Strange as it might seem, here in Brazil there's an annual Confederate Celebration held by descendants of Southerners who emmigrated to Brazil after the Civil War. The Confederate battle flag is their symbol to this day. But they forbid any form of racist or Nazi symbols at the celebration.

The Confederate states even offered to free all their slaves if those countries would recognize them as an independent country. The "Emanicipation Proclamation" was used as a military tactic. Also, there were already 250,000 freed slaves before the war in the south, several black plantation owners even owned their own slaves. Get a better history lesson numb nuts.

Man, I hung a Confederate flag & American flag outside on the 4th of July to celebrate my 21st Birthday & Independence Day. There were No reactions, No complaints, Just a group of Family & friends that came over having a good time & sure did love those flags. Heck, My black buddy was invited over there & he loved those flags & had a good time.

Conservatives believe in small government, state and individual rights, and protecting traditional economic and social values. Democrats succeeded from what they called a tyrannical government because they were worried federal power would take away states' rights to own slaves and expand slavery, which was a traditional function of their economy. Republicans wanted to use federal power to pass progressive legislature limiting the expansion of slavery and states' rights to mandate slavery. If you know what the word "conservative" means, then you know democrats used to be conservative. And plus if people are so hung up on southern heritage, what's their problem with democrats? One time I went to see a lawyer because of a DUI. When I walked in his office, he had two large paintings of the Confederate flag on his wall. She fails to realize that freedom of speech triumphs over others comfort as what he is doing is not violating anyone else's rights. Most of my family during the civil war were from states like Missouri and Kentucky. I had family that fought for the Union and Confederacy from those states. I'm proud of both sides of my heritage because they fought for what they believed in. While I do personally believe that slavery was wrong, slavery and racism weren't completely what the Confederacy was about. It was about having freedom to live the way they wanted to and to not conform to what 50 percent wanted.
First off the flag he so proudly displays opposite side of the Stars and Stripes did really become a meaning for Southern Pride until about 4 years ago. @Dixon Please atleast get your facts straight. The battleflag was not the 3rd rendition of the Confederate Flags. It was never adopted officially. The first was the Stars and Bars. The 2nd was changed because it resembled the enemies flag on the battlefield and they adopted and it was called "The Stainless Banner" and it had the Southern Cross in its corner with a white background representing the purity they were fighting for. The 3rd was adopted because the "Stainless Banner" draped on a windless day looked too much like a flag of surrender so they put a blood stain Banner on the end of it. This 3rd flag was called "The Blood Stained Banner". The Battleflag was just that, a symbol the troops adopted and fought under. It's only that, a battleflag that means what they stood for.

