This episode made me cry my eyes out like wtf. I always liked All Might more, but Endeavor and Todoroki were such real and visceral character that I couldn't help but get emotional for their family and backstory, because it reminds me of real life events that are similar if not more tragic because not every story like this can end with a happy ending with everyone alive and together.
The idea behind Dabi having Rei's quirk is that he acquired it during his fight with Shoto. When he got back up he could somehow use Phosphor like Shoto only he used it to further magnify his own heat instead of cold. I would assume that was the moment when he unlocked Rei's quirk since it's the combination of Rei and Endeavor's quirks that creates Phosphor. And yes, that "Dad, look!" broke my heart. It immediately cuts back to Endeavor remembering Toya as a child begging for his attention. Something as simple as having his family really see him, to watch him as he watches them, to look his way at all; Dabi's felt so ignored and starved for his family's attention and approval that his only want was something so simple. The episode even opens with people evacuating and the authorities shouting "Don't look at Dabi!"
This anime is a masterpiece, and great job timing and editing Ben, I hope I'm not the first to give you credit for it, you guys do a great job together✨
Yeah, this is the hardest I’ve cried in a while. Beforehand, Shoto was called the “hero of the family,” and after this, yeah, he absolutely is. Not that he wasn’t before. And honestly, for as horrific of a person as Touya has become, I think it’s only right for him to be saved by the family and make sure he doesn’t game end himself. It was great timing too since Endeavor had just given up on Touya again. The emotions were complicated as heck this time around, but I’m hoping that Touya can finally find some level of peace. And that’s not even touching on All Might and Death Arms.
Remember, the reason Death Arms gave on why he isn't a hero is "I'm only human", that alone shows how toxic the society is towards heroes, they expect heroes to be something more, which lead to fanatics like Stain who crippled and killed 40 heroes just because they don't "think like heroes" or they filmed an ad or something
Something that I like is that people have mentioned that when people talk about feeling sad for Dabi, is that they’re mistaking feeling simpathy, when it really is pity. He could have been such a great person, such a great hero but because of his own trauma and need for approval, ended up not only as a murderer but almost a mass genocide bomb and in the end it amounted to him getting basically put down. And he will only be remembered as such by the rest of the world cause he himself only let himself amount to that
I don't get that mindset. I watch/read a series, not the fandom... nor does someone have to engage with it. If someone isn't that interested in a series in the first place, then I can see how that can reinforce not seeing it more, but if actually have some interest, don't think that should factor into it.
I was out of shows when I started getting sick of the self-fellating heropop culture BS But by then, it started making sense. If things can get as stupid as they have IRL, then I can stand to be a little more tolerant of the show jerking itself off with the hero worship. Glad I stuck around.
I've said this on every reaction I've watched up to now, but of all the tragedy stories in anime I've watched, this one has to be the single best delivered on all points. Everything starts with Toya idolising his father and wanting to be like him, his quirk hurting him and his parents not wanting to see their son hurt do what they think is right while making things worse, and having every other member of the family do the wrong thing at the exact wrong moment to push Toya to a worse point until he became this thing we see. It's both amazing writing and heartbreaking levels of devastation to see and I love it for that.
If you told me back when I started My hero that I would be crying over endeavour, actively supporting him in the FAMILY fued no less, and wanting the best for him, I woulda called you stupid and told you youve lost your marbles. Yet here I am. Endeavour has redeemed himself and more and I couldn't be happier.
Always remember, if there's one thing Endeavor is known for to superhuman degrees, it's his inability to ever give up. And Toya inherited that Determination Gene (TM) of his.
Finally!!!! But i hope you guys are feeling better now 💚 I think everyone agrees that the Todoroki storyline is the best written arc in MHA! I can watch a spinoff story of just the Todoroki family!
Huh, I actually didn't notice even Mina's sclera changed color too. You didn't mention her horns got straighter though so I do have one up on that one.
This episode I would agree is the best in the series and my second favorite is the moment Midoriya saved Kota from Muscle. When Deku was being over powered and he called out for his mom and all might in possibly his last moments, that broke me.
Hi, I'm currently watching your season 6 videos because I'm still catching up in the series. You keep mentioning Anna's catch-up videos that she recorded and saying we will be seeing Anna's reactions to certain episodes. I can't find them on the channel. My Patreon membership ran out a few days ago so I can't check there, and I didn't look at your My Hero stuff until today because I hadn't caught up to season 6, where I thought your My Hero reactions started, yet. More than anything I would LOVE to watch Anna's reactions to episodes from earlier series of My Hero. Are they available anywhere, or coming soon to this channel? I will be back to Patreon one day, I just had to cut a lot of expenses for unexpected medical emergencies, so I will be able to see them there at some point if they're available. Can you tell me where I can watch the Anna's Catch-up Arc, or whatever you chose to call it, please?
Spoilers Crazy how they predicted the Deku ending. And to be honest that just goes to show that the ending there was one of, if not, the most natural conclusion to all of this.
It's the way that Endeavor only ever looked at Toya as an extension of himself and his dreams back then, and because he was not the new and improved Endeavor, he looked away from him, and if he had instead looked a little closer, he might've seen Toya's own potential, his own individuality, his own potential to be someone more amazing than he could ever imagine. The solution to Toya's self-destructive quirk was right there under the surface, but left unnurtured, it did not have the chance to grow. If Endeavor would've worked creatively with Toya back then, to help him discover his limits, nuances, and work-arounds in a safe environment, they could've found a way to pull out that ice and use it to protect Toya from himself, and allow him to live as he always wanted to. But alas, his ice remained just out of reach until he had already burned himself away out of his lack of a sense of purpose.....such a beautiful, heartbreaking tragedy. The Todoroki family touches my soul in such a unique and sorrowful way. There's nothing else like it in the world.

