks.
pls fix audio. I see you addressed it by another commenter but yeah
Yep…planning on that haha. Audio is a level of work I need to learn more about.
$199.99 is too cheap..UN should go for $999.99... maybe titanium body i think..
Haha
You set it up wrong the bio media should be at the top.
Whoa! I was all in until I saw the price tag. Hard pass.
If it was cheaper I'd already own 5 of them haha.
Smaller the filter the less media, the more rubbish it is. This is a typical case of design over function. I find this thing pretentious.
That's too expensive, really please stop that music it's annoying
voice in my right ear and music in my left ear gives me nausea
Way over priced
I do agree that it is a little too high on the price scale. Hopefully it'll come down in price as it settles into the market
Barbie filter 😂
It seems to be about that size haha
