What are some tips/advice you have to help aspiring music majors with their college selections/auditions?

Don't be shy, be confident and just go for it!

Thank you for this video! It's helped some. Though I wish I knew what programs I was going to be entering before this year. End of ny grade 11 year I started considering music therapy, and now I'm currently applying. I plan on having the auditions done by mid January, I haven't had much time before that to prepare. However, I'm only applying to two different schools. Only one school in my region has a music therapy program and I'd be moving ~5 hours away from home. However a college in my area has affilations in the music department of that university, so I'm also applying to that college as well. Then I'd be able to enter 3rd year Bachelor of Music then take an extra year to get a certificate of music therapy.
I wish I was more prepared, but I'm gonna do my best in the coming weeks to prepare. My high school band teacher also works at the college and said he will be one of two people in the audition, so that may help as he knows me and my playing fairly well.
I'm also gonna take this advice for my sister, who is only in junior high and considering pursuing a Bachelor of Music Education. I'm also gonna see if, considering we're in a better financial state than we were a couple years back, if we're able to get her into private lessons. I've never taken private lessons, however I think it would be good to give her the opportunity if possible. I might also try to take some private lessons in the spring/summer when my schedule is less busy!
