It's his recent improvement on retrievals that sets him apart. That was the one area of the game where he fell behind the likes of Coll etc. Now he's as good as anyone else.

By the 3rd or 4th game Farag is always miles ahead of his opponent. Incredible fitness combined with relentless attack on his opponent’s stamina. What a game.
Farag feels legitimately unbeatable right now, none of the matches against the top 5 are even particularly close

Paul Coll is a fitness endurance freak. Yet Faraq is beating Coll, Elias, MSB and Asal. These are the best players on tour today. Wow! Ali is a worthy model for a champion.

At 4:40... notice... Asal doesn't move back to center. He moves slightly left to make a subtle block on Farag's path... and its just enough to win the point. Very clean and respectable....
One word: typical.
If he were comfortably winning at the time he wouldn't have done it. It's only when he's under pressure that he decides to cheat.
They have to put some rules so he cannot abuse the game like this

Asal's signature subtle block. He knows how to game the system. But still outclassed and outplayed by the best.

Want to mention that Asal apologised for the last few seasons of controversy and is trying to change which is really good to see. Might take him a while but let’s hope he can do it.
blocking is ingrained in Asal's game. Even if he wanted to, he can't play clean. I am so glad that I am not on the same court with him. Who coached him when he was a junior? One of these days, he is going to hurt someone really bad. It could be Asal himself.
@@martelbaek6660 Agree, and now I find myself looking for every tiny movement Asal does. Farag is just too smooth flowing like water around Asal.
@@SLDIKJF yeah farag is so good. He's one of those players willing and capable of getting everything back not to mention his feel for the game. He is a nightmare to play with. A different kind, of course, from that of Asal.

Asal instinctively moves into his opponents line but it’s often subtle. But once you see it you can’t unsee it. Even in these highlights Farag turned to the ref a few times looking exasperated. It’s such a shame because Asal may well be the dominant force in a few years but I’ll never be able to be happy for him.

Ali's on a roll, he's outlasting them all. Reminds me of the dominance of Jansher back in the day, floating the ball all over and deadly in the air, plus his retrieving is par excellence.
Asal so incredible to watch, but even on a "good" game like this it's frustrating to see him blocking Farag.
It's painful to see isn't it. It's just so low and pathetic.
@@cookesam6 As I see it Farag has the speed and did the work to get round the blocks which then become a liability for Asal.

I was pulling for Farag just so we wouldn’t have to see Asal rip off his shirt, stick out his tongue and kick the front wall. …and because Farag is amazing.
Good win Ali using increasing height which is always a great leveler, asal hardly bothered to move after his shots.
Am stupidly happy about that result. The kid is xfactor, but Farag is class personified and didn't need obstructive movement to win. Congrats Ali
Farag was superb. Asal gave up but was forced into giving up. Farag is some role model for young aspiring squash champions.

I LOVE seeing Ali win so smoothly and intelligently…..his mental strength and calm are the antidote to an opponent who has great talent and strength but lacks that mental acumen. Ali is eminently fair as well.
He didn't respond with similar tactics but rose above that. Ultimate skills!
Respects to Mrs and Mr Farag
I’m pretty sure most have noticed but Asal usually does not use his blocking tricks on Farag, he has respect for Farag and actually tries to keep his game clean on their encounters. Which is all the more incriminating when he switches it on with other players like Coll, Elias etc. the fact he can switch it on and off implies he CAN and should clean up his game antics more. Delete the ridiculous celebrations and we have a dominant champion which people will actually want to watch.
This was my impression too. Against Mohammed El Shorbagy, he was as clean as one could expect from Asal. Same for Faraq. But against other players like Hesham, he was certainly blocking and even caught on highspeed camera grabbing Hesham's racquet to slow him slightly on the return of ball. This was facing the front wall and could not be seen by the game referee.
He did try but Farag moved faster to combat those tricks.

Based on the last few (3 or 4) matches it looks like he's tidying things up a bit, but I agree. You can see at 4:39 when he's under pressure, the cheating will always come out. He's just a dishonest player and person.

About Asal: I dont like his ripping the shirt celebration, but I respect his (hands on ears, tongue out) celebration cuz it's a solidarity act with an Egyptian football player who celebrated his goals this way. That player was diagnosed with ALS in 2020 (The Ice Bucket Challenge Disease)..
I don't like any of his celebrations because there's a good chances he's played dirty and didn't deserve the win
When i found out Ali won i watched. I won't tune in to watch Assal cheat his way to victory.

players must have a rest one or 2 days between semifinals and final, they look tired alright, they can play even more than soccer players in short days, im not enjoying to watch tired players playing, 😢
Farag is without a doubt the best player in the world but his game is boring to watch.

@@SaltyDingleberry3000 ok, you’re entitled to your opinion, of course. You said he is boring to watch, and then you said he just doesn’t excite you. To me, they’re 2 slightly different things. For me, watching something in PSA squash may not always be exciting at all times, but very very rarely would I say boring, because I just like watching squash itself. But, these are personal views, I accept that. Another thing however, I enjoy watching Farag because, given he is so good at what he does (most would agree), I’m kind of watching to see what I can learn from him, also. Which to me is another reason to watch.
