Caravan Awning Rail Repair

Hi Folks Today I tackle my Friends Caravan Awning Rail. Sadly he caught a post and crushed the Awning Rail. The re is no link to the tool as I was not happy with its performance. Thanks for watching Phil.

Good functional repair Phil, your friend was lucky damage was confined to the awning rail.

Wasn't he lucky ? Incidentally I'm a big advocate of WD40 Silicone 😃

Hi Phil, Without it going to some specialist metal worker I think you did a good job there 👍. Probably some touch up or spray paint that closely matches might disguise it. Cheers Rob

I found that a gentle use of a wide flat head screwdriver and hammer to tap at the gap before using awning rail spreader worked well

Hi Ste. Good idea. I didn't use a screwdriver as I was concerned that I would damage the skin of the Van. Maybe I should have tried. Thanks Phil👍🙂

Hello Phil, thanks for another how to fix video, I watched your video on waist pipe, and I was thinking of making my own waist pipe support’s from the awning rail, after watching this video I am now wondering what size will my awning rail be, 8mm or 10 mm ?, we have a Bailey unicorn 2017 , cheers Phil 👍👍.

HI BB. 8mm piping will do fine get the 18 inch velcro straps you will have more adjustment. Thanks Phil👍🙂

Hi, i also damaged my awning rail but mine seem to be peeling off the actual van and its also very very jaggie , can i replace a length of the awning rail easily. Thanks

Hi Sounds quite a bad bit of damage. Unless you are very skilled. I would suggest getting an expert to repair it. It will need a new section added plus there may be damage to the outer skin as well. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching. Phil🙂👍

dont get one of those , get a good one.the cheap ones ar eno good and will cause the repair to be harder like in the video.....

Rhat repair tool was proper rubbish. witha better quality tool you could do a much better job and much easier too..
