After almost six years of a strict vegan diet, not eating vegan junk food, daily fruit smoothies with massive spirulina, etc., I found myself in a deep dark depression with suicidal thoughts and one attempt.I quit vegan diet and slowly improved. However it wasn't until I started eating a carnivore diet that my depression completely disappeared.

Truthfully I have IBS and my digestive flora was weakened and I began to realize that you can fk up your system eating just one food and if there's an apocalypse and you can't get meat it's not a good time for constipation and diarrhea. What is surprising is that people will mistrust an idea that has zero cost and can be done by anyone yet will blindly trust a solution that requires them to buy something! Snake oil has never been free so if something free makes you feel better, it is unlikely to be snake oil!!
It’s simple enough to see if reducing carbs lowers glucose. For mental health, if cutting carbs makes you feel in any way better, then surely it’s a ‘no brainer’ (pardon the pun). Why wouldn’t you lower the carbs even further? Perhaps you’ll feel better still!

I had similar problems with my two boys about twenty years ago. All through the program I was thinking that we wouldn't have these problems if people knew how bad the food most of us eat really is. 100 years ago sugar which was expensive and in short supply was deregulated in America, the price fell through the floor as the market was flooded with sugar, no coincidence that our health and well being has been in decline since. Cheap sugar was manna from heaven for the food industry. As Dr. Ede stated our health started to become worse over the last 100 years, the correlation is the deregulation of sugar. Things always happen for a reason. Keep up the good work.

Humans have been eating sugar for hundreds of years, albeit not in the quantity of today.I beleive that its the seed oils that are fueling this rapid decline in human health. Most people cook in them as well as restaurants and seed oils are in the vast majority of highly processed food.Seed oils inhibits the bodies ability to digest sugar so along with the excess sugar and seed oils we have an explosion of diabetes world wide from children to adults.

@@GeorgiaEdeMDHi Georgia, I devoured (excused the pun) your brilliant book. I went from a ‘whole’ food plant based diet to grass fed beef (mainly ground beef), 25 grams of raw lamb liver, and a can of sardines in water each day, with water as my sole fluid. Dropping the Greek yogurt and eggs after reading your book also had a big impact on me as well.
The improvement in my mental health has been profound!! My physical health was already pretty good, but has also improved.
One thing not mentioned is the simplicity benefit of whole food carnivore e.g. no shopping list, no recipes, minimal cooking time and cleaning up. We are the only species that eats and drinks for entertainment.

I have been a vegetarian all my life and I am eating plant based foods that work really really well for my system. And I am doing okay. I am in my mid forties. I can't suddenly switch over to a carnivore diet. My body will reject it because it isn't used to it. This lady actually doesn't know what she is talking about. You can't just suddenly start becoming a carnivore after you reach your 40's. The human body doesn't work like that. You body will have soo many problems adjusting to the new type of food especially if it is something totally new. As we get older, our bodies will have a harder time accepting new stuff. I am indian, but I eat all types of vegetarian cuisine like Italian, Mexican, Chinese, and of course indian etc.. And I am sticking to that because that is what my body accepts and is comfortable with. I take egg indirectly through cakes, cookies, brownies and any baked goods, but I can't eat eggs that are actually cooked for breakfast because I didn't grow up eating like that. Once you reach middle age, it's very very hard to change what your system is already used to and try to introduce something new into your body.

Hi there, thanks for your feedback. Some people do find it difficult to adapt their diet to a low carb, healthy fat approach after decades of being told to eat vast quantities of carbohydrates. We recommend taking it slowly, and treating it as a gentle experiment. We've had members in their 80s, with type 2 diabetes for more than two decades, start out with low carb and reverse type 2 diabetes and improve blood glucose - so it is achievable if you can adapt your mindset. Here's a story from Defeat Diabetes member Bill who did exactly that. We hope it inspires you believe that you can change the way you eat - even after middle age! www.defeatdiabetes.com.au/success-stories/bill-grattan/

I got one of my three write ups at my Behavioral Therapy job by trying to suggest that diet plays an important role in mental health and behavior. Its technically not part of my role to give medical advice, but its a no brainer and we're all forced into "just following orders" and allowing harm to come to others at our jobs.
I got auto immune disease about 15 years ago. When it first happened, I was puking every single day for 2 years, and I was nauseous every single day for another 4 after that, then I still getting nauseous every other day at least once a week for another 3 years and im just now getting to the point where I feel semi-normal. I could ONLY eat eggs for the first 6 years, anything else I would puke up. Including juice, spinach, strawberries, any kind of whole and natural food. Only eggs, and cheese. There was a few specific brands of corn chips I would get to put the cheese on. Then the spices like turmeric and cyanne pepper.
Doing things like eating eggs, not eating processed food, replacing table sugar in coffee with honey, eating medicinal mushooms (psychedelic and Red Reishi) were all things I think saved my life.
EDIT: Shes more extreme on this stuff than I am though. You can have sugar, you can have alcohol, you can have carbs, you just don't want to be doing it every week. If you are really sick like I was, then you do want to cut all that stuff out entirely until you recover completely.

