Unfortunately after a thorough assessment and the truck literally snapping in half I decided to part it out, all the parts went to good homes and where used to restore other trucks.

where in BC do you live? I have a 81 diesel and just got it and love it.
your video on the timing belt is great to see as I think that i should be switiching it ASAP as Im to understand other than that the 2.2 NA L deisel is unstoppable ... Let me know if there is anything I should be looking for in terms of issues ect hop to keep in on the road for a long time 40 MPG baby ! as a BC boy we gotta get all we can. curious about the electrical pump you used.

I'm in the north Okanogan, only tips I have really is check you intake hose from the manifold to the air filter for cracks I have never seen one that isn't cracked, if you need a new one you're out of luck but you can pick up a roll of black self adhesive silicone tape thoroughly clean the rubber hose and then tightly wrap with the silicone tape, mine's been like that for years now. Clean and oil your frame yearly and if you can don't drive it in the winter it'll disintegrate twice as fast. A must do is replace your upper radiator hose, they get hard over time and the vibrations will cause the brass that holds the top radiator hose piece to crack and leak no new radiators are available outside of Australia and they cost upwards of $500. You should also do a valve adjustment intake is 0.25mm exhaust is 0.36mm, head gaskets are unobtainium here in North America anyways. You're going to want a parts truck, 22r engine uses a completely different transmission unfortunately so a parts truck is an absolute must if you ever think you might need a transmission or related parts. If you see parts I can't stress enough buy them even if you don't need them, they have great resale value within the Toyota diesel community and there's fewer by the minute. The electric pump was installed by the previous owner of the pickup truck there was an issue with the injector pump that would cause it to have hard starts, I had the pump redone by a place in Vernon BC it cost me just about $900 after that I just left the pump there because it makes bleeding the system easier if ever needed, I don't really want to try and use the hand primer because I guarantee it'll leak after. RockAuto is a pretty good source for parts, I haven't had any luck with Gilbert's or Lordco for a single piece other than oil filters they don't even have air filters it's a joke.

@@Kowyn Ehh thanks for the reply, the rear of the frame has been cut off and replaced. in addition I replaced the booth with a Ebay Thailand boot first thing, I had to cut 1.5 inches off it but it works V well.
I live in vancouver so its just rain no salt but i have a frame swapped tacoma for winter (check my video) so far so good. worst case if I have a big failure I may TDI swap it. as far as a parts truck ill be OK there is lots of support for the RN30 and the powertrain is rumored to never die. if it comes to it ill spend what i have to in order to keep it going cause that 41 MPG cant be beat

I just bought a 79 Toyota pickup that has a toggle switch to the left of the cigarette lighter. The switch doesn't seem to do anything and I haven't had the time to follow wires yet. Any ideas what it might be for? I have a working hazards switch on the column, so it's not that.

Already parted out the blue 79 as the frame was far beyond saving but saved the cab. I won't ever part with the brown one he's saved me a fortune on fuel costs.
