I play games for 30 years now. This could be my favorite of all of the games I played. I was actually surprised when the game started. I was not expecting such quality! This is pure Art! The music, the graphics, the gameplay, the replayability, and of course the characters are to fall in love with. And the story... OMG the story is amazing and subtly deep. In these dark times Ori's light warmed my heart. A lot of respect for Moon Studios! There are no possible ways that a gem could ever be polished as perfectly as this beauty. Another game pls!!!! @@siZeDcuBe Cool! I didn't know they all had meanings behind them. Do you know anything about the ones from OatWotW? Baur is understandably bear in some language, but Kwolok and Mora and Moki and Seir?
@@89odev Most names have meanings, I just googled them Seir means "rough, hairy" but the general root שער (s'r) appears to primarily express intense negative emotion or the experience of violence. Considering Seir was shattered in five I'd say it is the latter. Mora is in lots of languages, in Irish it means "star of the sea" (star of the underground?). I can't find any translation for Kwolok, kinda sounds like the noise a frog makes euphemetically though. Moki is Native American Hopi for "deer". Not as nice translations this time around except for Seir.
Not as popular and the "nostalgia" from older gamers with FF7 plus the band wagon hype of younger people wanting to be a part of it. The others game all had great soundtracks too, but this game has special music.
Because simply put, FFVII has the best soundtrack in all gaming, I would go as far as to say it's the best soundtrack out of any medium. Nobuo uematsu is a musical genius and created a masterpiece. Ori has a gorgeous soundtrack though.
@@philbarton2832 whether it's the best soundtrack in all gaming can be debated, but I wouldn't go as far as to say that it's the best soundtrack out of any medium.
@@malarkey4509 I know it's a big shout but when you look at each track individually the quality truly shines through. The fact that it was just as incredible way back in 1997 with limited audio tech is testament to its greatness. These are just my opinions. Let's talk about Mouldwood Depths. I'm not gonna lie, it scared the crap out of me when I first heard the starting of the music, and then literally got killed by the darkness colliding on me. Like it was completely unexpected. And then trying to find your way around there, actually growing a fear of this darkness... definitely one of my favorite locations in the game because it shocked me so much 🥴 1:23:15
Here is the comment, the comment that I was looking for. Thanks to the 2020 lockdown because of pandemic is the reason why I could stay playing this masterpiece.
I’d assume most people who are in here have played through the whole game already, but please-I BEG YOU-if you haven’t played the game yet, then please play the game first before listening through the whole soundtrack. You need to experience this all for the first time in the game itself to get the best out of it. But after you beat this game, yeah, go ahead and play the whole soundtrack on loop like I do lol. I promise you’ll unlock the full majesty of this game’s soundtrack if you play the original game before playing this one though. Words can’t describe how perfect everything is once you realize how Gareth Coker called back to motifs from the original game all throughout this game’s soundtrack.
Thank you Bidoofus, very cool! Memes aside I 100% agree with this, pleaseee play through the game and its prequel to understand how amazing this soundtrack is...
YES. I played the first game after falling in love with the music and I decided not to touch this game's soundtrack until I finished. Now the time has come. This is one of the best games I've ever played. Period. And I'm not normally into these types of games.
I wholeheartedly disagree, to say that you need to play the game to get the most out of the OST is a disservice. It tells a story, so if you don’t/can’t play the game then you can still enjoy that story. The music should never rely on the game to create the best experience, the music should be an experience of its own.
@@garamoth97 The music is definitely an experience on its own, but some of the titles are spoilery. Also, the music feels more powerful when you first experience it during gameplay. The boss themes especially have more of an impact when you're struggling to fight and Ori's theme starts blasting in your ears during the 3rd phase to hype you up.
Scurvy McChisel The way I see it, you’ll have a more long lasting and emotional connection to each track in a video game if you have a concrete grasp of the context behind when and why it plays during the game. I’d imagine most people would establish those sorts of strong mental connections best during their initial exposures to each track, and so I feel the best way to first experience the soundtrack is, at least for the most part, naturally alongside the game’s own progression. Can those connections still be formed after listening to the soundtrack and then playing the game? Absolutely. But I feel like there’s some songs in video games we only like as much as we do because we were first exposed to them alongside some specifically-timed event. In this game especially there’s some moments in the soundtrack where simply hearing a particular motif at a certain moment in time-matched with what’s happening in the game-is itself a means of garnering new meaning behind the musical piece. Hopefully what I’m getting at makes sense lol. Honestly ClarkusMarkus summed up what I was getting at pretty well. Just think of some of the songs from video games you love and ask yourself whether someone who hasn’t experienced the game it’s from would see the same level of appeal.
This is how I would describe Ori's games, of which their music is an integral part: Many tears of sadness and grief, but many many more of awe and beauty.
i have played many games over the years. I played on the original nintendo block. the xbox, you name it. My entire life basically gaming away in these fantastic worlds but not one game until this one made me want to forget i ever played it just to do it all over again. This game has left a mark and i will never forget it.
Halo Infinite hopefully will have an equivalent to the warthog run of halo 1 and 3......and hopefully he will be the one scoring that piece! The Ori chase music is so good and adrenaline pumping....he should be able to kill it with halo!

