Thanks. I was at the show and I want to say that I think Greg was great. The sound was so muddy that one couldn't make out the vocals or much of the individual instrumentations. Your sound was much cleaner. I saw Greg a few weeks earlier at "Shank" where he and the band were fantastic. A small venue where they interacted with and worked off the audience. It's a shame, though. GK was at Shank on a Friday night for $15.00 and barely 60% of the place was filled. Here, Joe B. sells out at $100.00 per seat (plus all the add-ons) on a Wednesday. C'mon, Milwaukee. Support your local musicians. GK is one of the greatest living electric guitarists ... take advantage of every opportunity to see him.
+Jimmy B That's a bummer, indeed! And the Shank Hall is really cool, too. I saw Junior Brown there a few years ago and was sitting less than 10 feet away from him. Greg Koch at Shank Hall must have been awesome!
+chainlightning58 We may have been sitting next to each other. My guitar teacher turned me on to Jr. Brown and suggested going to the show. I was dead center in the second row of tables. As I recall, a Rockabilly band from Madison opened and were a little over-powered for the space. Radio and television personality, Sandi Maxx, joined us ... made for some quality conversation about music.Peace.
i I was at this show last night and it was one of the if not the best show I have ever seen. Amazing performer and musician. Can't wait to see him again!!
I didn't turn anything into anything, jackass. I made an observation. Take a deep breath and get over yourself. As for music "not being a competition" as your jackass buddy below opined, certainly many kinds of music are not and can not become a competition. Two oboe players in the symphony are not going to try to out-riff each other. But a basic staple of the blues, since the blues started, is two players trading off riffs and trying to out-do each other. It's not a "pissing contest", it's part of the style. Jazz musicians trading off solos, building on what the guy before them played- playing it a little faster and with more variation. Have you ever seen or heard of any of the iterations of G3 or any of those jerking-off riff fests? Satriani, Vai et al. All those guys do all night is try to out-riff each other. Get a clue.
A rockin good jam! Mr Wynans works his usual magic and the band is a god dam freight with a full head of steam and everyone shovelling coal . Joe and Greg pair up really well and Joe seems to enjoy sparring with Greg. Sounded like a helluva lot fun onstage.
I met Greg years ago on Catalina Island in the fender Blues Festival really nice guy incredibly gifted I saw I'm sitting with some folks there and he pretty much destroyed them and he's holding his own with Joe and I imagine that's pretty hard to do great player and a nice guy that doesn't seem to take himself too seriously
I guess Greg never made it really big because most people don't get what he's doing on the guitar, and how genius that is. Joe's approach is easier to grasp, but killer, nonetheless.
Somebody needs to inform the drummer of how to dial it down when somebody is taking a solo. He's sucking up all the oxygen in the room with that snare.
We all like different players, but to me Joe's stuff fits the songs better. His songs are well crafted and his singing is getting stronger. Both brilliant , but I'll pick Joe his leads breathe. Just one guys thoughts.
That looks like the '57 Bandmaster reissue GK is using there. Every video (there aren't many) I've seen of him playing that amp makes it seem like that amp was just made for him. I keep wondering why he doesn't play it full-time.
He told you, huh? Look to the right (our right) of Koch and you'll see a Bassman sitting by some other amps. Now look at the amp directly behind Koch, the one he's using. It obviously isn't tall enough to be a Bassman. And why couldn't GK be using his own 59LP? It's not like he doesn't have enough of them.
Gregg brain is somewhere that others just can't reach. Hands down he is a better player and more versatile than Joe. He's s prodigy of Chet Atkins. The only other guy that can say that currently is Tommy Emanuel .
I agree. Gregg is like a Danny Gatton in that his mastery is a direct extension of his personality. I have not heard many that can or could do that. It's not only about tone, speed, licks, or even foundational understanding of style and form. It's that rare quality that players like Gregg, Tommy Emmanuel , Chet, Danny Gatton, and Jeff Beck are able to make their instrument , at any given moment, an accurate mirror of their personality....incredible.
When Greg played his solo was the engineer sleeping? bring up the volume. It's not a pissing contest, both guitarists should be at equal volume. I'm pretty damn sure JB wanted Greg's guitar up, everyone does.
there is something about Joe Bonamassa, that I don't get or like..maybe it's because he looks more like a businesman than a stage performer ( maybe it's cause always the dark sun-glasses?) …but anyway carry-on, get paid.
nice, buttttt the over all sound was awful there Mr K ya cant find something nicer than dad jeans and a worn out zipper polo? take joe for example I know it's tough when your a big guy I am 6''3" and 250 lbs nicer clothes tend to run a small bit I manage
Bonamassa makes a good sidekick.
I know I'm kinda randomly asking but do anyone know a good website to stream newly released series online?
Definitely, I have been watching on flixportal for since march myself :)
thank you, I went there and it seems like they got a lot of movies there :) Appreciate it !
The Mansquantch supersedes all.
Koch is SO classy. He steps out of the way when others solo and he always acknowledges their talents.
Thanks. I was at the show and I want to say that I think Greg was great. The sound was so muddy that one couldn't make out the vocals or much of the individual instrumentations. Your sound was much cleaner.

