The keyboard player is absolutely murdering it.... Stevie must have thought he died and went to heaven having him in his band...what a great player ....WOW...
Next: SRV, "Tin Pan Alley", live with Johnny Copeland. The grittiest blues you will ever hear, performed by two artists showing each other much respect, but at the same time, neither holding anything back. And you get to hear Stevie singing with real feeling. What more do you want?! :)
This. Tin Pan Alley, with Johnny Copeland is a MUST. You want some blues that you'd hear behind the liquor store from some grizzled old guy with a bottle of the good stuff inside a paper bag, that's the one to hear!
I love how Stevie smiles, grabs a new guitar pick, gives it a kiss, then goes into another insane solo. I’m so glad that he got cleaned up and was high on life and enjoying sobriety. RIP SRV!
The song was written by Buddy Guy, one of SRV's guitar heroes. Buddy inspired everyone from Clapton to Peter Green to Stevie Ray. He's still touring at the age of 86!
I saw an interview with Chris Layton (drummer for SRV) where he said that most performers have stage clothes and everyday clothes. SRV dressed the same way all the time.
You want to hear him sing? Again, at this Austin TX performance you'd love 1) Crossfire, 2) Tightrope, and 3) Couldn't Stand the Weather ( the second guitar solo on that one is mind blowing).
You’ve commented about the audience…When seeing Stevie live, you are literally paralyzed-hypnotized…I just stared, captivated and scared if I blinked, I’de miss something. One thing I remember the most is his hands losing all color, turning completely grey from the lack of circulation. No matter how many times I see these videos…I cry.
This was after he got clean and sober. I love these later performances much more than the El Mocambo gig that people rave about. In his biography, "Texas Flood," they say SRV didn't think he could sing, and usually closed his eyes when he did.
13:20 It's impressive how he plays the lick and release the face at the same time. His body is in total and complete synch with the guitar and the song.
The grown up version of a fav nursery rhyme. Let’s just say when the babies are down, mama and daddy can rock out! Hands down to Reese too, he is to the keys as to what SRV with the guitar!!!
I love hearing Stevie and watching him but my oh my he's exhausting! I get worn out and HE is doing all the work. Crazy right? I wish I could remember the place for link where he broke a sting mid play and his back-up came and hooked him up like nothing happened and he just kept playing, so smooooooth!
The absolute most emotion that I’ve seen SRV display is in his performance of “leave my girl alone” live at Austin city limits 1989. Not only does his guitar evoke such attitude, but his vocals do just as much. It’s a must watch
Jon Lord was the great organ/keyboardist for Deep Purple. r I p, Reese Wynans was the keyboardist in this video for Double Trouble, he is currently playing with Joe Bonamassa 🔥
George Duke, who played the keys for Frank Zappa, he was the best I’ve ever seen, go check out ‘Inca Roads’ to see him in action. …his voice was awesome too, but then everyone who played with Frank was a maestro of his or her instrument, Ruth Underwood comes to mind.
The thing I love about, man, is that amongst all the people I've watched on TH-cam react to music videos, you seem to really respond from gut level. Real-man stuff, not critical analysis or formal musical breakdown. Just real-guy reaction. Love that about you. Because that's where the rest of us are.
SRV is the original. There's not a bad performance in his collection. GOAT BY FAR ! I have been a fan since 1980 and I appreciate him more the older I get !
Thanks, MMB - every time Reese solos, you will see that at the end he raises his left hand - showing he's "out".. .SRV always gives him great credit -- lol
If you want to hear him sing more, listen to "Stevie Ray Vaughan - Life Without You - 9/21/1985 - Capitol Theatre, Passaic, NJ". He sings great and plays with his teeth and behind his back in this perfomance, it's awesom.
Had same-day surgery yesterday for carpal tunnel repair... for which I was awake with my arm numbed. One of the nurses asked me what music would I like to listen to. "STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN!" I said, without missing a beat. And she cued up a playlist. After the surgery, someone on the other side of the room said, "Now, THIS is what we should have playing all the time in here! Great pick!" It's proof that SRV can rock any room, even an operating room.
Oh, yes, Stevie can sing like an angel so sexy. His guitar work is off The chain Reese's keyboards are off the chain. Just an absolute beautiful song. Mary Had a Little Lamb. Thank you so much. Love you sooo much for jamming him🥰 You might. Want to check out? We were surfing around the TV last night and came across your TH-cam Channel. To say we enjoyed watching about a dozen of your react videos would be an understatement. We thoroughly enjoy your videos. We are HUGE SRV fans!
Stevie was the GOAT! His emotions flowed out thru his playing and nothing about him was rehearsed. Personally he was a very humble man never letting fame or money change him. He always held his blues hero's above himself and talked about them constantly. Stevie brought back the blues in the eighties and recharged many great blues guitar players careers when he played with them he never tried to steal the spotlight from them. We lost a legend the day he died.
