Can I directly use individual 5 point Likert items, as independent variables in Multiple regression, as these items are formative in nature, not reflective, so I can't transform them to a single mean score. I have read that Likert items on 5 or more point scale can be treated as continuous variable...Further, my dependent variable has 4 items which are again measured on 5 point likert scale, but are reflective in nature, so i will transform them to a single mean value (to be taken as dependent variable) in multiple regression. Is that OK?
Thank you for the explanation. In this case, do we remove the two variables (anxiety and gender) from the model or keep them? I am confused on that point. I read in a textbook to report the original model with all the variables, then report the model without the variables with statistically non-significant coefficients. Isn't this essentially what a backward regression method does?
I have a data consist of many qualitative and one quantitative as my independent variable against the dependent of price. Can i use multiple linear regression?