We don't record history in our flags. Putting down those flags just means we are choosing not to respect an institution that fought for the expansion of slavery and torture. When Patton crossed Africa to Italy through to Germany thousands of his tanks Flew the Stars and Bars. The Battle Flag of Northern Virginia is as much as a American Flag as the Stars and Stripes. Christ is what the Stars and Bars all about. The Blue represents the Purity of Christ. The Red represents Christianity and the blood of Christ. The Crossed Bars are from the Saint Andrew's Christian Flag. So how can the flag be about hate when it is about the One that love came from. I have studied the Civil War for 45 years. I never said it was the Official Flag of the Confederacy. The Stars and Bars is the Battle Flag of the Northern Army of Virginia.
Let me teach you a few things. Lincoln didn't invade the South to free the slaves. There is not one piece of evidence that he loved the slaves and invaded the South to free them. The South didn't Secede for slavery. Lincoln offered the South the Corwin Amendment which was Legislated at the end of the Buchanan Administration. Buchanan was trying to help the incoming Lincoln Administration to keep the five remaining Southern States in the Union. It was voted on only by Northern Representatives. The Congress voted on the Amendment on February 28,1861 and the Senate on March 2 1861 two days before Lincoln was Sworn in. If the South would have Ratified the Amendment it would have secured slavery in the Constitution. The South declined. That was the U.S. Government trying to keep the Wealthy Southern in the Union. Also the Southern states Seceded because Lincoln was a Henry Clay man who was instrumental in Protectionist Policies against the South. Also in Lincoln's First Inaugural Address he threatened the South with bloodshed if they didn't pay their taxes and duties and immediately sign a 15% Tariff increase on Exports on only Southern Ports. It brought the Tarrif to almost 50%. The South Exported 75% of what they produced and had 5 Cash Crops and 15 Major Ports. The North only Exported 10% of what they produced and only 3 Major Ports. The Protectionist Policies had forced the South to buy Northern Products because they couldn't sell them to any country. The rest of the World and the South could have bought the same products from Europe for much less. Lincoln also stated in his first Inaugural Address that he Supported the Legislation that would keep the Southern States in the Union. It was the Corwin Amendment. Also in the Original Emancipation Proclamation read on September 22,1862 Lincoln stated that if the Southern States would come back to the Union by January 1,1863 they could keep their slaves. Slaves would only be Emancipated in the States that continued to rebel. Secondly Lincoln didn't free slaves in Northern and Border States. He didn't free them in parts of Louisiana and Tennessee where the Union Army was occupying. Why didn't Lincoln free the slaves where he had Authority to??? That was twice Lincoln and the North were willing to sell the slaves out for Revenue. Lincoln omitted the offer in the Emancipation Proclamation and signed it on January 2,1863 when the Southern States refused the Offer. Why weren't you taught that in the public Schools and Colleges. You see what you were taught is a lie and misleading facts and truth. If the Southern States Seceded over slavery why didn't a Tiny, starving and barefooted Army jump on that. That would have meant they won the War. Lincoln hated blacks and he never said a word about freeing the slaves before he was elected and after he was elected up to 2 years into the war. First, Lincoln in his fourth debate with Douglas in 1858 Lincoln said that blacks were inferior to whites. They shouldn't Marry or live with whites. Blacks shouldn't be allowed to vote or serve on Jury's or hold Office. Lincoln supported the Illinois Constitution that didn't allow blacks to travel through Illinois much less live there. At the time of the war 5 Northern States didn't allow blacks in their States for any reason. Lincoln was just like his Idol Henry Clay. Both were a life long advocate for Colonizing the blacks out of the country. Lincoln actually Colonized 5,000 to Haiti where they all almost died. Lincoln was in negotiations with Britain to colonize the blacks out of the country in Belize and New Liberia up to the day Booth killed that tyrant. Lincoln also said in his First Inaugural Address that he would not interfere with the States where people are held in servitude. Lincoln stated only that his war was over a Tax Revolt and Rebellion in his War Proclamations and his letters and Addresses to Congress which he kept from meeting for three months while he illegally invaded the South. Strange as it might seem, here in Brazil there's an annual Confederate Celebration held by descendants of Southerners who emmigrated to Brazil after the Civil War. The Confederate battle flag is their symbol to this day. But they forbid any form of racist or Nazi symbols at the celebration.

The Confederate states even offered to free all their slaves if those countries would recognize them as an independent country. The "Emanicipation Proclamation" was used as a military tactic. Also, there were already 250,000 freed slaves before the war in the south, several black plantation owners even owned their own slaves.

She fails to realize that freedom of speech triumphs over others comfort as what he is doing is not violating anyone else's rights. Most of my family during the civil war were from states like Missouri and Kentucky. I had family that fought for the Union and Confederacy from those states. I'm proud of both sides of my heritage because they fought for what they believed in. While I do personally believe that slavery was wrong, slavery and racism weren't completely what the Confederacy was about. It was about having freedom to live the way they wanted to and to not conform to what 50 percent wanted.
First off the flag he so proudly displays opposite side of the Stars and Stripes did really become a meaning for Southern Pride until about 4 years ago. The South used various different flags but when the Stars and Bars really came into the spotlight is when the KKK adopted it on the MAGA March on the White House in the 20's. Every since it's been their symbol of freedom to kill maimed and force the Black population back into slavery.

Please atleast get your facts straight. The battleflag was not the 3rd rendition of the Confederate Flags. It was never adopted officially. The first was the Stars and Bars. The 2nd was changed because it resembled the enemies flag on the battlefield and they adopted and it was called "The Stainless Banner" and it had the Southern Cross in its corner with a white background representing the purity they were fighting for.
The 3rd was adopted because the "Stainless Banner" draped on a windless day looked too much like a flag of surrender so they put a blood stain Banner on the end of it. This 3rd flag was called "The Blood Stained Banner".
The Battleflag was just that, a symbol the troops adopted and fought under. It's only that, a battleflag that means what they stood for.

