This martial art is kali, in kali the practitioner should always bear in mind that the "stick" is a sword/knife/sharp object that can cause you direct harm if you idiotically hold/come in contact with. The purpose of the "stick" is that it is the substitute for knife, because in the intermediate level there will be actual knife practice, and the stick was intended for practice of the beginners (that's why this video is about the basics because it was intended for beginners) due to the reason that kali instructors would not want their students to undergo pain unprepared (only a fool would jump across the wall he still cannot reach). Kali is not only a martial art but also a philosophy, so if you do not know anything about kali or about its philosophy then don't mock it, you will only make a fool out of yourself. If you don't agree with their way of teaching then why bother watching this video?