I will otam Your tone Probably not Ku, she’s a big owl now and that would change the gameplay too much. It’s pretty much a guarantee that we’ll play as the spirit coming off of Ori in the end
Ori soundtracks = MASTERPIECES Shadows of Mouldwood is just so ...touching.Whenever I listen to it I actually dont think that much of the game and think about depressive moments, I get totally immersed in that melody , damn I love/hate how can music do this. Thank you Gareth Coker
The game came out three years ago and I still remember how much fun I had playing it and how I cried at the ending, one of those endings that leave you wanting to cry, this game is a masterpiece. I still come back to listen to this soundtrack and it's very nostalgic.
Just noticed that the Blind Forest soundtrack starts with the drum sound (Ori, Lost in the Storm) and Will of the Wisps ends with the same drum sound (Ori, Embracing the Light).
1:27:40 so beautiful, amidst the darkness in mouldwood i ventured through the caves full with bodies of flies, listening to the astonoshing melody, one of my favourite moments
I specifically remember that when I was playing through Mouldwood for the first time, my mom made spagetti but I refused to eat it because it reminded me of the dead worms in Mouldwood, which grossed me out
Gareth is an unbelievably amazing composer. He has created nothing but masterpieces. And he manages to perfect every style of music possible. He creates art for the ears
@@X.lo. By opinions like this is how the word "Underrated" gain it's meaning, of course a stage soundtrack would have less relevance than an actual event one, but they're so much quieter, like, the composer know that these kind of pieces is meant to be.

"09 A shine upon inkwater marsh" is what made me immediately pause the game and lookup this soundtrack after it gave me goosebumps. What an insanely entrancing song.
I hadn't played a game all the way through and enjoyed it as much as WotW in years, and I think it was a lot to do with how the soundtrack pulled me in. Probably the only time I was proud of owning an Xbox One x and the only game for which I would but it again. Mesmerising music and score, spectacular visuals, Genius level designs and moving story. This game is one of the best in the history of gaming !!!
i just finished playing the sequel to ori almost instantly after finishign the first game it is now one of my top three favorite games i've never cried so hard to a video game it's so beautiful in every way. the most beautiful game i've ever played in my entire fucking life so many creative creature and npc designs the game itself is so fucking gorgeous, the level and creature design is absolutely breathtaking the story seems happy and pretty on the outside because of the colorful visuals and creatures, but upon playing a while you learn how truly sad the game actually is The world, once full of life and love, is slowly dying because of a rotting virus, killing and corrupting everything in it, leaving one, small spirit to try and restore the life on the planet if you're a completionist, i highly recommend the game. it's a free roam 2d kind of adventure game where you can just kinda roam around the map while doing side quests if you wanna take a break from the story and bosses oh yeah, bosses gorgeous, might i add there's so many different variations, beautiful while scary at the same time oh, i forgot to add how fucking hard the game is I mean i played it on normal mode and it was already hard enough, idk if i'm brave enough to try hard mode and that's a lot coming from me since i'm a whore for challenging games anyways, there's a bunch of side quests and collectibles you can find around the map, and it's really hard if you want to 100% all the locations this took me 80% of my gameplay by the way though at the endgame you get some tips to make it way easier to 100% the game see, you don't have to do the side quests and collectibles if you don't want to, you can just play for the story which is nice for people who enjoy different kind of gameplay the game itself puts your combat and platforming skills to the test, giving you very challenging locations on the map and extremely hard boss fights; which i really like god please PLEASE check out the concept art: it's a creative and beautiful fantasy heaven, i've spent hours just looking at the art my nintendo gallery is now filled with screenshots of the game lmfao and the soundtrack.. GOD the soundtrack. one of my favorite ost's by FAR it's absolutely beautiful. just captures the aesthetic and feel of the games perfectly been listening to it all week i'm such a whore for good sound design in a game, and ori is just that i found myself just walking around the map cuz i enjoyed the sound of ori's footsteps on the different textures (i always wondered why it sounded so nice until i Just now learnt that ori has small lil hooves lol) i wont spoil any further if anyone happens to want to play through it :) but if you enjoy challenging games with lots of combat and collecting, you wont regret it there is a lot of backtracking, but i personally didn't mind at all since i got an excuse to revisit the beautiful areas though if you get frustrated easily, i recommend going on easy mode at first at least anyways, if you wanna check the games out, they're out on xbox and pc, as well as the nintendo switch which is what i played them on the first game is called: ori and the blind forest sequel: ori and the will of the wisps PLAY THE FIRST GAME FIRST!! you'll be confused if you start with the sequel! aanyways, anyone that's here listenign to this right now, congratulations! you're my new favorite person! props for us for having great videogame taste. have a beautiful night everyone
When the main theme kicks in during chase sections... Shivers. (And vs Mora when you're in the last phase omg.) Ori is hands down one of my favorite games ever.
Shriek and ori is such a well designed song. It perfectly catches both ori, ku, and shrieks theme, while adding more like a bit from light of Nibel and THE MAIN THEME. Just perfect.
Many people think the ending is depressing and sad but I think it's a beautiful and heartwarming ending. It's also beautifully hopeful since although there's a bittersweet element to it there is hope permeating every frame of the ending scene.
Its amazing that the soundtracks still have the melody from Ori and the Blind Forest but different versioned with a different mix of other soundtracks, making it a game with special soundtracks.

