    (AB/A'B'=OE/A'B'=OF/BF=F/V-F) is wrong.
    (AB/A'B'=OE/A'B'=OF/B'F=F/V-F) is Right.

      Yes u are right i have made B' as B i forget to put B' there but i have put the wright value there, so just there ia mistake of B' ONLY plz consider this, rest whole derivation is correct.

    sir,is there any reason for the farmulla of the lense that we can write in the form of reciprocal(1/F=1/V-1/U)???
    WHY WE CAN NOT Write in the form of F=V-U??????

      No u cannot write formula like F =. V - U but you can write it as UV = UF - VF you have to take first lcm the you will reciprocate it.

    I am still confused... on left side ratio both ratios will have negative sign. negitive will cancel negitive sign .. so correct formula will be 1/f=1/u + 1/v. .. as given in textbook. same as mirrors equation.

      on left side we compare height of object with height of image where image is inverted so we put nagitive sign with height of image. same case for 2nd similar triangles. in text book I have same formulas for mirror and lens and looks logical too.

      Yes it is for both convex and concave lens, if you do this derivation using concave lens you will get the same result, check yojr book you are talking abhout mirror formula not lens formula and this is derivation of lens formula.
