Great review and a lot of helpful information Doug! I remember this model as a kid and I built once. One of the things I liked about it was the plastic molded tires They always seemed to fit better than the rubber tires. Thanks for sharing this.
Doug, working on this kit. Doing a lot of test fitting, have the chassis and frame taped together and the windows taped in the body. Built up the engine sans headers. Instructions don't say anything about installing the alternator to the belt. Also the instructions are very vague about engine placement. Do you just put the oil pan on the cross member? I set mine in so the part behind the sump is on the crossmember but this puts the engine too far FORWARD! Will have to cut out the front of the hood to clear the front set of injector stacks. Can't really tell in the video how you mounted yours. Thought about turning the pan around but that wouldn't be proto. Also as you stated, the body to chassis fitment is a bear.
CS - The engine does not really fit properly causing the injector stacks to be too far forward. I had to ream out the hood opening in the front and the back to get the injectors to protruded! -Doug
I'm damn sure glad I fell in love with the 65 and 66 mustang's. I've restored 2 real cars. 65 and 66 mustang coupe cars are still affordable for the working man. 1960s chevy chevelle's and Camaro's a man has to be damn near rich these days to afford one.
This kit is a dog to make fit. Yours look OK. Only the spark plug wires are going to the wrong place. The spark plugs on a Ford SOHC are on the top of the valve covers.
