Is a Navigator's Verandah Worth the price?

  • The Disney cruise line has many different staterooms, but recently my Dad and I tired the 07A Navigator's Verandah stateroom. Was it worth the upgrade for the view and fresh air? Today I am going over my full review of the Navigator's Verandah stateroom onboard the Disney Wonder.

    Trying a Navigator's Veranda for the first time this April. Seeing it on your vlog made me that much more excited!

    I am looking to take my first cruise Dec, 2020 and have really enjoyed watching all of your cruise vlogs. Really helping me decide on the most suitable stateroom for myself and my family. Thanks as always for sharing.

    I have had verandas before but after your trip I would like to try the Navigator's Verandah just for the added protection and I loved the little bench. Thanks Michael as always!

    I have stayed in inside, porthole, back of ship with waist high white wall and regular balcony verandas. For our family, the ocean/water is a major thing. Our home state is a small, land locked state and every year going to the beach for a week was a major thing. I found inside and porthole were just fine for the trip. We stayed busy enough that a balcony wasn't crucial. BUT having said that, we will get a veranda from now on. Getting up at sunrise and sitting on the balcony in my jammies, being out there while my room was being made up and chilling out there while my family finishes getting ready or at sunset is worth it. We like water views and we enjoyed sitting on the balcony often to chat or watch a pretty view with no one else in sight was awesome. we didn't like the white wall version as much as you can't see out sitting down.

    You have inspired me to look into Navigator verandah whenever we are able to book a Disney cruise.

    I agree with you totally that budget has to be a consideration. I've only been able to cruise on Disney once and I had an inside room with a virtual reality porthole. I would have loved to have a veranda but going on the Disney Cruise Line at all was a stretch to the budget I did have and I was very happy with the room I had. Disney makes all of their staterooms magical.

    I have never been on a cruise but hopefully will one day soon! Personally everyone enjoys Disney differently and what makes your trip magical may be different for someone else. For me being completely in the Disney bubble is #1. No car rental, no off property and enjoying it that way when st Disneyworld. Putting money aside the veranda may be the only way to cruise for some and the extra money is part of the vacation budget. It looked amazing and I would say a must when we finally go on our first family Disney cruise. Thanks for all the great details.

    We originally booked an inside deck 5 cabin on our upcoming WBPC cruise on the Wonder. But we upgraded to a 7a GTY. We've just been allocated the very room you we in on this cruise and I'm so excited to try it.

    Hi Michael! I love the navigator’s veranda on the Dream, specially at the aft. The verandah is very small but the view is outstanding! :)
    Personally I think daylight hours had an impact on how much I’ve used my veranda... On my last cruise (december 10th ) it was already dark at 5 pm!

    I'm definitely going for the navigators veranda!!! I would enjoy it first thing in the morning with my tea and one last time in my pajamas before bed in the privacy of my own room 😁❤️👍🏼 thanks .... I didn't know that existed.... Pretty sure it's less expensive than the other veranda rooms

    Next time you are looking to do a cruise on the Disney Dream look at the double port hole room. These rooms are our favorite. Room numbers 5020,5022,5520,5522 are like mini suites to us. They are split rooms with the bed on one side of the room and the sofa on the other with a dividing wall. With this split design, the room feels large and open. If you search TH-cam for these rooms numbers there are tours of these rooms.

      @aquarian256 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nathan Boat Review Channel that is correct. My parents like the ones on deck 6. But as far as I know, correct me is I am wrong, they do not have the divider wall. They are open with a pole in the middle of the room, and the desk is on the back wall between the port holes.

    We like the port hole rooms a lot. We have done it on 3 of the 5 Disney cruises and it usually is not to much more than inside cabin. I have booked the port hole rooms on RCL also ($100 extra on a 7 night, they don't suck but are not on Disney's level with or with out kids)

    Never had a view or verandah because of the cost, always stayed inside stateroom and I use it mostly for sleeping and changing and bathing. So I rare save my money for other things like palo, excursions etc. Tfs be blessed.😇

    There's other things I like to consider when selecting a stateroom, such as deck #, location (forward/mid/aft) and length of cruise. I prefer upper decks & midship. We've done 2 porthole views, deck 7 forward; 1 private verandah, deck 7 midship; and on our 4th cruise this March, we're doing an inside stateroom, deck 7 midship. I'm curious to see how we'll do in an inside stateroom🤷‍♀️. But I think at the very least we'll stick to porthole staterooms for sure. And every now and then splurge for a verandah. For 5 nights or less I'll do inside stateroom (if I have to). 7 nights a porthole stateroom is just fine. 8 nights or more definately a verandah!

    You make most excellent points. I think I would definitely what some sort of veranda,especially if you feel claustrophobic. But the price is definitely kind of steep. I would do it sometimes and sometimes not

  • @heatherschneider2492
    @heatherschneider2492 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think it definitely depends on who is with you for the cruise. If it was just me and a friend or sibling I would probably take a ocean view to save money and use elsewhere. On the other hand, if I am taking my family, we would more than likely get a veranda so that we can have some extra space as well as an area to be when the kids are napping. Just some ideas. I did not know about the Navigator veranda though so I will definitely be looking into that!

    We are going on the Magic out of Miami in two weeks. We originally booked the Navigator’s Verandah buy the videos we seen it looked really cramped closed in so we upgraded to the more open but it still has the solid wall not the glass. I was hoping to here your review on the other verandah options too.

    Michael, you help keep me motivated to save money so I can go back to Disney World. I haven't been in years and it's so hard to wait! I was having trouble saving money but I just started a new system for saving. Whenever I get to the amount per paycheck I wish to save, I put it on a Disney gift card so I cannot "accidentally " spend the money elsewhere!

    My husband and I always get inside state rooms as we would rather spend our money on other things. The magical portholes in the bigger ships are great and add a touch of fun to your “window.”

    I would but they are smaller rooms over all. Just looking at a family suite right now that sleeps five on deck 8 on the magic. Never stayed in this type of room, this deck or this ship before so curious to see how it is. I have only been on the Dream and Fantasy deck 7 with a room that sleeps 4. I also loved the look of your balcony on your first cruise. It was huge.

    I've done Verandah rooms an inside cabin rooms the cost difference for me I would do an inside cabin because I never really use the veranda. And on the dream and the fantasy the inside cabin has a virtual porthole and animated characters pop up every once in a while it's awesome!

    Good morning Michael thank you for doing this video. I'm in the process of planning my next Disney cruise for early Dec 2019 on the Fantasy. I'm considering a navigator balcony as it's a few hundred dollars less than other balconies which helps as I'm from Canada and have to factor in the exchange rate.

    • @jackpast
      @jackpast 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Jessica R If you can afford it, always get a Veranda! In the mornings with coffee, tea, etc. and other ‘down time’, it’s really nice sitting there listing to the ship cut through the water. Most of my cruises have been in the Caribbean so I’m talking warm air and deep blue water! I’ll never get an inside stateroom!

    If I’m going with my father, who spends a lot of time in the rooms on any of our trips, I’d probably get him a room with a veranda. I still need a view when I wake up so a porthole will do fine for me!
