    I have quite a dark skin tone and find this to be a dream to use. I normally use the Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen just because it works so well with oily skin and is undetectable. I bought three of the Round Lab sunscreens from Olive Young, another retailer that is selling the up to date product. I find that there is no white cast when applied and rubbed in thoroughly. I don't see myself discontinuing use of this one!

    Im almost done with the tube of this one. I find it too heavy on my oily skin in humid weather; almost as heavy as the Pether Thomas Roth Water Drench Spf 45. But its indeed beautiful, and perfect for normal to dry skin. I will finish it on my neck and chest because thats my only gripe, it otherwise didnt cause any reactions -except some very mild pore congestion-, and its a lovely moisturizing texture.

    When you are using such a small amount on your hand it never reflects it’s true form as we won’t be applying such a small amount. Would be far more realistic to apply the amount you would to one cheek as the bank of our hands are comparable in size.....

    Hi Sarah this might be one for me to try, as those filters seem to be ok for me. The benzone style filters seem to be causing me the biggest issue tbh. I tried the simple spf 30 with the orange cap - it contains zinc and octinoxate (I live in Scotland and am never at the beach) - not the best cosmetic spf, but no irritation and only the normal dryness from zinc. I wanted to try something quite simplistic and it was only £3 - I'll use it up in the house. I have a full size of the PC calm spf30 normal/dry on order and won a giveaway for the skinceuticals spf50 mineral spf (also on route, but from the US). The skinceuticals is apparently good for dry skin, so I'll let you know when it arrives. My skin was so unhappy trying the different spf's, so i'm trying not to aggravate it just now with new products (rosacea and eczema). I've only just got it healed up enough to resume my retinoid usage and am tired of sore fiery red skin from product irritation. The canmake is fine on my neck/chest (not on the face) and the altruist face fluid is fine on hands/body (definately not on the face - the worst product reaction I've had for a long time). The PC calm is working well over the calm moisturiser and other hydrating serums etc, so I'm going to stick with that through the Spring. I do appreciate all the spf testing you have been doing and will put this one on my list to try. Best wishes.

      I finally had a chance to test out the Alruist formula and it is interesting how my skin handled it. The first few times I used it was fine- no issues. The last time I used it my skin was red at the end of the day- and not from the sun. I think it sensitized my skin a little because when I started my evening routine my skin was stinging a bit. By the next day it was okay. It must be from one of the filters- going to have to do more digging to find out which one it might be. Although it did do a great job protecting my skin from UV rays. The Round Lab was much more gentle- and works so nicely over moisturizer- something I don't mind using every day, which is so nice!

    Bought this one because I saw it in your recs. I expected a natural to natural- matte finish, you know, as if I wasn't wearing anything; but I felt the need to lay down a matte primer after 15 minutes before applying liquid foundation on top, even though I didnt put moisturizer underneath. I live somewhere hot & humid and have an oily skin type. That said the transfer/film/shine isnt as bad as say with the Cerave Sheer Tint spf 30. I have a tan skintone & I like it on its own as a first impression. No heavy white cast, wouldn't mind walking bare faced with it. My Huda foundation looked like concrete on top though. The combo felt and looked very heavy. Had to wash my face and start over after an hour or two, and by then i had what looked like congestion on my chin and cheeks (pores filled with visible gunk). The bottle is actually small too, I hate when brands give less than 2 ounces of sunscreen.
    I need to try it again with powder foundation and with a light coverage foundation (Sol Face & Body). If I remember ill update for folks with oily, acne prone skin that live in humid places.

    • @NOBSBeauty

      Oh no- so sad to hear it didn't work out well for you. 🙁 Sometimes you just don't know until you try it out. Finding a good sunscreen is such a challenge. Are there other ones you've had better luck with? Humidity can make finding a good sunscreen even more difficult. Might be worth trying the La Roche Posay Shaka, if you haven't already, it seems to be friendly for humid and hot environments.

