I'm a 45 yr old white guy. I grew up listening to this as a young kid. I still remember the day my black friends discovered I knew the words, we were in school and would sing this song together, over and over. I miss those guys, real, genuine friends who always had my back. We learned a lot from each other. Amazing how music can bring people together.
RIP Donny Myrick.....”he plays so beautiful, don’t you agree” . I was lucky enough to see this awesome tour in my younger days at the Philadelphia Spectrum. Myrick was brilliant, OMG, there will never be another band like Earth Wind & Fire. They were part of my youth....years and years later...I’m going to be 68 in June 2021, yet my children bought me VIP TICKETS for their concert in Syracuse, NY... They grew up listening to me talking about EWF and how much this band has impacted my entire adult life. This 2021Syracuse concert will be my 14th, and I am so fearful when meeting the band that I’ll either be tongue tied or die of a stroke. seeing the.
Best Christmas present ever...EWF is the one band that can bring the world together like no other. Pure, brilliant talent, this band has to carry on wit the young bloods....heal this nation with their music.
I saw the original EWF band live at the then Wembly Stadium, now known as the 02 Arena, in London, UK, in 1981. What a show they put on. The place was packed with over enthusiastic fans. We were all on our feet for the whole concert. Living memory for me. I was devastated when he was shot and killed by the popo in his own apartment, with a lighter in his hand, bc the cop was afraid for his life. The same BS excuse they still use to this day. MODERN DAY LYNCHING, I SAY. 🇨🇼🇩🇲🇨🇦
My moms favorite group. She always said my generation didn't have nothing on hers. Now I'm almost 35 and can appreciate how truly amazing this song is along with tons of other 70's R&B bands. Can't see anyone being able to make thorough original music like this anymore.
Maybe some people disliked it because the version from the album "Gratitude" is THE best version of this tune. I love EWF like no other band ever. Saw them live and Phil Bailey hit notes I ain't never heard before! He is off the hook! If you listen to the Gratitude cut, you will fall in love with this song all over again. Peace.
Absolutely Incredible! I have loved these guys since I was a teenager in the mid 70's.....can't get enough of them....I could listen to this music over and over and over....THIS is music!!!
BAAAAAAAAAAAAAD, just love this song forever no matter what mood i'm in it picks me up and brings back good memories of the 70's, EWF is still kickin' it live! Great Post and Thanks!
I can feel the california breeze in my face as I sit in the back of daddy's cadillac @ 8 years old still trying to see past his afro, listening to him sing this! Yasssss...... EWF was the Best Band of all times right along with Tower of Power! What happened to Real Music.. ?? Music you could play at a family reunion and from the old to the young could relate to... Damn I miss those days...
This just brought me to tears - damn that music was just breathtakingly beautiful in those days! And I am glad I witnessed it, never mind I am old now, that memory noone can take from me!
I remember when I was a kid back in the 70's. This song would come on and the lights would go down and I would picked out the girl I'd been wanting to be dancing with all night and she finally said yes. And I put my hands around her waist and ooohhh that was a good feeling. Great memories.
Don Myrick, another Chicago native(God rest his soul) blowing away souls in this rendition. My uncle was one of his original music teachers. What a blessing to be apart of such a historical group. I saw them in concert(40 year anniversary) in September and they truly have not lost a step. Minus the great Maurice White but great just the same. Greatest concert I have EVER been too. Sang every song. Thanks big sis for sharing your music with me.
Happy Birthday Phillip Bailey. Thanks for the gifts you have given us with your incredible voice. Nobody today sings music like this. You guys are unique.
today's artist's have no soul like artist's of old, i'm so glad we still have them to turn to to guide us back to how music is suppose to be, about the love of music not the love of money
EWF rocks !! They are one of my all time fav's !! I could listen to this all day, it's great. I haven't gotten to see them live yet...but, I promised myself that the next time they come to Florida, I am going !!
this is one of the best song ever made. My mom and dad love this band.. i'm 27 and when i was young i didn't understand this kind of music but now i do ;) Thank ur heart away to that place..
Ahhh yes . . . The Elements. My 1st & 2nd husband's fav band (married the same man twice) until he died from complications of cickle cell. No more doctors, no more hospitals, no more pain. Thank you for being a beautiful man & for giving me a beautiful daughter. RIP Wayne, Luv u 4eva. (P.S. Put in a good word for me up there)
im 24 and wasnt even around when this was goin on, but my old soul pulls to listen to old school music more than any other genre on the market!? # GOLDEN YEARS!
THE BEST BAND EVER!!! One song better than the other. I fell in love with them since I was a young kid in the 80´s . Been to several concerts in many places and once I shook hands with Philip Bailey , at the Blue Note, in New York. He was performing to a small audience there. I passed in front of the place, stopped to read the signs - and just could not believe he was there, so close, right then. I went inside and watched him perfom. Humberto Silva- Brazil.
LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLove Earth, Wind and Fire--product of the 70's...One of the most creative, baddest musicians of our life time....LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLove them sooooooooooooooooo much. Continued success guys.....A fan from the 70''s!
Certain groups will never die. EWF is right at the top. It sounds as great today as it did 30+ years ago, and it will still sound as great 30 years from now!
I came here because of Andre too, but this is such a great performance that I'll have to stop myself from commenting something about him to enjoy the beautiful music!!
I saw them lastnight at the Hollywood Bowl! The concert was called "Earth, Wind, and Fire (WORKS!)" Thumbs up to all the young people who appreciate EWF.
YES! This reminds me of when I was little. I asked for The Best of EW&F on cassette for my 9th birthday and I listened to this song constantly! It wasn't the live version, but still. Awesome! Thank you for sharing this tennismenace77. :)
Think back to the 70's, the MUSIC. It got us thru so much. Teddy P, Luther, Al Green,Marvin, Barry White,O'Jays,Isley Bros I could go on all night! I remember going to concerts or just to the clubs to dance, party enjoy ourselves. Crazy teenage hormones had us grinding to songs like this. Didn't matter if you where black white or GREEN! The Music seeped into your soul, made it all worth while. Peace...
The late Don Myrick was the real "reason". You see, he made hot grease on that saxophone as it were. Phillip's voice interacting with Don"s saxophone solo was a special treat at live EWF concerts. R.I.P. Don Myrick.
When I listened this song more than 30 years ago, for 9 year old kid that voice of PB was felt like something came out of this world. Since then I have been firmly believing that this song is written ONLY for him to sing. While I have no particular words for DeAndre, still now I believe that this song shall only belong to PB. For no one else.
I remember back in the early 70s listening to these fellas. It brings back so many good memories. This was universal music that reached all across the world and it still does to this very day.
The great ole days when music represented something completely different from what we hear today. Philip Bailey who performed the original surely did a number with this song and I can clealy remeber how the young men of the time would scramble to find a female for the slow dance when this song was played at parties, matinee, jam sessions etc. This tune brings back pleasant momories when life was less complicated and all the world appeared as bliss.
I remember I had this 8 track. I was a freshman in College at Ohio University when this came out. Man this was some beauriful beautiful music :). Peace.
I love these costumes. What was great about the 70's is that you can look however you want and it didn't matter as long as you had talent. Today the look is more important than the talent. So sad.
loved this song when i was up all night drinking, wiht my frinds, and everyone thought they could dance and sing the best. god i never thought they wold be the days i lov and miss so much
I've heard this song every day for the past 5 months working at Red Lobster..every time it comes on the whole staff breaks into song and the guests have a good laugh...had no idea it was from EWF!