@Jimi T. Eh, I kinda like it! I've listened to the soundtrack a lot in the past few months, and when I hear something different or less recognizable in the game, it keeps things fresh.

What I love about this game the most isn’t just how amazing the soundtrack is but how amazingly well they tied it to a game like for example mouldwood depths absolutely talented violinist playing amazingly powerful but equally eerily music for a gloomy but filled with life place just absolutely beautiful I can’t wait for the next game but honestly they have peaked this is the beat game ever created
After all this time listening to the OST and playing both games I must say that it's actually the Silent Woods that moved me the most. The quietness and sadness this place emits is hitting me hard every time I enter them for the first time again or doing the tragic sidequests there. And the soundtrack is really carrying that feeling this dying place is filled with.
Yeah, I get goosebumps like every-time I hear this music. And, obviously, I cry a LOT when I listen. Literally THE best game in all of time and history...
everybody who dislikes this ost is not human nor haven't played the game. What a wonderful journey all two games are, it's truly unbelievable! i only played the first game because of the soundtrack and it was just overhelming as i finally saw the pictures and felt the story to this wonderful music. then i heard there will be a second game and i was so hyped. Then, in the beginning of March 2020, i saw that the ost of the second game was online. the first time i listened to it i thought, this is the same as the first soundtrack but after listening to it the 3rd time i knew, this is something more special. after a half year of just listening to the sountrack i was finally able to play it... I NEVER thought that the second game will be better than the first one. no matter if gameplay, story or music! Moon Studios and Gareth Coker created such an atmospheric and emotional masterpiece and everybody should have played both games at least once in a lifetime. Goosebumps and more and more goosebumps and a lot of crying. Thank you Moon Studios for this wonderful game and this heartwarming and also heatbreaking story
The music the style and graphics atmosphere is like a dream! When i hear the music in the main menu, and look at the trees blowing and the colors in this amazing artistic video game, it makes me zone out, its like a dream! It's beyond words.
I must admit I had a doubt in Gareth Coker. The first Ori soundtrack was a total masterpiece and I checked the author's other spotify albums and they were all very different from Ori's. So I thought this was a one shot, that can't be possibly beaten or even matched in the sequel. Boy I was wrong... And I'm so glad I was wrong!

