This provides a nice definition, but it must be understood that they cannot be used in many circumstances. Example: I have 8 hours to see how many patients? Some may take 5 minutes, some 7.3 minuets, and some may take 30 minutes. Now try calculating takt or cycle time.
Hi Michael, I know this concept cannot be applied in every situation. Lets take your case and create one hypothetical situation : Suppose customer demand means suppose you need to treat 40 patients per day . Now Takt Time= 8 hrs x 60 mins = 480 mins/ day, Subtract : 60 mins lunch and two 15 mins coffee break 30 mins and another 10 mins bio break. Net available time = 480- 60-30-10 = 380 mins Clinic Takt Time = 380 / 40 = 9.5 mins/ patient to meet the demand of 40 patients per day