Outstanding reaction! Loved it! I see Nick Crisp has put you on to Tin Pan Alley.......I can't wait until you react to that! We are so lucky to have that performance caught on video. You won't find a better version of Texas dirty pool blues. Be prepared to be blown away all over again. Since I missed the opportunity to introduce you to that..... May i interest you in another texas "Rock blues" group? Recently their bassist passed, but to that point they were together preforming for over 50 years... they are in their "70's" but I promise you (even with the replacement bassist) they STILL blow it up today. They have 50 years of music... So let me offer a video of them at 70 + years old... then you will see another hidden legend from Texas. here is a link to them live at gruene hall texas.... just practicing. The song is "Brown Sugar" th-cam.com/video/h50eAv9tjvA/w-d-xo.html
That 16th note strumming groove is just one of my absolute favorite things in all of blues guitar. It's amazingly fun, especially with a drummer, and bass player.
If you wanna hear his voice more listen to pride and joy unplugged on MTV plays a 12 string acoustic aswell but his voice is so clear and strong 🤘 watch the full unplugged show to be mind blown
There's something I noticed about this song. On the studio version he says the little lambs fleece was white as snow. But if you listen in this live version he says the little lambs fleece was black as coal.
Srv sings a song ain't gone n give up on love from capital theater also from capital theater couldn't stand the weather reese is great in that one to check it out
Stevie used to say when he first started singing it was like pulling teeth I guess he thought he didn't sing that good and was shy, but, just like his guitar playing his voice to as so special together they were the perfect match.
Hendrix was the innovator…Stevie was heavily influenced by his playing AND his sense of style…no one can deny that…Stevie took it to another level, but Hendrix should always be looked at as a pioneer in so many ways
Damn straight this man can sing! I freaking love his voice. Really unique, it's rough and smooth at the same time. Reese is just phenomenal, those fingers were made for keys. Try Dirty Pool (Montreux) and Leave my little girl Alone. Also, Cold Shot, and rarely requested, Change It, from Live Alive. ☮️to all
Jimmy Heendrix, Stevie Ray, Vaughan, Eric Clapton, Steve Vai, and so many other demi-god legends that are on the Olympus of guitar playing are unmatched and unforgettable
Thanks for reacting to another SRV song . I absolutely love this one and you should check out another of his greats " Look at Little Sister ". Also his band Double Trouble are top level musicians, especially Reece on the keys🔥🔥🔥❤️
If you want to see SRV push his guitar to the limits you need to check out Third Stone From the Sun live at El Mocambo. Don’t expect any vocals, but his rendition of the Jimi Hendrix song is amazing!
Albert King recorded that the year I was born, it's my favorite song and it turns out that it's also the theme song to my life lmao! Excellent suggestion by the way, Albert King and Stevie Ray Vaughan in Session should not be missed by anyone, ever!
@@deannacrownover3 I remember the original version from childhood and thinking “how sad “ and I loved it. I didn’t hear of “In Session “ until a some years ago thanks to TH-cam and I adore it.
8:25 "Just give me a second, I'm coming. Just give me a second." That's what she said! #groan. Yes I know. But I couldn't resist. Yeah man I only know this off that first album. And I love it it's just a very short song but it's so beautiful and it totally is it send up of the little children's song that we all learn you know. And it has one of the greatest riffs in the world to it. I often recommend it and I've never seen anybody react to it possibly because it's too short. But man I didn't even know this life footage of that existed. So thank you very much for opening this up for me man I'm loving it.
When SRV played people were stunned and in awe, have you seen the clip where a man walked up to Stevie and shook his hand while Stevie was in mid solo? SRV met Hendrix Dad and asked if he could play his music. The Dad gave SRV Jimi’s wah wah board and his blessings. Stevie was 13 when Jimi died. He also had dreams about Jimi….
That's a great story but it's an urban legend. Jimi traded one of his broken pedals plus $50 for a good one that Stevie's brother Jimmie had. At the time, Jimmie was opening for Jimi. Look it up.
Stevie is Stevie and there'll never be another guitar slinger like him come this way in our lifetimes. But I gotta give some love to his band, Double Trouble. The quintessential definition of living in the pocket in perpetuity. Chris Layton - Drums Tommy Shannon - Bass Reese Wynans - Keyboard Double Trouble was already a phenomenal collection of top shelf musicians with just Layton and Shannon but when they added Wynans in '85, this band left no roof intact. Such an unimaginable collection of talent that had nothing but the sky as its limit. Stevie's death left us all with a deep hole in our music-loving hearts, but I cannot imagine how much pain these guys had to work through. RIP slinger. No one did it better.
