- Welcome to this PMDG 777 Cold and Dark Tutorial.
First, we will have a quick tour of the PMDG 777 flight deck.
We will then go through the Electrical Power Up Supplementary Procedure SP 6.2. You will find this procedure in the FCOM 1 in your PMDG Folder in your computer, PMDG/PMDG 777X/Flight Manuals/PMDG 777 FCOM v1. Please note that, in real, we don't really go through this procedure as the aircraft is never "cold and dark."
After that, we will do the Preliminary Preflight Procedure and the Preflight Procedure. For the CDU Preflight Procedure, please refer to my FMC Tutorial video here • PMDG 777 Tutorial: How...

After recently reviewing this video, I actually realised there are a few comments regarding the "narration" or audio track, etc... I have to say I find these comments highly disrespectful given the type and quality of content delivered here for flight simulation. I am not a gamer, I am not a "clown". Excellent video and in a nice speed to learn.
first step: keep the fmc menu button pushed for some seconds > fs actions > establish ground connections > external power available for startup! apu only needed during pushback, saves fuel! :)
i dont see the button on the overhead panel to take the external power

Great video as usual, be good to see 737 cold and dark startup and shutdown. I would also like to see a flight from EGCC to EGPH with entire procedure incl radio frequencies and communication with ATC, inputting VOR/ADF frequencies as I know many of us simmers don't understand how the comma work

The cold and dark start up tutorial is the best I have seen. I have watched many of them, and this is the only one that everything that should be done is shown. It is obvious that you have good experience. Do you have a video on the how to use the Auto Pilot from take off, when the LNAV and VNAV should be engaged, etc...

Thank. I see a lot of videos where people use the auto pilot, but they do not satisfactorily explain why they are pressing certain buttons. neither do the explain if the sequence in which they are pressing the button is obligatory or if the sequence could be changed. Also, the simulation of your plane is great. I got the 777-300 from flight factor and I find the simulation is not as great as yours.

+gorian michaels The add-on for the views is called EZDOK. I have had it for a few weeks now and I like it, it works quite well, once you set up all the views, etc....Sometimes, there is a bit of stutter when changing views on the PMDG 777, but otherwise, it is very good. I bought Ezdok few month ago, it's still on the same place, because i don't understand at all the vidéos on TH-cam. You know i am french and the French people aren't the best for the foreign language :) :)
But for me your vidéos are praticable, clear and not to fast, it's why for the first time i subscribe to a channel, and i hope it's not to difficult for you to anderstand my english. Thanks you so much for trying.

A question, what's the minimum Hyd Qty, OXY Crew Press and Eng Oil during the preliminary procedures for a proper dispatch? I always check these items but dont know exactly if theyre OK or not for the flight.

Roughly speaking, you are looking at 1500 for the oxygen, at least 18 for the oil and at least 95 for the hydraulic. The simulation should give you good values, I guess....👍

Hi captan nav,why does my primary flight display remain dark with the sppend and alt but not the pitch
Right at the start...how do you get the eye view to be central across the flight deck - mine is biased either to the Capt OR the F/O view depending on my choice from the drop-down menu (I don't have a central view where I could just zoom in/out rather than the menu choice)
+opensesame525 To get all these views, I use a software called EZDOK. It is some sort of camera/views addon.
Why did you turn the vor l and vor r on? Is this needed when using lnav following the fmc?
+Russell Jones No, theoretically you don't need to, but it is nice to have the VOR displayed on the Navigation Display for situational awareness....
Great content sir. I have downloaded your video in my mobile phone since 2019 and regularly watch it whenever i get boring... Now I'm also a P3dv5 simmer, I have question. How do we change camera views inside VC like you did in your video (from captain view to upper head, lower head, fmc, front panel etc) I have no idea about it. Even didn't find any idea on Google as well.

At the time the video was made I believe I was using EZ DOK, but for camera views, nowadays, I use Chaseplane. Otherwise you can also use the P3D view system.

+shukri mohamed Well, I guess it depends on how many different planes the flight school has. They will try to teach you on the more basic planes like a Cessna 152 or Robin Dr400.

Yes I am a 777 pilot. Sure the videos can help you for your transition course, just make sure you follow your company SOP's though, which might be different from what I am showing in the video.😉

Done all these, but when I’m ready for departure, I set my flaps to 5 and I get an error saying slats primary fail and flaps primary fail, what am I missing? Also gears don’t come up after positive rate climb
At first sight, I would say you have failures enabled in the simulation. Try to clear all malfunctions.
How can i turn all displays on?

hold space and use your mouse and you can look at everything with your mouse!

+shukri mohamed Maybe you mean the First Officer. Well, I would not say he is the technician of the aeroplane, but he certainly has a lot of tasks to complete in the flight deck. That way, the captain has more capacity to deal with any issues and keep the "big picture."

Why do my panels take so long to load, after I turn everything on? (Altitude and NAV panels)
+Captain K How long does it take? I mean, it does take a while, but if it takes 30 minutes, then there is something wrong.
Not sure, but I've waited a good 5-10 minutes before abandoning.

why my 777, after set cold & dark, when i power on the aircraft starts with the pfd aligned ? it should be disaligned like the ND, like in your video, shouldn' t it? how can i set it as well ?
+Massimiliano Aurigemma I am not sure, as you said, if you select cold and dark, once the aircraft systems are initialised, the PFD should not be aligned... Strange!

Capt good day. Why when I start the apu it says fault and in the eicas it says APU and APU START SYS? It seems I cant start the apu

I don't suggest ezdok, i would get ChasePlane now. Way better than ezdok also have a better UI.

+satyaki adak Maybe you mean on an online network....? I fly on VATSIM. There is another well known network called IVAO. Basically, you connect to the network and fly with other pilots, but also Air traffic controllers. Do an online search for these two networks and you will be able to find out more.

i have 777 addon on my fsx but not pmdg. The cockpit is dark but the engine is on and i can fly it. Idk this is the addon error or what.
It should not be dark, I think.

I know it's been 5 months but I used to have the same problem with my 737 PMDG. After a whole month of searching, I found the solution. It turns out, FSX SP2 was somehow not supported by PMDG. So I installed SP3 and it worked perfectly fine.
why in real the aircraft is not cold and dark
+shukri mohamed As I said in the video, it is rare to find the aircraft "cold and dark" as there is always an engineer nearby looking after it, cleaners on, catering, cargo, etc....Planes come and go all the time, and have very little "rest" in between flights. During my time on the 777, so far, I have only come across 1 aircraft which was cold and dark. I think it had been sitting for a few hours at a remote location and did not need attending. Otherwise, the aircraft would always be on. This is also why we have a supplementary procedure, not a normal procedure, for powering up the aircraft.
Love this video but you need to somehow stop saying ah, as soon as I picked up on it I couldn't stop hearing it

+keyzer soze Do you mean the livery? It comes with the aircraft itself. You need to purchase the aircraft on the PMDG website, and then download it and install it in FSX or Prepar3d.

on the second fmc it says cockpit or something like that and set it on cld and dark
the FMC is located at the bottom. This is where you put all the details for your route to fuel to pretty much everything else
