    I need to buy some of these. They are hard to find here but I want to set up tanks with only Rabbit snails, no other snails. This is a good video!

    Remember they do cross breed so keeping them all together will end up with a tank load of hybrids! If you do want to keep them breeding turn they do need to be in species only tank.

      There's more than one spieces in the lakes they come from tho?? I'm not saying your wrong (I don't know what's right or wrong, I'm currently trying to find that answer) but wouldn't the lakes be full pf hybrids after the thousands of years they have been around for???

      They will definitely cross breed....

      @@sulawesi-steve I would assume in an entire lake other than a small area they would look for their own. We put in tanks so not many too choose from. 😂😂

    MY GUY!
    I have a set up similar to yours. It's an 8.5 gallon short and long. Bare bottom, sponge filter air powered for a 40 gallon for best filtration, one long piece of wood. Tank is only 8 inches deep, so they actually go up to eat duckweed. High powered light to keep the back glass saturated in algae.
    I got 5 of these guys. Hoping I get both sexes. I have cameras set up to try and identify my females! Process of elimination should bring me to breeding pairs if I'm patient enough to find the footage!

      Love that! Best of luck identifying them! I’d personally just buy more and leave them to it! 😂

    I can never keep them a live long enough water is to soft. I did breed them once when I was adding calcium to the water but it's a ball ache over time.

      I’m quite lucky in that respect, my tap water is like liquid rock! I have to use RO for most of my tanks 😅

    Ok… I purchased two 5 gallon tanks to give my betas proper set ups. I bought onyx substrate and some live plants. Picked up two orange elephant snails and separated them. Here I am 6 weeks later and one of my tanks has 8+ babies in it 🫣 I was not trying to breed, must be a female who was already knocked up when I adopted her… how on earth do I manage this? How many more babies will I be seeing!!!!!

    Actually I might give them another go, using the RO waste water.

      Should be good as it’s mineral content will be even higher after making RO!

    Ohh so they can breed without sand ?

    • @rick2000105
      @rick2000105  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yer I used to use substrates but with the amount of tanks I’ve got, it’s easier without and they’re happy to breed regardless!

    Interesting tips and info, thanks for the video - I have a single yellow rabbit snail and after more than 2 years it’s suddenly started producing babies by itself! I just counted 12 babies but there must be more I couldn’t see as they’re tiny and there are many places to hide.

    I have a single rabbit snail for about 3 months. I moved it to a new tank a few weeks ago. Today I found what appears to be a baby. I mean, how does that happen?