I’m like, 90% that one of the reasons Toya became a villain was so people would notice him
The Todoroki Family Plotline is hands down the best story in the series! What an incredible episode.
This anime is a masterpiece, and great job timing and editing Ben, I hope I'm not the first to give you credit for it, you guys do a great job together✨
There are 21 episodes this season. So only 2 more. Then next season will be about 10-12 to finish the arc and the series.
8 to 10 eps most likely unless they want expand ending more they could make movie

As someone who's read the manga up to it's finish, you definitely will cry more if not every episode leading up to it's conclusion!😭 🤧
The Todoroki family is a horrid mess but their arc is a beauty to watch
I frickin' knew Yutapon would bust out the cubes for Iida this episode lmao
Is amzin episode❤
I was an emotional mess this episode. Thank you Studio Bones for adapting these chapters so beautifully.

I love how human the villains are in this show. Specially considering the current trend of "force of nature" type of enemies in shonen.

Todoroki family sadness. Shoto’s and Ida’s Plus Ultra moment. I’m so excited for All Might vs All For One Round 3.
Greatest family storyline in an anime I've ever seen
Endeavor's VA absolutely killed it
Always remember, if there's one thing Endeavor is known for to superhuman degrees, it's his inability to ever give up. And Toya inherited that Determination Gene (TM) of his.
Shoto is so practical like his pa. He decides from Either few dead from dabi blast or a whole country if afo reaches tomura and he was choosing afo
The amount of callbacks in this episode is legit hard to track. A masterpiece episode and a masterpiece of a character arc
Studio Bones been doing a great job am glad experiencing peak anime
This episode was super epic and heartbreaking. Endeavor's apologies 🥹
Soon All Might's turn
I agree with you l love dabi and his family sotry am happy Endeavor apologies to his family here 😢❤

This episode wrecked me and the fact that Shoto is my favorite and I like the whole Todoroki plot line 😢
No you're right episode 20 and 21 and that's it
Rest in peace All Might, the mightiest of all us. Maybe Jojo’s Bizzare could help the sorrow away…

Bro al endeavor did for nothing, because toya had the quirk of ice…
But it only manifested that quirk because he was on the verge of death.
