    On the USA side your box will go on a conveyor through an Xray and this could result in a search of your box. Example, a guy i know sent a box full of used laptop computers. This is obviously a commercial quantity, and this is not allowed per balikbayan rules, so it was rejected back to the shipper. Balikbayans are limited to quantities for personal use only, so use judgement on how many of any one items you include.

    The taxes are extreme by the time i pay the USA 33% income tax, then 8% sales tax on an item, and then 50 to 60% or more on the items value by the PH gov't; it ends up a pathetic end reward for the hard work of an honest job. The money i pay toward sales tax and to the RP for their exorbitant fees, all is paid by my after income tax money. This all encourages me to be a minimalist and forgo material things. Better if gov't would just shear the sheep rather than slaughter the sheep. Sheesh.

      I agree, it’s shameful how much of our money that we are forced to give others.

    I was about to ask about Shipping to Greece and then Marc says only to the Philippines. Oh well. Is he shipping items or shipping like all your belongings? I actually did some research into container ship transport all our things to Greece from Australia. The cost in Australian dollars started from $10,000 and up depending on how many cubic feet you had in boxes and/or if you wanted a part container or a full container. In the end for the larger items it's easier to buy at your destination. :)

      You can ship anything and any weight as long as it fit in the 24 by 24 by 17. For 110 usd I have also check into containers shipping it just too much, starting at 10000 also. We plan on shipping just our personal items over and there anything we need

      One thing is good in Atlas shipping because you paid the size of the box you wanting to ship and the weight doesn’t matter. It’s by box not by weight. It’s take 2-3 months to be in Philippines

      @thephilippineamericancouple  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To find local shippers, just go atlas.com and look for shippers in you are. Plus most Asian stores has information. Atlanta is a big area, you will have many options I would think. www.makatiexpress.com is another company there in Atlanta area

    A knee high box to a Filipina can be a pretty small box. Shoebox sized. 🤣 Because we couldn't make it to the Philippines this year we wanted to send a box home for Christmas. However my unexpected quintuple open heart bypass in early September occupied us to the point where we missed the deadline. We prefer not to ship money because there is no way to avoid squabbling within the family over the distribution of it. I told the wife the address on the box last spring wasn't going to be sufficient to get it to her home, but she was adamant it was all that was needed. she was right and I was wrong. Being here outside Chicago we have our choice of about 30 or 40 stores and multiple companies we can ship with, including one just right down the street from us.

      First we hope you are doing better. We have one option here, good thing he’s a friend. We will” be shipping 20 boxes in the next couple months. As soon as we get a little settled. Money can be tricky that’s for sure. Hopefully you guy will be able to go back next year. Stay healthy and warm.
