I have scrapped a pallet of them and have many memory chips, Socs, heatsinks, regulators, coils, capacitors, plugs, switches, practice boards, ram, wifi modules. I kind of like them and i even pulled the linux and rootfs of a few but i might try to extract some gold and copper and aluminum

Hi Ben i love the videos, where I am there isn't a local board buyer so I depopulate all my boards. It's just something I like to do and I am just stock piling everything. I have a heavy commercial 10 inch table saw I am thinking about converting into a plastic chipper. I can stack about 8 carbide blades on it so it should chew through plastic like butter. Build me a feed hopper for it I think it should work nicely. The problem with plastic is it's bulky by chipping I should be able to reduce the mass by 60 or 70% maybe more. Sure make it easier to haul in as well.

Hey Ben love your channel. It is really amazing what people throw out on garbage day. I started scrapping in my area a number of years back since I did not like seeing all the reusable materials going int9 the landfills. I also donate my money scrapping to local charities like the food bank. Would love your support with my channel. I am also a teacher and use these types of videos to spread awareness of conservation to my students. Stay well, your friend from Canada.

If things shut down for too long and you get most of your scrap in order you could think about using the safer vinegar, salt & peroxide to recover some gold fingers. Then just set the recovered gold aside in a jar, or in your case a 5 gallon jug or big barrel, until you get to the refining stage!
Have a GREAT Day My Friend!!!

Early in the pandemic the testing material and procedures were new and scarce, so they did fewer tests because thats all they could do. Now that they have caught up on producing the materials for the test and have the procedure nailed down, they are doing more tests. Its not that complex.

Smoke alarms don't have mercury... newer ones are optical and will just contain a low grade board anyways.
The older ones are problematic, not because of mercure, but because they have a tiny radioactive source of Americum 241.
They remain pretty much harmless if you don't remove the shield over the source. Normally they should not be found in the wild, companies providing them are supposed to take care of used ones...
Here is how it looks like inside one of they BTW: www.electrical-forensics.com/SmokeAlarms/Brand/BRK/9120/BRK-9120.html.
Fun fact: Soviets made somke detectors with... Plutonium !!! highvoltageforum.net/index.php?topic=478.0

Dude we've been getting 1300 - 2000 "new" cases per day in San Bernardino county southern California. Lol 150 is tiny. Wed be back up and running stronger than ever if we had those kinda numbers. The testing has gone up due to accessibility. In the beginning, since it is/was a newly discovered virus we didnt have existing stockpiles of tests. They had to be designed, tested, and mass produced to even attempt to have the needed supply of tests.

The impacts dont just turn the screw. They hammer the bit around to undo it. Think of it as you're trying to close a stuck door. If you just push on it (like your old drill just spinning) it wont move, but it you start to whack it multiple times with your fist (like your new impact driver) it will start to move bit by bit, then once its unstuck you can just push it again. Hope that makes a bit of sense. It cracks them loose with a sharp shock to the rotaion, and then spins them out the rest of the way. If you're doing woodwork, use the impact to put screws in. You'll find it gets them tigher and doesn't spin on the head of the screw.

DRILL BATTERY LIFESPAN --- After a long period say 3-6 months or more you need to charge your batteries before you attempt to use them again. If you do not during that time it has been trickle vampire draining and you can quickly kill/cut the lifespan in third by undervolting it.

Why not rent a spot for the trailer at a storage type facility? Even if it is $100/month, I'm sure there is one near your home and at $1,200/year in rent, you can rent for about 7-8 years before you hit the cost of re-working your front yard. You may even have moved to the country long before then and thus have ample parking. Just a thought.

At least you have street scrapping there, here in the US, it is not so much the same. A few weeks in the spring they have spring clean ups, only problem is there is no e waste allowed, only pure trash/garbage. They can stack as much furniture, garbage, trash as they want on the curbs. They have recycling centers for ewaste, Worst part is they do not get paid anything to drop it off, some of it they have to pay to get rid of. TV's, and cathode ray tubes cost a fortune to get rid of here. 19" or smaller costs $15 dollars to get rid of, 20" or larger is $25 to get rid of. So taking them for the copper here is definitely not worth it unless the party wanting to get rid of them pays a fee up front. Glad your country has such an aggressive recycling program. Cannot get rid of crt's or plastics from electronics at all.

How do you get so much e waste for free. People here in Tasmania want full retail prices for scrap, it's crazy, people advertise srap at full scrap value and expect you to pick it up and take to the scrap yard and give them full scrap price. Also there is nowhere in Tasmania that buys circuit boards as yet. Do all the scrap yards there pay for scrap steel, I am struggling to find any in Tasmania that pay for scrap steel and our non ferrous prices are much lower than there. Might have to move to Melbourne once the old corona b/s is over keep up the great scrapping 🙂👍

To be honest, for taking screws out of tech an impact driver is overkill. These things are designed for driving screws into wood.