The music made me feel true fear inside that part of the map, really.
@@kiara6237 for me, it was the spiders lol. i hate the damn things. even in my video games.
Fun fact - Ori means "my light" in Hebrew.
What about the other names? Naru, Gumo, Sein?
@@89odev Naru is Japanese for the verb become or assist in becoming.
Sein is Basque for innocent.
Gumo is slang for spider in Japanese.
@@siZeDcuBe Cool! I didn't know they all had meanings behind them. Do you know anything about the ones from OatWotW? Baur is understandably bear in some language, but Kwolok and Mora and Moki and Seir?
@@89odev Most names have meanings, I just googled them
Seir means "rough, hairy" but the general root שער (s'r) appears to primarily express intense negative emotion or the experience of violence.
@@siZeDcuBe Oh, I tried to Google Ori and got only nonsense responses. I wonder what exotic language the name Shriek is from?
how the hell did this game not win best score/soundtrack at the game of the year awards
They got robbed
And then trying to find your way around there, actually growing a fear of this darkness... definitely one of my favorite locations in the game because it shocked me so much 🥴
1:23:15
I was ready to get out of that hellish place
I love spiders and Mora was a tenceing boss I loved it
It was just... The perfect game. Every way you looked at it. It deserves to be celebrated.
As a fan of the first game I was so happy and moved to recognize the absolutely sad theme at Silent Woods from the first game 1:05:02
When you thought 2020 already bad, but this OST heal your wounded mind and soul
Here is the comment, the comment that I was looking for.
Thanks to the 2020 lockdown because of pandemic is the reason why I could stay playing this masterpiece.
This game and Omori both kept me going over pandemic
19:38 one of my absolute favorite parts of this soundtrack, the music is so beautiful... this entire ost is just breathtaking.
When the string section comes in for "A Shine Upon Inkwater Marsh" I get goosebumps every time.
Currently playing the game for the first time now and that theme really got to me. Feels very John Barry (James Bond) to me.
I truly feel that is one of the most powerful moments across all game soundtracks. Coker is beyond brilliant
That part is so nostalgic holy shit
@@garamoth97
The music is definitely an experience on its own, but some of the titles are spoilery.
This is how I would describe Ori's games, of which their music is an integral part:
Many tears of sadness and grief, but many many more of awe and beauty.
i have played many games over the years. I played on the original nintendo block. the xbox, you name it. My entire life basically gaming away in these fantastic worlds but not one game until this one made me want to forget i ever played it just to do it all over again. Whoa, I didn't realize Gareth Coker was doing the Halo Infinite soundtrack too. I just got a lot more excited for that game now!
Halo Infinite hopefully will have an equivalent to the warthog run of halo 1 and 3......and hopefully he will be the one scoring that piece! The Ori chase music is so good and adrenaline pumping....he should be able to kill it with halo!

1:27:40 so beautiful, amidst the darkness in mouldwood i ventured through the caves full with bodies of flies, listening to the astonoshing melody, one of my favourite moments
Love the sadness of the piece. It's so mournful
This part has a very strange but exciting feeling to it, that is probably why I find it so awesome!
I specifically remember that when I was playing through Mouldwood for the first time, my mom made spagetti but I refused to eat it because it reminded me of the dead worms in Mouldwood, which grossed me out

When i played the game peacefully, then suddenly that wolf appeared outta thin air, i almost shat myself cuz of the jumpscare
I hadn't played a game all the way through and enjoyed it as much as WotW in years, and I think it was a lot to do with how the soundtrack pulled me in. Blended perfectly with each of the levels and always hit me in the feels. I still remember getting to Luma after the gloomy, creepy, tense journey through Mouldwood and having my mood totally lifted by the music there.
Congratulations and thanks Mr Gareth Coker!
I took advantage of quarantine by beating this beautiful game 🥺
Probably the only time I was proud of owning an Xbox One x and the only game for which I would but it again. Mesmerising music and score, spectacular visuals, Genius level designs and moving story. This game is one of the best in the history of gaming !!!
The Windswept Wastes is a gorgeous symphony of personal nostalgia and the eerie calls of the vast desolate spaces of the universe
A huge thanks to Gareth Coker who composed these beautiful sound-tracks, their are soooo pleasing !
i just finished playing the sequel to ori almost instantly after finishign the first game
it is now one of my top three favorite games
i've never cried so hard to a video game
it's so beautiful in every way. the most beautiful game i've ever played in my entire fucking life
so many creative creature and npc designs
the game itself is so fucking gorgeous, the level and creature design is absolutely breathtaking
the story seems happy and pretty on the outside because of the colorful visuals and creatures, but upon playing a while you learn how truly sad the game actually is
The world, once full of life and love, is slowly dying because of a rotting virus, killing and corrupting everything in it, leaving one, small spirit to try and restore the life on the planet
if you're a completionist, i highly recommend the game.
it's a free roam 2d kind of adventure game where you can just kinda roam around the map while doing side quests if you wanna take a break from the story and bosses
oh yeah, bosses
gorgeous, might i add
there's so many different variations, beautiful while scary at the same time
oh, i forgot to add how fucking hard the game is
I mean i played it on normal mode and it was already hard enough, idk if i'm brave enough to try hard mode
and that's a lot coming from me since i'm a whore for challenging games
anyways, there's a bunch of side quests and collectibles you can find around the map, and it's really hard if you want to 100% all the locations
this took me 80% of my gameplay by the way
though at the endgame you get some tips to make it way easier to 100% the game
see, you don't have to do the side quests and collectibles if you don't want to, you can just play for the story which is nice for people who enjoy different kind of gameplay
the game itself puts your combat and platforming skills to the test, giving you very challenging locations on the map and extremely hard boss fights; which i really like
god please PLEASE check out the concept art: it's a creative and beautiful fantasy heaven, i've spent hours just looking at the art
my nintendo gallery is now filled with screenshots of the game lmfao
and the soundtrack.. GOD the soundtrack. one of my favorite ost's by FAR
it's absolutely beautiful. just captures the aesthetic and feel of the games perfectly
been listening to it all week
i'm such a whore for good sound design in a game, and ori is just that
i found myself just walking around the map cuz i enjoyed the sound of ori's footsteps on the different textures
(i always wondered why it sounded so nice until i Just now learnt that ori has small lil hooves lol)
i wont spoil any further if anyone happens to want to play through it :)
but if you enjoy challenging games with lots of combat and collecting, you wont regret it
there is a lot of backtracking, but i personally didn't mind at all since i got an excuse to revisit the beautiful areas
though if you get frustrated easily, i recommend going on easy mode at first at least
anyways, if you wanna check the games out, they're out on xbox and pc, as well as the nintendo switch which is what i played them on
the first game is called: ori and the blind forest
sequel: ori and the will of the wisps
PLAY THE FIRST GAME FIRST!! you'll be confused if you start with the sequel!
aanyways, anyone that's here listenign to this right now, congratulations! you're my new favorite person!
props for us for having great videogame taste.