53:48 ive drank coffee practically every day of my life since I was about 8 years old, I drink more coffee than water now and don't suffer from any problems of dehydration.
I am also somewhat usual in that caffeine has a paradoxical effect on me and it used to make me tired, now it does basically nothing since I drink it so much.
Coffee is good for you, the shit we put in coffee (including table sugar) is not. I use Honey in place of sugar now, unbelievably massive difference, I stopped getting head aches. Id argue that home made coffee can be a nutritional supplement depending on the quality of what you get. Its good for most people that don't have problems with caffeine, even helps prevent some gut and colon cancers.

Potentially! In someone who is chronically stressed, the immune system responds less and less to the high cortisol levels. So when the body becomes desensitised to cortisol, the inflammatory response increases, and inflammation gets out of control.

Ok it depend what country you are, here in my country Romania, you get cheap organs and bones and they are good quality, not perfect quality but still. And carnivore it's just a generic term, you can add all dairy and eggs, also depend on the country with prices.

But I added up the cost of the snack foods I purchased each week- crackers and bread mostly, and purchased the equivalent in ground beef and learned a couple of different ways to eat it, plus eggs. What I don't understand for folks on the carnivore diet, is who eats just one thing? With all the beautiful food that we can eat - different coloured vegetables, lovely nuts, beans, lentils, healthy grains. Then we have people like Jordan Peterson (don't get me wrong - I love the guy), who ONLY eats beef. I just struggle to get it. I'm a vegetarian and have been for years. I'm so healthy and strong for my age. If you look at the animal kingdom, all of the critters who only eat meat, live short lives - 10 to 15 years max. If you look at the long living critters like parrots, tortoises, elephants etc, all live very long lives. How do we explain that

Rough eye rockfish can live 200 years, eats shrimp and smaller fish. killer whales and crocodiles live 120 years, Greenland shark live 270 years. When you don't eat something or have it in the house, it's like it doesn't exist and you don't even think about it. Fruit and veg has the highest levels of food waste about 45%. Most of the fibre eaten goes right through your digestion and ends up unused in the toilet. We didn't evolve by importing thousands of plant products from around the world. One product can supply all nutrients with many dishes, grass fed meat, liver, blood, and kidneys. intestine

Wheat has been in diets going back thousands of years. Eaten on the Biblical times. So the wheat itself is not really the culprit but instead the poisons used on the soils and the crops for pesticides and harvesting. Wheat has certainly been part of Western diets for many years, but has never been consumed by individuals in such quantities. Unfortunately, this has triggered a diabetes and obesity epidemic. For people with type 2 diabetes, the modern diet is catastrophic as it is laden with carbohydrates that convert to glucose in our blood - the very thing that all people with type 2 diabetes should avoid. By reducing carbohydrate intake, many people can return their blood glucose to pre-diabetic range or even achieve remission.

The Adventist cult food industry is behind the fibre lie. For many people it causes constipation and leaky bowel syndrom. Plus skin issues, arthritis, etc.
I am one of the many victims of the lie. Grains and lugumes are some of the worse foods for people with gut issues.
Started chronic constipation and arthritis at age 5. Cried myself to sleep at night as a child because of the so called growing pains in my knees.
Finally started to reverse the damage when I started removing poison grass foods from my diet and finally lugumes.
Unfortunately, after the push of the Adventist influence semi vegan food pyramid, more and more people develop bowel and other heath issues.
The nutritionalist who did the research for the food pyramid refused to have her name on it after the Democratic senator in charge let his Adventist cult food industry buddies change it to the monstrosity that came out. She warned them if they put it out and people followed it that there would be a massive increase in obesity, diabetics, heart attacks, strokes, depression, dementia, autoimmune disease, cancer, etc. She was right.
But instead of admitting their mistake they did the evil vegan gaslighting thing of blaming the victims of their bad advice and pointing out the few that could stay slim, if not healthy on their death diet.
Add Poly Ovarian Syndrom, PMS, autism, ADHD, low testosterone, messed up thyroid and likely much more to the list.
If you are worried about the microbione, for example after antibiotics, Kiefer. About an ounce a night.