I have studied the Civil War for 45 years. I never said it was the Official Flag of the Confederacy. The Stars and Bars is the Battle Flag of the Northern Army of Virginia.
Let me teach you a few things. Lincoln didn't invade the South to free the slaves. There is not one piece of evidence that he loved the slaves and invaded the South to free them. The South didn't Secede for slavery. Lincoln offered the South the Corwin Amendment which was Legislated at the end of the Buchanan Administration. Buchanan was trying to help the incoming Lincoln Administration to keep the five remaining Southern States in the Union. It was voted on only by Northern Representatives. The Congress voted on the Amendment on February 28,1861 and the Senate on March 2 1861 two days before Lincoln was Sworn in. If the South would have Ratified the Amendment it would have secured slavery in the Constitution. The South declined. That was the U.S. Government trying to keep the Wealthy Southern in the Union. Also the Southern states Seceded because Lincoln was a Henry Clay man who was instrumental in Protectionist Policies against the South. Also in Lincoln's First Inaugural Address he threatened the South with bloodshed if they didn't pay their taxes and duties and immediately sign a 15% Tariff increase on Exports on only Southern Ports. It brought the Tarrif to almost 50%. The South Exported 75% of what they produced and had 5 Cash Crops and 15 Major Ports. The North only Exported 10% of what they produced and only 3 Major Ports. The Protectionist Policies had forced the South to buy Northern Products because they couldn't sell them to any country. The rest of the World and the South could have bought the same products from Europe for much less.
Lincoln also stated in his first Inaugural Address that he Supported the Legislation that would keep the Southern States in the Union. It was the Corwin Amendment. Also in the Original Emancipation Proclamation read on September 22,1862 Lincoln stated that if the Southern States would come back to the Union by January 1,1863 they could keep their slaves. Slaves would only be Emancipated in the States that continued to rebel. Secondly Lincoln didn't free slaves in Northern and Border States. He didn't free them in parts of Louisiana and Tennessee where the Union Army was occupying. Why didn't Lincoln free the slaves where he had Authority to??? That was twice Lincoln and the North were willing to sell the slaves out for Revenue. Lincoln omitted the offer in the Emancipation Proclamation and signed it on January 2,1863 when the Southern States refused the Offer. Why weren't you taught that in the public Schools and Colleges. You see what you were taught is a lie and misleading facts and truth. If the Southern States Seceded over slavery why didn't a Tiny, starving and barefooted Army jump on that. That would have meant they won the War.
Lincoln hated blacks and he never said a word about freeing the slaves before he was elected and after he was elected up to 2 years into the war. First, Lincoln in his fourth debate with Douglas in 1858 Lincoln said that blacks were inferior to whites. They shouldn't Marry or live with whites. Blacks shouldn't be allowed to vote or serve on Jury's or hold Office. Lincoln supported the Illinois Constitution that didn't allow blacks to travel through Illinois much less live there. At the time of the war 5 Northern States didn't allow blacks in their States for any reason. Lincoln was just like his Idol Henry Clay. Both were a life long advocate for Colonizing the blacks out of the country. Lincoln actually Colonized 5,000 to Haiti where they all almost died. Lincoln was in negotiations with Britain to colonize the blacks out of the country in Belize and New Liberia up to the day Booth killed that tyrant. Lincoln also said in his First Inaugural Address that he would not interfere with the States where people are held in servitude.
Lincoln stated only that his war was over a Tax Revolt and Rebellion in his War Proclamations and his letters and Addresses to Congress which he kept from meeting for three months while he illegally invaded the South. Congress is supposed to Vote to go to go to war They finally did when Lincoln finally let the them meet and many voted for the war only because of fear of Imprisonment. Lincoln invade Maryland and illegal imprisoned the Maryland Legislature to keep them from voting to Secede. Lincoln Suspended Habeas Corpus illegally. He imprisoned about 30 000 Northern Citizens without a trial. Some for just not saying a word in his defense. Lincoln illegally shut down about 300 Northern Newspapers and imprisoned many of the owners and writers. He actually sent a Warrant out for Taney the Supreme Court Justice because Taney told him his Suspending Habeas Corpus was illegal. The Sargent at Arms refused to arrest Taney. You disagreed with Lincoln you were thrown in prison without a Trial. Lincoln destroyed the Constitution in at least 16 ways. Your History books say he had to destroy the Constitution to save the Constitution. What complete BS.
You mentioned the Northern General's which many Officers and Soldiers in the Union Army owned slaves. Have you heard the Pundits on TV saying the Mob shouldn't pull down Grants statues because he fought to free the slaves? They are ignorant. Grant owned a slave and he lived in his Father in Law's Plantation Community called Whitehaven in Missouri where his wife's slaves worked the land. Four days before Beauregard fired on Ft. Sumter in a bloodless battle Lincoln sent a Fleet of Warships led by the U.S.S Harriet Lane and attacked Charleston Harbor trying to resupply the Federal Tax Collection Fort. Yes Fort Sumter was a Federal Tax Collection Fort. Lincoln stated it worked out just like he wanted it to. Anderson the top Officer at Ft. Sumter was Beauregard's best friend. Pretty sure that is why a three day Artillery Bombardment didn't kill or scratch one Union Soldier. Great reason for a war that killed at least according to new studies 850,000 Americans deaths including thousands of slaves. Every thing I have said is Historically correct and accurate facts.
