    JazakAllah brother, this question has been bothering me a lot for some time as usually its observed that in silent or Sunnah prayers many people recite so quickly that their two rakah are done in no time while if one is following minimum of Tajweed or proper makharij, its not possible or very very difficult. Thanks again for the proper guidance. May Allah keep rewarding you for this sadaqa.

    Very valuable video Masha Allah. I find if I whisper, people get irritated. If I’m quieter, I find I cannot hit the makharij properly. For example, if I follow the first opinion, I find the letters of whistling (al safeer) lose their characteristic. So my recitation is a combination of both. It is movement of the lips and tongue where possible. But for certain letters the sound is more audible. For example you cannot say س without the sss sound but you can say ب without any sound whilst moving the lips. So I find applying both techniques according to al makhaarij al huroof works best for me. Alhamdulillah.

      @@AbdullahMikalRodriguezI'm talking about articulating while inhaling through the mouth. Obviously we normally recite while exhaling. Imagine reciting al-faatihah in one breath, first exhaling and then inhaling while still articulating. Another similar example would be saying tasbeeh 33 times without pausing but articulating sometimes while exhaling, sometimes inhaling.

    We had a discussion lastly :
    When praying after Imam do you have to do silent recitation?
    There was one of us that was greatly disturbed in concentration hearing the sound of lips and tongue.
    I mean silent prayer where you have an Imam.
    This lecture is about a single person praying as I understand.
    Please advise.

      agree, I am one of such person. I'm easily distracted and hearing someone beside me reciting is really annoying and take away my focus on my own prayer. this is why I take the first option and try to make no sound because I take not disturbing other as a higher priority.

      What I found is that Jahr/Sirr (Loud/Silent) is Mustahab (preferred) and not a Rukn (pillar) or a Wajib (duty) which means that the prayer is correct although if it did not follow these guidelines. but of course, we'll be rewarded for following the Sunnah. so if you pray as you said then it's correct Inshallah, you don't have to repray what you have prayed like that before. but it's Makruh (detested) It's better to pray the sllent silent and the loud sound.

    • @Arabic101
      @Arabic101  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Asslamo alikom brother,
      All prayers can be prayed loudly or silently if you are alone or with others.. It would be a valid prayer, but it would be against the sunnah.
      The sunnah is known: silent in Zuhr and Asr, and the 3rd of maghrib and 3rd and 4th in Isaa, the rest is loud .. That is the sunnah, so it is better to follow it.

    Thank you brother. I've been thinking about this recently.
    I've been taught to whisper in prayer, but i wasn't told anything about proper breathing in it.
    Until now I've been reciting on the exhale and on the inhale and personally I can vocalise and hear every letter clearly, but I'm wondering if that is permissable or not.
    I've tried switching to only reciting on the exhale, but I run out of air so much quicker when whispering than when I'm reciting aloud so I have to make way more stops and it's distracting.
    Does anyone know something regarding this?

    Which ones are the silent prayers? And for the non-silent prayers, how loud do you have to be + does that volume apply to everything said in the prayer?

    • @Arabic101
      @Arabic101  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Asslamo alikom,
      Silent prayers:
      (1) Az-Zuhr
      (2) Al-Asr
      (3) Last rak'ah in Maghrib
      (4) Rak'ah 3 & 4 in Ishaa'
      The rest is loud.
      Loud = You recite loudly that people around you or praying behind you can hear you. This applies to everything you say in prayer except for tasbeeh, which is what you say in ruku and sujud.
      If you are leading silent prayer, you have to say takbeer and tasleem outloud so that those behind you can know when to move to the next stage in prayer.
      If you have other questions, ask them through the website arabic101.org

    Jazaakumullah khairan. I have a little problem when reading Al-fatihah by using sirr (whisper) as I always have difficulty in concentrating. I sometimes repeat the recitation over and over (perhaps it's because of was-was). I end up often read with jahriyah (rather loud voice) because I have a hard time in reading with sirriyah. anybody tell me how I deal with this.. and please pray for me :'

      @@Servant-of-Allah51 To be more exact they are Dhuاr and Asr and the third rakaat of Maghrib and the third + fourth rakaat of Isha. or you can remember them in this way: Every Rakaat after the first Tashahhud is silent. so, 11/17 Rakaat in the day are Silent.

    Is it valid to recite the quran with the opinion 2 (or even opinion 1 for that matter) of the sirr recitation outside of salah? Does it carry the same reward/validity as jahr recitation?

    Salam alykom sir...
    One day i was at mosque and the imam was giving some tafseer he Said that sometimes (fajr Maghreb and Isha ) you can recite loud - people around you will be able to hear - but when you are praying lonely so... How about that can we recite loud in prayer if yes tgen how is the quality of that?

      Wa alikom asslam brother,
      Prayer alone or with others should be the same in terms of loudness or silence. If you decided to do it otherwise, that is also fine, and the prayer is valid in shaa Allah, but it would be different from the sunnah.

    But I could still hear you in the explanation of the view of imam malik regarding silent recitation. How is that ‘no voice’? What if there is absolutely no sound & only movement? Wouldn’t that be his view?

      Wa alikom asslam wa rahatullahi wa barakatuh,
      Yes, his view is only the movement of your tongue and lips, with no sound. That is the minimum.

    If I'm praying alone, a jahr prayer like maghrib and do it in silent recitation, is the prayer valid it invalid?

    • @Arabic101
      @Arabic101  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, brother .. It is valid, in shaa Allah. In fact it is valid to pray any prayer with jahr or silently, with and without others.
      But that would be against the sunnah, It is valid yes, but that is not the best way to go.
      Sunnah is: fajr + 1, 2 of maghrib + 1,2 Ishaa are jahr .. the rest is silently.
