    To clear everything up: He did not fail those first lifts. They were warm-up sets used to build up to his max. When you hold that much weight over your head for multiple reps you get fatigued, which would sabotage your max attempt meaning you already have used up your energy in your warm-up.

      Yeah man.In my opinion Klokov is the strongest weightlifter of all time (109kg)...His lifts are ridiculous,to bad he didn't do as well in competition.The record for snatch and clean and jerk in the 109kg is 199kg snatch and 240kg clean and jerk...Numbers that Kokov hits in training...He literally did a hang pause snatch 200kg at one of his training sessions and his beat clean and jerk is i think 244kg...But its not official unfortunately.

      Those 1st few reps might have been performed as a "preparation" for his 1 rep max (almost like an energy-conservation approach before performing your 1RM). Dmitry Klokov was probably thinking "190kg... I've done this before. I'm just going to review my form with this rep before doing my PR"

    • @markmondrinos7721
      @markmondrinos7721 6 ปีที่แล้ว +48

      With the 200kg he was just warming up the explosion from hips to catching the weight, making sure the bar is moving right and winding up in the right place, but not wasting energy stabilizing the bar or standing up until reaching the true max rep. Its not a meet after all, just a training max.

      Dimitri was a -105 not a +105. The WR snatch in the -105 category is 200kg, so he lifted 5kg more.

    • @mtw9592
      @mtw9592 7 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      At the time of shooting he was most likely +105kg, still impressive ofc

      Majed Twijiri I mean we was probably 108 at the most based on how low he kept his bf% throughout his career even through training, but everyone trains higher than their comp weight although his cuts were probably water weight.

      in training you will always find people lifting more than the WR so they can be "sure" to lift a smaller weight in competition

      You're right, but I didn't mean it in a negative way like "oh it's in his head one leg is longer" - I just didn't feel like it was my place to outright say one leg is longer than the other as I haven't gone up to the man and measured them.

    It shows how much difference straps make. I reckon that if you work specifically to make your grip stronger you will add a few kilos to your snatch.

      Sir Lew
      You were right I was struggling to snatch 60kg but with straps I made it to 203kg on my first session. Just shy of this guy! He just has better straps though

    • @thepope2412
      @thepope2412 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Straps do help though. When you grip something and it's too heavy there is a nerve in your arm that prevents you from picking it up. Training grip strength and using straps help counter that.

    Se equilibrasse la postura e quindi l'utilizzo dei arti inferiori potrebbe fare anche di più ma credo che ormai sia tardi.
    If he rebalances the posture and the use of the lower limbs he could do even more but I think it's too late.

    Those blue straps or whatever that he has on his shins, are they only for protecting against the bar scraping on the leg? And what does the "bandage" straps do? (Sorry for wrong words)

    • @philheathslegalteam
      @philheathslegalteam 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The ones on his leg are knee sleeves that he just wears around the shin to protect from scrapes. The straps on his hands are for increasing grip on the bar, possibly up to 90% more grip