It's been five years...and both of these guys are better now than they were then.
I can feel joe really bringing it with Greg on stage.....Joe has alot of respect for Greg!!!
Greg's too cool. Just standing back there like a musical sasquatch, blowing off killer licks and solid grooves. Awesome. :-)
Just simply Awesome ... EVERYBODY!
Greg Koch makes me smile when he plays :-)
8:48 Dear Joe Bonamassa: You just got schooled. And Greg was being restrained and polite, being a guest on your stage and all.
Yep. Hopefully someday they'll figure it out, that music isn't a competition. Btw, you gotta love that B3, especially at the end.
You are so right..only fool idiots can turn a great performance by two exceptional guitar players into a pissing contest...

GREG KOCH THE BESTTTTT LOVE HIMM!!!!
Greg koch #1 the best of the best
A rockin good jam! Mr Wynans works his usual magic and the band is a god dam freight with a full head of steam and everyone shovelling coal . Joe and Greg pair up really well and Joe seems to enjoy sparring with Greg. Sounded like a helluva lot fun onstage.
Legend behind the B3
Thought I was listening to 'Live At Budokan' there for a sec...
Greg is a monster! No literally a monster. What is he....12 feet tall? Guitars look like tiny lapel pins in his hands!
Greg is 6'7
I met Greg years ago on Catalina Island in the fender Blues Festival really nice guy incredibly gifted I saw I'm sitting with some folks there and he pretty much destroyed them and he's holding his own with Joe and I imagine that's pretty hard to do great player and a nice guy that doesn't seem to take himself too seriously
That's nice they traded guitars here. Hahaha
Greg on the lessy and Joe on the telly
both are great but i love Greg!
Cool Greg!
I guess Greg never made it really big because most people don't get what he's doing on the guitar, and how genius that is. Joe's approach is easier to grasp, but killer, nonetheless.
If any guitarist deserved to make it big, I think it's Greg. Joe Walsh said the internet "ate the music business".
Greg schooled Joe at the end. Wow!!
Greg straight kills it!

No mate, that´s the real deadl Greg is using Bonamassa´s original 59 LP.
Because its been told and there are videos of Joe speaking about that les Paul, GK would be using for pleasure only
Anyway it is my bad. I need yo read carefuly. I was thinking in the guitar not the amp haha
Yeah, okay. I don't know who's guitar it is and don't care. But I do think that's probably a tweed Bandmaster GK is using. Either that or a Twin.
Tal Bergman like a steamroller on those drums.

Joe is a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Greg is a banana split.
I thought you were not allowed to wear sunglasses in school.

Greg's guitar up, everyone does.
Greg makes every guitar look small lol
Only thing missing from Joe's first name is the K.
Joe is terrific, but Greg Koch is a bad, bad man.
I think Joe usually owns the guys he has sit in but Greg is a viking and vikings don't go down easily.
bonamassa sounds like he has a frog in his throat when he sings
needs more cowbell
if max headroom could play guitar
there is something about Joe Bonamassa, that I don't get or like..maybe it's because he looks more like a businesman than a stage performer ( maybe it's cause always the dark sun-glasses?) …but anyway carry-on, get paid.
agreed, beside the guitar playing and musicality, there really is something dissonant about him lol.
BLAST ZONE 2015 yeah...it's called cookie cutter blues. It's all about the money machine
Probably the most egotesticle (yes i spelled it right) stage set up i've ever seen to ask a guest on that is going to give you guitar lessons.
Great players. Just boring.
nice, buttttt the over all sound was awful there Mr K ya cant find something nicer than dad jeans and a worn out zipper polo? take joe for example I know it's tough when your a big guy I am 6''3" and 250 lbs nicer clothes tend to run a small bit I manage
