I like how characters like Johnny Cage and Kung Lao are arrogant and egotistical, but also genuinely heroic, well-meaning, and deep down, loved and respected by their friends.

I'm just amazed Rain wanted to be in a movie. Probably just wants to take over the film industry so he can make movies depicting himself as a God and re-telling altered versions of events he was involved in...
I'm a Rain simp, but him getting roasted by *everyone* is pretty hilarious.
All this dialogue really affirms that Ed Boon really does hate Rain. He brought him back for the fans, but Rain is still seen as a joke to everyone in the MK Universe.

Mileena, Frost, Kano, and Kung Lao are all seen as bad versions of other characters in the game, yet still gets respect, liked, and to have some potential in them from a few people here and there. Rain is literally a half god and no one respects and trust him in the slightest. I love it.

Hence the reason why everyone hates him. Not only does he have a ego but he's also a traitor who has tried to kill not only his half-brothers, but also the dragon-guardians Orin and Caro, and his half-brothers' mother Delia, basically he will say whatever it takes in order to ensure he wins and when you outlived your usefulness to him, he'll stab you in the back to get what he wants. Heck he even outright admits to Mileena in one of his intros with her that even if his plan for her rebellion worked that he would've raised a rebellion against her to take the throne for himself.

I haven't played many MK games, but why does everyone hate Rain? I mean like his attitude kinda sucks but so is Shao Kahn's. Did Rain do something really bad? Sorry just wondering because I don't really know a lot on Mortal Kombat.
For example hes arrogant, he betrayed Mileena.. Hes a person u cant trust.
But hes still one of my favorite characters
Everyone hates Rain because Ed Boon hates Rain. It seems like Boon kinda extended his opinion of the character into the universe by making him a joke to everyone.
For some characters, it's a personal thing, he tried to have Kotal killed in the last game and abandoned Mileena when he saw that she was no longer useful to him. For others, it's really just his general attitude that causes the hate. He's willing to betray everyone and everything to get a hold of the throne, and looks down on everyone as inferior. He doesn't know to deal with people who turn him down.
As soon as he sees that he can't gain anything from someone or they have no intetest in helping him, he automatically tries to kill them. He also wants to destroy Outworld to restore his homeworld of Edenia, and most characters are against the idea of destroying an entire realm, especially since he just wants to restore Edenia so he can rule it. For most characters, I don't believe it's really personal, it's just attitude and loyalty wise he's not someone you want on your side.