Play it. Way different experience. Loading the second game after beating the first. When i heard that menu music i shed some real man tears.
Many people think the ending is depressing and sad but I think it's a beautiful and heartwarming ending. It's also beautifully hopeful since although there's a bittersweet element to it there is hope permeating every frame of the ending scene.
Its amazing that the soundtracks still have the melody from Ori and the Blind Forest but different versioned with a different mix of other soundtracks, making it a game with special soundtracks.

where is this animation from? Its not in the game
Number 14 unforgettable.
This is one of the best game soundtracks I have ever heard. Excellent music production at Moon.
I love how in the game, there are still little gems of music that didn't make it onto the official soundtrack... like the little piano part at the end of Strength of the Forest, or the way the Sanctuary in the Glades music changes when you go inside someone's house.
@Jimi T. Eh, I kinda like it! I've listened to the soundtrack a lot in the past few months, and when I hear something different or less recognizable in the game, it keeps things fresh.
Hey, these pieces that doesn't show up in *official* sound tracks are the one that will do looking up to *Complete* soundtracks :D
Just type down Ori 2 complete soundtrack at the navigation bar.
Eh, at least it isn't missing half the game's soundtrack like Blind Forest.
That Moki father :(
01:19:00 Had to clean my eyes. So sad and beautiful at the same time.. and this music gave me a lot of goosebumps..
Yess, one of my favourite songs from this soundtrack...
Yeah, I get goosebumps like every-time I hear this music. And, obviously, I cry a LOT when I listen. Literally THE best game in all of time and history...
Finally waiting for a groupof ppl who notice this part, yea, sad n at the same time very uplifting
Ohh yaaahh
Type of sound that makes your soul ache. I adore this theme.
everybody who dislikes this ost is not human nor haven't played the game.
That part from 19:38 - 20:19 makes me feel things
The music the style and graphics atmosphere is like a dream! When i hear
the music in the main menu, and look at the trees blowing and the
colors in this amazing artistic video game, it makes me zone out, its
like a dream!
I mean, the same dude composed Ark music. He is very talented. What do you expect from Coker?
I know quite a lot of words, but none that would fully describe how beautiful this soundtrack is.
Definitely a masterpiece of artwork, now I see why it took moon studios five years to make both Ori games and the music is the icing in the cake
You know the soundtrack is amazing when you relive the game's story and emotions just by listening to it!

YEA! when I played through it a thousand times on hard, that is exactly how it felt when I got to that part. So much adrenaline
I love this part of Escaping the Sandworm, that part alone makes it my second favorite song
I died so many times playing this part and I'm not even mad because of this soundtrack
Ori escaping scenes are so gooooood
When I first saw this game, i thought it would be bad, but when I played it, I started to love it. Never judge a book by its cover

he aint eternal. Ori will die off eventually. just as Spirit Willow did.

So many bits of the fight as well
