    “Hi everyone, it’s Henry here” isn’t how he introduces himself at in-person classes, but it’s pretty close.

    Oh right. You did do a lancer. It would be nice to see the other cerastuses (cerasti?) in different colours. Whether that be an existing house, or a custom scheme. That's what freeblades are for.
    (Im planning on painting a freevlade attached to the Grey Knights, so its got mostly their colours. And another one in entirely steampunk colours.)

    lots of good tips as always, I think it would be good to see a more in depth video on the long multi week paint jobs. youtube is full of guides on how to paint quickly, that focus only on one technique, or do a handwavy summery of a big project so it is hard for people who haven't got to that level of painting to find inspiration. no clue if it will please the algorythm so it may not have a massive reach but it will for sure be filling a hole in the youtube hobby space

    Really awesome video and model too
    Malinax is my favourite knight house and I'm still struggling with the right colour for the armour panels...
    More knight videos would be very nice :)
    Thanks!

  • @mirage809
    @mirage809 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The fact that the Cerastus knights can be so easily reposed is excellent stuff. If there's one knight type that will benefit from it it's the Lancer. Imagine that thing build in a full sprint, ready to put that lance through something and slam right through it.
    Malinax as a house never really appealed to me. I always like my knights being boldly coloured and covered in all kids of heraldry. Malinax is a bit drab looking. Might just be the way the Forge World team paints them though.
    The skeleton looks awesome. Looks like something one can do very quickly while looking great.

    Wish I’d seen this video a few days ago. I had a shocker painting my knight skeleton this weekend. I also stippled exhaust manifold over black but then applied acrylic washes (targor rage shade and nuln oil) and then ruined it even more by not glossing the armour before oil washing. Trying to come up with a way of salvaging it.

    • @cultofpaint
      @cultofpaint  ปีที่แล้ว

      If it's all dry, then hit it with a gloss coat, then matte, then start over.

    I don't know diddly squat about House Malinax, but that sort of fleshy tone to the panels is just crying out for some freehand tattoos in my mind. If I ever end up going for a knight army, I might try to do some simpler ones - American Trad/Sailor Jerry style with a 40k spin - and see what I can do.

    Thanks for this Henry! I would love some more long form vids on knights. Also is there a reason why you’ve used 2/3 different brands of varnish? Are there properties drastically different? Would polyurethane work across it all?

    • @cultofpaint
      @cultofpaint  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Polyurethane would be fine across all. I have a big bottle that has lasted forever. For the other varnishes where it's just the effect that I'm after I currently favour the ammo mig ones.

  • @ftsttg4663
    @ftsttg4663 ปีที่แล้ว

    fantastic! Looks amazing. I was wondering if you apply varnish between the oil filtering and shading and feathering with black. I assume the spirit reactivates the oilfiltering layer, or isnt that the case? Thanks!

    • @cultofpaint
      @cultofpaint  ปีที่แล้ว

      Because you're using so little mineral spirits I didn't find there was any reactivation. But there's also no reason not to do a layer of varnish to be sure.

    This is just fantastic. I am a newbie painter and although your videos do use airbrushes you are a great teacher and one of my favorite channels. I will be trying to duplicate this. Question about the skeleton. You mixed the paint for a dark metallic. Why not use the S75 Black Metal? What did mixing in the contrast paint give to the paint that you loved?

    • @cultofpaint
      @cultofpaint  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Polyurethane gloss is a bit tougher, so when you're using gloss for that purpose it's really good. If i was using gloss just to make something shiny then "normal" gloss would be fine.
