Excellent video, thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge. I did think of one thing new campers might not think about is making sure the trailer is level before affixing their levels to the trailer. Just a thought.
It has been too long but so good to see you back releasing video's. This one is a gem. Really interesting. Great advice such as 'you don't want to hit anything'. I was surprised how quietly you conducted the reversing manoeuver. No shouting, no goofy hand signals (although we couldn't clearly see Sherri) & no 2-way radio. Perhaps that's another video, "How we go about positioning our camper when reversing". And as always showcasing a spectacular location. 10/10 (Yes I know the video was really all about how to level your camper)
Thank you! It’s good to be back. If backing up our little rig is a trapeze act then Sherri is the net 😂. If I’m about to back into something you’re going to hear her 😝.
I’ve never seen levelers on our model, only “stabilizers”? They sure do look like they’d make life easy on other RVs, though, Brad! I wonder, are there any challenges to using them?
I love your Alto! You guys are fun! For side to side, I use a $3 plastic carpenter level which I place perpendicularly on the camper floor approx. over the axle. When bubble is close to the middle, I'm level. For front and back, I use my eyeball, which is usually good 'nuff! Another trick is simply to open the camper door to see if its swings out quickly and how far. If it swings open half way, 'tis close enough!
That brings back memories... When we picked up our Alto at the factory we got to our first site and realized we had no level. We made a trip to a local store and grabbed a level like yours that we used for most of our first two years! Love this tip on the camper door!! I often have thought this about the bathroom door but had not applied the same logic to the camper door. Thank you for sharing!
Nice video. One important thing to remember with the Anderson leveler - if you have the caravan mover - is to always roll forward, not backward. You can cram the leveler into the caravan mover and it is really tricky to correct.
So true, Craig! You definitely have to be careful with the movers and the Anderson levelers, which can be tricky on the sewer side especially. We have cheated the leveler a bit to the outside of the camper wall with good success. Thank you for sharing that here!
Can you please tell me the brand name of your dual trailer wheels? Everything I find is 6 inch and yours appear to be bigger. Would love to get me a set of these.
Having little experience backing up a trailer, I was thankful for them. But now a couple years into it, if we were to buy another trailer, I wouldn’t get them. Great question! Thanks!
I think I saw the same video you guys saw and I knew that was my camper except I want the One with the shower inside the camper. Do you live in TN? I would love to see your camper. My husband and I are very close to ordering one, but he wants to see it in person first. I don’t need to. I have seen most of your videos and I wish I could order one today! 😂👍. Happy Camping!
Now that we have an Alto on order we appreciate your information even more. Did your Jeep come with a factory towing package? Did you purchase a wireless brake controller for your vehicle from SC or do you have a wired controller? Thanks
Congratulations on getting your Alto on order! Our Jeep Overland did come with a tow package. Yes, we bought the wireless brake controller from SC. Thanks for watching!
Love, love, love your little camper. It is just exactly what I was looking for and didn't even know such a thing existed. When you said you were camping at Fall Creek Falls I was so surprised as I live in Middle Tennessee. Are you guys based locally? I would love to pm ya'll with questions if possible. Thank you for your videos!!
Have been enjoying “binge”watching your videos; good stuff! Sherri and Joe, a question; what made you choose the 1713 over the 1723? I’m debating internally and would love your input. Still think you made the right choice? Why/why not? Thanks, keep on posting videos!
Thank you so much for watching! We chose the 1713 for the bigger bed and no indoor shower with no regrets. Using the campground shower, or our outdoor shower, has worked well for us.
@@ALifeMoreLight Fantastic, I’ve been leaning that direction but wasn’t totally sold, also thought an indoor shower could be nice. Thanks for the quick reply, more food for thought! Stay positive, but test negative!
We do not have the movers and do not see a need for them. We find the trailer so easy to manoeuvre by hand plus when going up slope just backing it in with the Jeep attached to it

Love the “Townes Takes” 🥰
❤️
Learning so much from you guys, thank you!
Our pleasure! We too have learned so much from this community. Thanks so much for your comment and thanks for watching!
You guys are awesome!
😊 thank you!
Such a delight. Thank you!
You are welcome. Thank you for watching!
Do you need to chalk both sides of the trailer or just level one side and chalk the other side?
Can you please tell me the brand name of your dual trailer wheels? Everything I find is 6 inch and yours appear to be bigger. Would love to get me a set of these.
So, if you had it to do over, would you forego purchasing the Caravan Movers? Disregarding putting the rig in a garage.
Having little experience backing up a trailer, I was thankful for them. But now a couple years into it, if we were to buy another trailer, I wouldn’t get them. Great question! Thanks!
If you are traveling alone, one would think having the caravan movers would be a big advantage.

you want the Alto R1723. It has a shower.

@@ALifeMoreLight Any reason why you did not connect a wired brake controller since I assume your Jeep had the wiring already installed?

Sadly we do not live in TN ☹️ Here is a link to the manufacturers website. safaricondo.com/en/travel-trailers-alto-serie-r-1713/ Thanks for watching!!
😮 Is that a Tilley hat Joe is wearing?
It is! Best adventure hat I’ve ever owned.
Do you need two Anderson levellers or would one side work?
We bring just one with us. I believe a second one would be used if we had two axels. Thanks for watching!
I currently use a large construction leveler. I am now going to pick up levelers to install on the camper. Thanks for the idea! Happy Camping Season.

Very informative :)

If we were experienced at backing up when we bought ours, we too would have skipped this option. Thanks for watching!
