  • Linebreeding happens because people are trying to reinforce a particular trait that they think will win in the show ring. James explains what inbreeding is and what the dangers are. Please make sure your dog is not bred to a closely related mate!

    Breeding is a lot more complicated than people think. Thanks for clarifying this point to us. And explaining the facts 🙏

      Especially breeding purebreds. Because you have to look for at the pedigree to make sure that dog has no inbreeding in line.

    Great information !
    I would like to make a point that all pure bred dogs have different amounts of inbreeding COI rates as a base line .
    A breed that has a large amount of genetic diversity is different from a breed with a very small gene puddle . The rates of interbreeding in regards to the negative effects can differ greatly according to these rates.

    Inbreeding should be done by someone who understands genetics. If you are a breeder you cannot produce extreme quality unless you inbreed, but the trick is to cull every offspring that don't make the cut.

    Hello I had an important question I bought a blue merle boy he has not been DNA chick but my question is is it ever possible do ever have a dog that carries two copies of cocoa with no red eye glow has it ever happened or is it even possible that's all I want to know, because he is kind of strange this one sometimes his eyes glow red on the side and turn back to Blue and also he is a blue merle like I said but he is starting to develop gold patches in his paws not too big but still about the size of an eraser of a pencil but have you ever seen it happen is it even possible? The no red eye glow without both copies of cocoa or chocolate

    We use line breeding and crosses with in a line for are working terriers. Combinations of 3/4 - 1/4's , 50/50's and 1/4 - 3/4's. Traits we look for Size build temperament, location ability.

    • @LittleImpaler
      @LittleImpaler 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Why would you do that? That's why inbreeding is bad. Keeping a trait forsaken the dog's health. Breeders need to breed for function rather than looks.

    • @LittleImpaler
      @LittleImpaler 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@Hartls1990 What does having a bigger yard have to do with anything? Breeding for good sound temperament. You find a dog with the qualities you like. This could take a while. I am not talking about just breeding any dog with another dog. Which I said by careful section. For example. If I want a dog with low prey drive, low engery, you don't breed a dog with high engery. You breed for qualities you like.

    You wouldn’t never worry about the male you never breed up stream back to the mother always down stream from father to daughter and only 1/4 of the pups would have he gotten the bad gene line breeding is different then Inbreeding I have had dogs that were pure huneybunch in their 6/7 generations and not a single genetic defect but I never went son to mother always father daughter grand daughter uncle great uncle to niece

    I've had two accidental inbred litters. First one was fine, except for kinked tails. This was Boxers. Second one was one stillborn puppy and one born with it's intestines outside its body. I would never do it again. Now, linebreeding is sonetimes okay. Would i do it? No. I no longer breed dogs that share any relatives in a three generation pedigree. Five generations, maybe, if there is only one crossover 😉 seven generations out, I don't care 😭

    Frenchy breeder speaking on genetics or the sins of line breeding ???? WTH?
    Frenchie’s are the one of the most genetic joke in canines.
    Sins in dog breeding are most of the time bad selection. Frenchie’s have been selected on unhealthy mutations and complete cosmetic nonsense .
    In nature inbreeding, linebreeding and outcrossed are selected by superior function selection pressure
    This is the key to healthy dogs, selecting on cosmetic whim and deforming mutations is the recipe for genetic distribution
    All breeds are inbred to some extent. The longer they go without a true outcross the more inbred they become. Inbreeding alone is not the greatest sin, selection on faulty weak breeding dogs is the huge problem
    It goes way off track from the example of Mother Nature who inbreeds, linebreed and outcrossed , but selects on the most functional individuals