THIS SONG WILL NEVER GO OUT OF STYLE. IT IS A TIMELESS CLASSIC!!
hope you're still resting in peace Don Myrick. he had such a beautiful style of playing.

One of the greatest bands around. Have stuck together thick and then and have never heard anything bad about any of the guys.
This is the best vocal performance ever!! Philip Bailey is a true BEAST when it comes singing, just amazing!!!
Absolutely Incredible! I have loved these guys since I was a teenager in the mid 70's.....can't get enough of them....I could listen to this music over and over and over....THIS is music!!!
I played Don Myrick's sax solo on Reasons in the 9th grade in Detroit and it chnged my life and social status in high school...Thanks Don RIP.

we love these old songs because it brings back memories of a time that was young and carefree
YES ❤
When I listen to EWF's songs it feels like I'm hugging a soft blanket while drinking some wine.
I can feel the california breeze in my face as I sit in the back of daddy's cadillac @ 8 years old still trying to see past his afro, listening to him sing this! Yasssss...... Great rendition of a great song, and you go Don Myrick, we miss you...
(and really, how could 52 people not like this?)

soul wrenching...
evoking lots of long forgotten bitter-sweet memories during college days.

I grew up listening to this song. My uncle use to play it over and over. It was and still is a great love song.

I grew up hearing my mom playing this type of music... and i grew to love and appreciate it...
One of my favorite songs of all time.
Phillip Bailey was born to Sing this Amazing Song. No One could Do this Song Justice like he can.
Certain groups will never die. EWF is right at the top. It sounds as great today as it did 30+ years ago, and it will still sound as great 30 years from now!
I listen to this song everyday. After a long day of hard work this tune brings me to a mellow mood.

Earth , Wind and Fire , you deserve all the credit for your music geniuses
Timeless. I always come back to this.
OK I've seen EWF a few times in concert over the years and loved it. But this has to be the best Philip Bailey performance I've ever heard.
I remember back in the early 70s listening to these fellas. It brings back so many good memories. This was universal music that reached all across the world and it still does to this very day.
I still get those goose bumps everytime he hits those high notes... hes been blessed with that voice...
I saw them on Friday night here in Boston and Phillip Bailey is better than ever!!!
Earth wind and fire reminds me of my dad hanging around his stereo recording his songs and what not...always will remember him this way....
My dad used to play this song when I was a kid. I may be a heavy metal dude, but I sure know how to appreciate good music...
