In this video we did some serious upgrades to the C10! we started by removing the Muncie M21 (which we originally thought was an M22) and installed the brand new 2020 Tremec TKX! It was an easy swap because it was pretty much a direct bolt-up. All we had to do was fab up a quick little transmission crossmember out of some tubing and cut a slightly larger hole in the tunnel. It shifts very smoothly and it's a much nicer driving experience, not to mention how much easier it can maintain highway speeds. While it was on the lift we took the opportunity to swap out the old worn out shocks for some new ones and replace the steering bushing. We got pretty busy towards the end of the build so off-camera we swapped in an Ididit steering column with a Grant steering wheel, a Classic Instruments Gauge Cluster, and Jason installed a new wiring harness. That concludes the 1965 C-10 Shop Truck build and we couldn't be happier with how it turned out! Thanks for Watching!

Here's the finale for the Shop Truck Build Series! From here out we have mostly kart and minibike videos for a while but we plan to do some more mods and videos on the truck in the future (Engine Build?) Thanks for watching!
wheels?
It truly is a 'Custom'.Well done guys !
I LOVE IT!!! TOTALLY AWSOME UPGRADE!!! TOTALLY AWSOME C10!!! TOTALLY AWSOME VIDEO AND EDUCATION. THANKS FOR SHARING!!! I LEARNED SO MUCH!!!
What an awesome project. You guys are amazing. This truck is so cool I have truck envy. LOL Daniel thinking and praying for you son.
Thank you! We appreciate the thoughts and prayers
That truck is looking mean your gonna love that tremec my mustang buddies have been running them for years cant wait tell your hauling mini bikes in the back keep up the good work
You guys rock. Sweeeet ride!
Nice upgrade.
I have this exact truck short box with a 4 speed. Love this.
Ahh dude! That’s sick! -said that guy dude.
A Muncie is an awesome transmission
Nice
Just a thought for the next guy. If you took a 1-1/2 inch piece of steel plate, and drilled the shifter mounting bolts twice you could move the shift lever forward enough that you wouldnt need to modify your seat, and open the upholstery seam. Its all hiidden under the shift boot. Hope you zeroed the bellhousing too.
Did you measure bellhousing runout and did it need offset dowels? Love the truck
I just bought a 1969 C-10. It has a 4 speed with a granny gear. Looks like I will be putting in a tremec 5 speed. Thanks
last thing it needs is some headers
What a beautiful truck. What size tires are those front and rear?
I think that truck is turning out sweet. Great job you guys! What happened with Daniel ? I thought he decided to leave the channel & was going to do missionary work or something like that. Did he change his mind? I have been enjoying all the videos you've been putting out lately . Definitely improving the channel!
thanks for watching! He did head off in early August, we just have a couple videos stocked up that we filmed together before he left
I was thinking the rear end gears might be too low for highway but I take it the new trans fixed...
We're able to cruise comfortably on those 75mph Texas highways now. We thought about a re gear but the we didn't really like the close ratio gears of the Muncie long term
which gearset did you go with for the tkx?
How much did the trans kit cost ? I’d like to buy a tremec 5 speed for my 66
Did you guys use the same flywheel? And pressure plate?
How do I find that exact shifter? Thanks
what is rear end gear ratio ? Thx
This is one of the good trucks! After a year, how are you liking the TKX 5 speed? I ask because I have a 1984 C20 camper special that’s getting a conversion from the M20 (granny low 4 speed) to the Tremec TKX 5 speed. It’ll be paired with a mild built 454 (455 hp). I’m hoping that I don’t regret the purchase. Are you loving the swap? Be honest with me.
This is probably too late but I’m loving the swap! The reason I chose the 5 speed was that it was roughly the same dimensions as the muncie. I would prefer 6 gears but the TKX didn’t require modifications to the transmission tunnel. The truck was an auto so the tunnel is lower. Its a really solid transmission and it’s been great so far! Sorry so didn’t answer you sooner but hopefully this helps.
I am looking to swap my automatic transmission to a 5 speed manual in my 1972 c-10
There's a dude here on TH-cam that uses resins an he can make a sick replacement knob for the shifter
Bens Works
that would be pretty sweet!
That's him
damn adjust the idle.
Please more automotive content
Do want sale transmission you pulling out let know
I'm no saying the transmission was a bad idea on the contrary the transmission from what I hear is quite good but a lot of your problems you have could be related to your rear end gears now I'm not saying its all the rear end but it could be part of the problem. Gata go will watch the rest later
That's true, We'll probably do a re-gear in the future as well
Guys at 10:37 you had no tail lights maybe your lights werent on at all later in the video in a shot of the truck coming torward the camera the headlights were on but you didnt have running lights
Admittedly i dont know if the c10's had running lights
As im not familar with chevrolets
Yes im a ford fanboy through and through
They weren't working but that clip was before we re-did the wiring harness. All of the lights and electronics now work perfectly
@@BuildBreakRepeat oh ok thats good yall be safe and staytuned to my channel for content on the tomberlin firefox
Как тебе такое Илон Маск?
First
All yall had to do is change the gears in the rear end to highway gears
if yyall changed the trans to tow you arent very smart, you should have changed rear end gears not tranny. You should stick with go carts and leave trucks and cars to the big boys.
That's the stupidest comment I've read today. You can call tremec and order virtually any gearing you want, plus this is a 5 speed vs the 4 speed that was in it. If you know old cars most older 4 speeds weren't geared for top speed if you realize back in the day "highway speeds" were like 50 mph. The Tremec is like a sweet 4 speed with an overdrive gear. The fact that these young fellas are tearing into and making this old c10 better makes me feel like there's a shred of hope for the future hot rodders. I could almost guarantee they've done more wrenching than you have. Just a hunch
