    64 years old, shooting since 16. I stopped chasing equipment. Now I shoot an X-Pro1, a 14 year old camera. I use 1 lens mostly, own 3 primes. That's it. Keep it simple, don't overthink, and just shoot. On another note, I am glad you're here, refreshing. There are so many channels here on TH-cam that lack, saying it nicely. You are the real deal.

    Very true. A photographer sees the image before the camera does. I know a friend of mine, he is using a very cheap camera but still taking amazing photos. Thanks for the video dude.

    I think this is something that can resonate with everyone, because I believe everyone can relate to getting bogged down by gear versus getting out & actually shooting.
    Thanks for this take, it’s been long awaited on a platform full of camera advertisements in every video.

      @@Hotelsocks 100 percent! All I see now and days is video about gear and no actual photography being done half the time and when there is photography being done everyone seems to make it a point of what they are using, like I understand people like to know what others use but it’s also what keeps everyone in that mindset like oh that person is using it so maybe if I use I’ll also get the same images and attention idk it’s just strange and I see it all the time at the photowalks I go to and meet ups

    Ahhh. I just had this conversation with a friend while on a photowalk last night. We were happy stating that we didn't need the latest & greatest but were stoked to know what we had worked just fine!
    I started shooting over 35 years ago (I'm f'n old) and my first rig was a Minolta X-7a, a lackluster camera, but very effective. Through the years, I never had anything "good" - always cheap consumer-grade cameras & lenses. But you know what? I took some epic photos with those and earned a lot of money with them. Now, I can afford whatever, but it was nice to have been through those trials so I can know where I came from and what can do what. Sometimes folks need to have that journey, and when they aren't able to, this video will do them some good.
    Keep on keepin' on!

    Based, identify with your story too. The second you stop focusing on gear and start focusing on the process, you'll be having a much better time and make better images. I will say that having really nice gear SHOULD inspire you to shoot more because its enjoyable to use, but some of my favorite photos I've ever taken were on a point-and-shoot, so truly it's just about being creative and having fun with whatever's in your hands.

      Yeah I think a lot of us lose sight of those beginnings where everything is still fresh so a lot of things don’t matter yet and that lets you just do your thing and let loose, to create whatever you want and I lost sight of that because of gear and other things that just didn’t matter at the end of it all

    Sold my Fuji XH2s, XT5, and XE4 for an XT3 and a film slr. Just want to go out and shoot, not make a cool collection. Got out of the megapixel/autofocus rat race.

    Gear is BS and TH-cam loves gear reviews because they need to sell products. I recently got a CampSnap for $80 and have taken some of my life's best pictures. It's limited but using or overcoming limitations is one of the things that makes great art. I still use my Canon with a cheap pancake lens and, if needed, I break out a cheap tripod I've had for over 25 years. That's all I need.

    This happens in every creative hobby. Manufacturers give you this idea that you should have a piece of gear to do everything, and they convince folks they will do that thing if they have the gear. Well, no, if you were gonna do that thing, you were gonna do it. Playing metal? Doesnt matter if you didnt have a 7 string. Street? You don't need to zone focus a 28mm for that. You could have already been doing it. The reason to buy gear is because you like having toys, or you want to upgrade a tool for something you already do.

    • @nachoviewfinder
      @nachoviewfinder  19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@TCMx3 yeah a lot of it is just influence for sure from others you look up to or seeing others in general have something you don’t have and then feel like you need to have the same thing so it’s all about just going on your own path and just doing you
      And agreed the gear should always just be something used to improve your workflow but it isn’t necessary to improve your overall photography at its core

    No, the countless videos of paid shills on this platform declaring this piece of gear is the X killer, game changer this, game changer that, is what's is ruining photography overall.
