Hi there - yes, saturated fats like butter, ghee, olive oil and coconut oil are good to eat. Avoid seed oils like vegetable oil ad sunflower oil where possible. You can read more on fats on the Defeat Diabetes site here --> www.defeatdiabetes.com.au/resources/nutrition/the-skinny-on-fat-weve-been-lied-to-for-decades/ Both low carb and keto diets are safe to follow. Low carb and low calorie diets are the only eating approaches recommended by Diabetes Australian to manage blood glucose and achieve remission. Thank you for this. So much of it rings true for so many women. I was just told "lose weight," "watch your diet." I was officially diagnosed with PCOS in 1989. Nothing but fertility treatment was ever offered. Those treatments didn't work for me. Menopause brought a host of new symptoms, quite unpleasant. I'm now getting in better health than I have ever been in.

Remember, you’re not alone in this; many are on similar paths, and every step towards better health is a victory. If you ever want to share more or need support, we're here for you!

Please could you and your colleagues be aware that if people eat healthily and have a low CRP, if they develop an infection, for example mastoiditis or a perirectal access, the usual rise in inflammatory markers may not be obvious. Your assertion re person with "low" baseline CRP (or any other measurable marker) being assessed using population wide "normal" CRP range, being problematic (for the LOW-CRP individual) - This would be supportive of the view that it is useful to have a paper copy of your baseline lab values, so that your healthcare provider is comparing apples with apples. Slow cook them for about 6-12 hours, depending on how small or large pieces you cut, drain it nicely and Ta-daaa! Awesome, healthy fat to cook on! I also put it on my skin as moisturizer. When I first saw the ‘news’ story, I went searching for the study, and I attempted to contact one of the HFLC heavy hitters to have a look and provide some commentary. It is so nice to hear that my sugar addiction is actually being CAUSEDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD by something and not just ME because growing up (40 yrs ago) I didn't have a sugar addiction and I was perfectly thin 5'7 120. The last 20 years my weight has slowly creeped up, now at 56 I'm considered obese 5'7 222 and just got t2d 6 months ago and it is coming on like gangbusters and tanking my body, I'm strugging daily with severe dehydration, absolutely no thirst, ZERO ENERGY AND I MEAN ZERO, pins and needle feet, aching joints, racing heart after eating and this all came on what feels like overnight. I'd like Dr. Shanahan to discuss another concept I heard which is the fats are what cause insulin resistance and that when you add carbs they tip you over into diabetes. Thank you.
