I remember watching some country music awards a while ago and this dude was winning everything and most people had no clue who he was. A year or two later and his album came out of nowhere and in an instant, he was one of the greatest singers to come out of country music period.

The main thing with country music that people always think is that it's Drinking and Sadness we have songs that are like that but it's mainly shows we ain't afraid to show it but we have romantic songs and very fun and cheerful songs this is why I try to introduce Country music to people who don't listen to it

Um - still living? I do hope you know that Sam Cooke was murdered many, many years ago while he was still young? Sam had the smoothest voice ever. I think what Mr. LBoyd was looking for was 'soulful' about Chris Stapleton. His voice isn't really my own cup of tea since I'm far more enamoured of those silky smooth voices of the great R&B soul singers of the '70's, but I absolutely love 'Tennessee Whiskey' and thoroughly enjoyed this version.
There are special people who come about pretty infrequently...in my 80 years I've enjoyed great bands of various genres. Chris is right up there with Elvis Presley, Jim Price, the Platters, and now Home Free (top of my list abecause I haven't heard even one of their songs that I wouldn't care to have on an album). And I can't say that even for Elvis... I feel like he is part of those Outlaws -- Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Kris Kristofferson, etc. Chris is one really special talent and I haven't heard one of songs that I wouldn't care to hear repeatedly.
The Justin Timberlake/Chris Stapleton CMA 2015 performance of Tennessee Whiskey /Drink You Away was one of the best award show performances ever in my opinion. The arrangements, the backup singers, the BAND!, and of course their voices and style… it’s just killer start to finish. Its perfectly done.