    I have never tried the previous version of RoundLab Birch Juice Sunscreen SPF 50 PA++++ but was amazed when it passed the independent test conducted by Korea Institute of Dermatological Sciences. The test showed that it has SPF 55.0+-8.5 with UVA (PFA) protection of 19.80+-3.30 confirming its SPF 50 PA++++ status and claim.
    My experience as user:
    1. It’s lightweight but feels substantial on skin. I can apply the recommended amount of sunscreen without it pilling or feeling to heavy. No sunscreen is perfect, but this is GOOD compared to most!
    2. It has whitecast when applied but sets to a natural, slightly ‘tone up’ dewy finish. I always set it with loose powder or any powder of my choice. I don’t wear foundation so I don’t know how it would play with foundation.
    3. I use it on its own when I am not doing outdoor activities.I top it up with a stronger sunscreen like Anessa Perfect UV if I am going be outdoor for a longer period of time.
    4. It never stings and or burn my eyes. That is the beauty of the more modern UVA/UVB filters. Most western and Japanese companies have attachment with the tried-and-true classic UVA/UVB organic filters (octocrylene, octinoxate, homosalate, avobenzone, etc). They are not bad but they sting and burn my eyes to no end making wearing sunscreen an unpleasant responsibility, especially when I sweat or accidentally rub the sunscreen into my eyes.
    Here is the full Ingredients list | Water, Dibutyl Adipate, Propanediol, Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexy! Benzoate (Uvinul A Plus), Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Ethyhexyl Triazone (Uvinul T 150), Niacinamide, Methylene Bis-Benzotriazolyl Tetramethylbutylphenol (Tinosorb M), Coco-Caprylate/Caprate, Caprylyl Methicone, Diethylhexyl Butamido Triazone (lscotrizinol), Glycerin, 1,2-Hexanediol, Butylene Glycol, Betula Platyphylla Japonica Juice (1,425ppm), Sodum Hyaluronate, Hyaluronic Acid, Glyceryl Glucoside, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Allantoin, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Artermisia Annua Extract, Pinus Sylvestris Leaf Oil, Anthemis Nobilis Flower Oil, Acrylates/C10- 30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Sodium Stearoyl Glutamate, Polyacrylate Crosspolymer-6, Ethylhexylglycerin, Ascorbic Acid, Adenosine, Pentylene Glycol, Behenyl Alcohol, Poly C10- 30 Akył Acrylate, Polyglycery-3Methylglucose Distearate, Decyl Glucoside, Tromethamine, Xanthan Gum, t-Butył Alcohol, Tocopherol, Carbomer

      I was happy that there was a test done on the new Round Lab because it is so good I do have to wonder- but they did add many more filters to the new formula. It is a nice day to day sunscreen but I agree with you- when I;m going to be outside all day I top it off with another sunscreen- usually Bioderma or Anessa.

      Do you have the feeling this is hydrating? Or drying?

    • @inouerinn
      @inouerinn 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@olley2642 it has been a few weeks of using this SPF.
      I forgot to mention that I have oily to very oily skin not prone to breakout.
      I don't use lots of products in the morning. I rinse my face, spray my face with thermal spring water, apply my vitamin c serum, wait till it soaks in & apply SPF.
      Dibutyl adipate is an emollient ingredient. It's listed as 2nd ingredient, so this sunscreen is quite emollient. I am not sure if that translate to "hydrating". I personally believe hydrating is like a shot of water & emollient is like a shot of oil.
      For my oily skin & living in warm & humid climate, I can conclude that this sunscreen is too emollient/oily/heavy for me.
      I apply A LOT of sunscreen. This takes at least 20 minutes for it to set & some areas on my face never truly sets.
      I already gave up on putting this on my face so i use it on my neck, chest, hands and arms. Even on those normal skin areas, it still feels substantially heavy. Definitely not a repurchase for me. I'll stick to my Japanese sunscreens (Anessa, Kose, Sunplay, Biore, etc). They have proper R&D, manufacturing facility and testing. I'm partial to Japanese sunscreens anyway.

    • @NOBSBeauty
      @NOBSBeauty  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It is pretty difficult to reapply most sunscreens when wearing Makeup. There are a very select few that work okay over foundation and powder. The la Roche Posay Shaka is one. Generally what i tend to rely on for days I'm wearing makeup is: spray sunscreens- many of them mist lightly over makeup and almost work as a setting spray. The Kate Sommerville brand has a good one in a huge bottle. Supergoop also has one that's okay, but has some fragrance in it. Another option is the sunscreen powders. I would never rely on those alone, but for reapplication during the day they are pretty handy. Those are the best options for days you have makeup on. I'll have to research more to see which sunscreens work the best over makeup and do a video on them.

      @@NOBSBeauty I have the Avene Triasorb sunscreen, they say it protects from blue light, I haven't tried it, from what I heard it;s shiny, greasy, and heavy. It's a body sunscreen designed for outdoor use and swimming. Sadly Avene said they will stop using alcohol and silicones 😭😭😭 This is bad news especially for sunscreens, I like alcohol in sunscreens, I am also a big fan of silicones. Avene is only doing this to cater to the alcohol fear mongering

    do you think it goes well with retinol? I read in the ingredients that it contains niacinamide

      Do you use your retinol is your daytime routine? I'm thinking if you do I might go with the Round Lab Dokdo Sunscreen instead of this one, it is a bit more on the hydrating side.

    Does anyone know why the FDA is such a crabby butt about the chemical sunscreen chemicals? I would love to know what is concerning them. It just seems so crazy that most other countries don’t have this issue.

      It has something to do with studies on certain filters that showed they might be absorbed into the blood stream. Although I think skin cancer is a huge issue that we know exists as opposed to some theories on chemical filters...

      There would be the manufacturing date on the tube, at the top where it's pinched together (if it makes sense lol). From what I gather, if it's made in 2021 it's the new version. Sorry if this comes late 😅 you've probably finished the tube by now, but I've just now come across the video!

      This is not waterproof, if you need something water resistant I would recommend checking out the Anessa brand- they have some really great sunscreens that last through water and sweat!

      This one is chemical, five filters- does a really nice job without being too hydrating, greasy, and no whitecast!
