I was & am in love with her unique voice, smooth as silk, no one could come close. Such a talent , & she & her brother Richard had a combination which no one can ever match!
What happened to Karen Carpenter was that she was a fellow traveler through this sad vale of tears, but before she departed this life, she left us with a legacy of beautiful music that will live on forever.
The part that’s amazing is how she didn’t start singing or drumming until her mid teens. Simply a God given voice that was effortless and natural like no other.
My daughter didn’t start singing until 15… now has a doctorate in music. My advice is to encourage your children to pursue their interests. U never know what wonderful things might might come from it. ❤️RIP Karen❤️
The year Karen died was the first year I was learning my profession of being a professional flutist. I can still remember listening to Karen’s musical phrasing style and applying that to my music. Even to this day when learning a new piece I think of how Karen would have phrased the line. I still love Karen Carpenter.
Sad that my first memories of her were adults grieving her death. I have discovered her life, and awesome personality thanks to TH-cam. My toddler nephew loves the Beatles but I introduced him to Karen and he asks for “da Mickey” (Mr. Postman video)… she will live on and is still loved by future generations. :)
Great post Michael. It is the first half of the programme, but very accurate for a change. Most stuff about Karen really is about what people thought Karen should be like and not really Karen herself. Wish you had the rest of this as, like I am saying, it is very rare to actually have something about Karen that is actually about Karen and not what others thought Karen was like. An awesome part was when Paul Williams said that the song Rainy Days and Mondays was written about his mom. Karen sang songs others wrote and Karen's singing was actually based on Karen hearing her voice and making her voice sound a certain way, and not based on emotion or personal experiences or such. Karen actually told me that she would try to block out personal stuff while singing as it would cause her to forget the lyrics or such. Excellent post and much appreciated.
The guy who wrote Little Girl Blue said that he believed you could hear her pain in her songs, but of course she wasn't a songwriter so he was trying to read something into her artistic interpretation or something. I figured that was a bunch of hooey. You just pretty much confirmed that.
Every song is perfect pitch. Loved their music still do. I remember the extreme shock upon hearing she had passed away. It's been many years and miles but her voice brings me right back to this golden age of music.
I grew up in the 70's and these two OWNED A.M. radio. I wasn't really a fan then, but I damn well know all the lyrics! Much respect to both of them. Her death brought world wide awareness of Anorexia. Nobody knew what it was until she died. Then, EVERYONE knew.
I love you ❤️. I struggle from eating. I have so much anxiety I cannot eat. . I just can't . I listened to her as a teenager . I never new she had a eating disorder until last year.
Rosa, please, please seek some help for your eating...! I also pray that you would know Christ through believing and trusting in His word, He will comfort your anxiety. Look for a good Christian counselor. Blessings.
It is a tragedy that she was led to believe she was not a beautiful woman. She may not have succumbed to dressing trashy to get attention. She had the shiniest of hair and the biggest eyes. She had a great smile. So much of her was pretty . Why her mother was cruel to her makes no sense. After she was made a lead singer and she was changing her hair and clothes she was even more stunning and CLASSY. I just cannot fathom how she suffered. Anyone who brought that much joy to the world DESERVED BETTER!
@guywill7875 Her mom wasn't very affectionate and critical of her, but again, it was not cruel. If her mother was that terrible of a person, Karen would've avoided her completely. The anorexia, failed marriage, and failed solo career were not her mother's fault. Karen, despite being a great singer, wasn't strong enough to fight her demons. Even her brother Richard, who was closest and loved her the most, has stated his mother was like him, just not very affectionate people.
UPDATE: i found the song im laying here watching one of her documentaries and about thirty min in and im lookn around on ytube i heard it playing i looked up my tv so fast i couldve given myself whiplash lol i flipped out the song is goodbye to love finally i got it thnx

About her career? Absolutely 💯 About her personal life and family? Not so much. He friends However let it out in a few good books. Again. They only knew what they were supposed too. She was on the road her whole adult life. Only Richard knew her better than anyone. However she could even keep secrets from him. As he claims he knew very little of her illness or why she was loosing so much weight. Karen Anne was an angel sent straight from heaven 💞 🌹 💖
Low Potassium?? It Still tear at Her Voice. ....Karen Born 1950 me 1953..... Her voice was the voice of an Angel and Kept me Grounded,... when I was on a SSBN ( Missile Submarine) in the 1970's ready to destroy the world..... Thank God all worked out except she is no longer with us, My 2 favorite songs,... I can not live without love and Sometimes...
Thank you for sharing such a nice documentary. I just love the professional production. Would be great if you but the whole material until the end of the interviews. Greetings from México
wooooow thnx for this i was just on itunes listening to her maybe u can help me with something its a song she sings i heard in another documentary (hoop dreams) on showtime i know that voice from anywhere that very beautiful haunting soulful voice i cant figure out that song its only a snippet and i didnt try to shazam it yet thats y im on itunes tryn to find it i know it when i hear it there are a few songs that sound like it and came close to it but no cigar yet haha so pls i hope we can chat and maybe u can help me with this one im a huuuuge fan and ill be watchn the movie later thnx again
Listening in 2023 I of course recognize the sound that was popular for this kind of music back then. To my ears now, it sounds over produced. Simpler harmonic & line accompaniment would be a cleaner support to her voice.
Can't listen to Richard talk about Karen. A domineering character like most big brothers of that era were. So I'll listen to this in stages to get through it as he comes across as a cold fish; very talented though. The fact theri father is English(!) explains her diction and singing talent. Karen was a Superstar with the most beautiful voice ever.
What a gift Karen's voice was. At certain times, it's just about as perfect as a voice can sound. RIP Karen. Voice of an angel.
She was simply the most beautiful female singer Ever in the World!!! Nobody has ever or will ever come close to her ❤️🎤🎼❤️
instaBlaster.
I agree completely with you Karen
This Angel was on a higher level than any other human being who has ever sang. Will never be anyone like her again.
My favorite singer of all time. So glad she shared her beautiful voice with the world.
Currency killed her. Lack of respect to human life that western societies decayed into.
Just can't get enough of the Carpenters recently..Your voice always made feel safe in a uncertain world. RIP beautiful Karen.

Your voice calms my aching soul
I NEED their harmonies to soothe me during this shit show on steroids that is today’s world.
She had the most unique voice I ever heard in my lifetime!💯

I could listen to Karen's beautiful voice all day.
My mom's favorite singer. I have so many fond memories of riding in the car with my parents and Mom singing along with the music.

Tnx for posting
Can we find the second part of this anywhere?
You're never going to get the truth about Karen from Richard.
We couldn’t get the truth from KAREN herself.... anyone else’s opinion is just speculation (including yours). Hindsight is 20/20.
@@tugboat2 Watch the documentaries.

Where’s the entire program?

Richard loved his sister.
Where is the video? There is only a picture of her.
It's a radio programme.
What no video?
Didn't like Richard, or his arrangements, but her voice, blissful.
What a doofus
Reviewing her life🥰😍😘
