Mr. Scarlet. Henry’s 21 Year Old Congo African Grey Brother. Won’t Say Happy New Year.

Mr. Scarlet is my Congo African Grey Parrot 🦜 and Henry’s older brother. Got him 21 years ago as a newly hatched chick and he talked at only a few months old. He’s very smart and loves people food, especially pistachio nuts! He loves to spin on his wire I made for him on the cage play top. My Vet says not all Greys spin. He talks constantly but not when I want him to. And he calls “Henry!” all day when Henry’s near the cage. He’s a very sweet boy. 21 and going strong. I don’t advise getting an exotic pet, it’s a ton of work and being in captivity is very stressful on these guys at times. It takes a ton of patience with Greys and unless you’re willing to be with a pet that can live up to 25-50 years don’t be tempted. It takes a lot of TLC with this species. (Psittacus erithacus, erithacus.) They are one of the most intelligent avian species on earth and are extremely sensitive as well.
