I think its possible, more drivers were lost, except the ones mentioned in the ultimate race, and maybe one or more were captured by the drones beforehand. I think Gelorm would want one of the bests, like Kadeem or Wylde, to be her number 2, so maybe not Harrison but Skeet from the Roadbeasts.
@@chinnymisc its not evidence, i havent got into it, but i think we wouldnt get a character that didnt have an appearance, even a small one, in world race and im guessing that Castillo would call his 2 partners in racing, Esmeralda and Skeet, in this Dr.Tesla call. I always found it SO PAINFULLY underwhelming that RD-L1 was given such an amazing amount of menacing buildup in parts 1 and 2 as being that typical boss before the boss type of adversary---only for him to just die very easily in the Metro realm due to a bridge overpass. It leaves me to think that he really was NOT a former human, just simply a lieutenant drone. However, I believe the most adaptable drones were mimicking sentient ai and human behavior because after all the drones know the track was built for human beings. And they indeed possess the ability to learn human behavior. Gelorum and her high ranking drones were all probably the most human-like of their drone species.

Also one more thing: do you think you can explain why early drones and their cars versions have dark green parts, later having lime though? If anything he’s simply either just a drone given more independence and intelligence to act as a “field commander”, maybe Gelorum is unique, maybe she only has the one body, so she sends LDR1 as a field commander, he’s simply just more independently minded, it’s better to have a single person leading then a bunch of individuals who can try to go their own way, especially with how expendable the drones are. Maybe he was created from copying a Human mind, but isn’t Human, so far every example of a Human-drone hybrid being Kadeem and Mark were simply augmented with drone parts into a cyborg.

So, Maybe? But I feel like if you got ripped in half as a Human/Robot hybrid, (as we see in the Swamp realm) you would be scrap right there. I feel like it would be next to impossible to Rebuild a Human/Robot hybrid because you know...the Human side. And we see Kadeem as a Drone later on and he OBVIOUSLY still has Human charecteristics such as a Full arm, Face, (Hair), and Voice. RD-L1 has NONE of these charecteristics. The only reason i can see this being true is by What you said. Transfering a human consciousness to a Drone body, which sounds easier in theory than in practice. Cool theory, but might be far fetched.
Follow up, so throught the Series, we see RD-L1 is VERY CLEARLY the best drones driver ((outside of Gelorum)and even then shes quesitonable because she was just using the accelechargers). The other Drones just sort of drive straight on and dont do any problem solving or critical thinking for themselves. They just sort of do what they are told. And while RD-L1 ALSO does what hes told alot, he completes these tasks in ways a robot probably wouldn't. So MAYBE he has a Human like brain or something aiding him. He drives MUCH better than other drones, so either he has a Human Consciousness, or Gelorum designs her Luitenants to just be better for some reason. Why not just send in a unit of RD-L1s into every realm instead of Just one and a bunch of Random Foot soldiers? Maybe cause she only has the one Human brain to spare. So I guess im kinda talking myself into this theory.
You should make a short on this detail I noticed: Mark Wylde is part drone at the end of the series with his arm. There’s a car that the drone drives next to Karma (the drone also steals this car during the cliffside realm) and this car is what Wylde builds into flathead fury, his second car I just think it’s a cool bit of foreshadowing
RD-L1 is "Racing Drone First Lieutenant" it's possible that his programming is similarly created by digitally cloning a human mind like Halo's Cortana