This song was written by Buddy Guy in1968 and he released it July 26, 1968, Buddy Guy is an amazing guitarist that was good friends with Stevie Ray they played together alot and Buddy Guy was one of the guys that performed With Stevie Ray in East Troy Wisconsin at the Alpine Valley Music Theater when Stevie Ray was killed in a helicopter crash. Eric Clapton said he was at a club called The Marquee Club in London when he saw Buddy Guy play in 1965 and Buddy Guy played with his guitar above his head, with his teeth and picked his guitar which you see Stevie Ray did alot. I saw Buddy Guy 5 yrs ago and he was insane he grabbed the drummers stick and started playing his guitar with the stick and he was sweating so bad he grabbed a towel wiped his face and started playing his guitar with the towel. If you ask me Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray and alot of guitarist were influenced by Buddy Guy but I don't think he gets the recognition as all the rest. Keyboardist Reese Wynans in November 1968 to March 1969 Wynans played in a band called The Second Coming with 2 founding members of a band that would become The Allman Brothers Band but Reese was squeezed out when Duane Allman decided he wanted his brother Gregg Allman to sing and play keyboard. Reese Wynans joined Double Trouble on June 7,1985..Tommy Shannon basses was in a band called Krackerjack in 1970 with Stevie Ray aka skeeter as Tommy Shannon knew him 😂 but left the group Krackerjack a few months later, Chris Layton joined Double Trouble September 10,1978.
It's a joy to see your joy! I highly recommend you watch the performance of Riviera Paradise from this same show on Austin, Texas. However, as much as I'd enjoy viewing your reaction, it would be a shame to interrupt the flow of this deeply touching instrumental. Let it just flow into you. He introduces the song by dedicating it to "anyone who is suffering any way". And it perfectly fulfills that mission.
Im totally grateful that these videos exist. SRV had nothing but respect for Hendrix. Same with Albert too.... and his praise doesn't come easy. It's also not hard to see why Eric Clapton's jaw hit the floor on more than one occasion while attending an SRV show. Clapton was intimidated to his core and had much to say (all high praise) regarding SRV's guitar playing. 🎸 Great reaction! Edit: would love to see a reaction from David Gilmore (pink Floyd) Pulse live show. Either "Money" or "Sorrow." This is a triple AAA class live production concert. Nothing but professionals on stage. From David all the way to the three vocally skilled backup singers and dancers.... this live production is a benchmark even for today's live shows.
subscribed. To see Stevie's full range of genius check out "Riviera Paradise" a song he wrote and considered to be his masterpiece at this same Austin City Limits 1989 show. for more solid blues Tin Pan Alley with Johnny Copeland at Montreux 1985.
Hendrix was an amazing composer, and a great player. Stevie is a better singer, and plays better. He just doesn't have as wide a scope to paint with that Hendrix did. Eddie Van Halen was a totally different kind of g.o.a.t. , different style of playing. There are about 2 dozen guitarists in rock that are all so in tune with their instrument through thousands of hours of noodling on the guitar at home on Friday and Saturday nights to learn their voice. And I can't think of 1 great guitarist that actually reads music, it is all by ear, and learning the scale positions, over and over and over.
The "CAT in the HAT with the STRAT"
About his attire. He was asked in an interview "where do you get your clothes?" Without missing a beat, Stevie said "oh, mainly at truck stops"
That is hilarious but I definitely believe it!
We lost so much when we lost Stevie.
The keyboard player is absolutely murdering it.... Stevie must have thought he died and went to heaven having him in his band...what a great player ....WOW...

I think this is his last tour. We caught him in Tulsa when he was 83, I think. All up in the seats with the fans, it was very cool.
Albert collins & buddy guy - guitar duel…..Albert shreds buddy
My husband and I saw Buddy Guy here in Traverse city Michigan and I'll tell you he is insane and so much fun, we had the best time.
Reese Wynans is amazing. SRV put together one of the best backing bands ever. And he paid them even split.

Please don't stop reacting to STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN!!!
For a live piano/ keyboard killer performance. Supertramp’s incredible Live in Paris “Child of Vision” and SRV gets you in your soul!!!
Smokin' hot blues!❤
You just love Texas blues Janice and Srv ARE from Texas ❤
It's a joy to see your joy! I highly recommend you watch the performance of Riviera Paradise from this same show on Austin, Texas. However, as much as I'd enjoy viewing your reaction, it would be a shame to interrupt the flow of this deeply touching instrumental. Let it just flow into you. He introduces the song by dedicating it to "anyone who is suffering any way". And it perfectly fulfills that mission.
At the 8:01 mark.... mind blown !!!!!! you could see it on your face.....lol
Great reaction!
This is what happens when four geniuses get together. 🤯
"I'm trying to keep my composure. " lol!! I'm subbing on the basis of that. :)))
subscribed. To see Stevie's full range of genius check out "Riviera Paradise" a song he wrote and considered to be his masterpiece at this same Austin City Limits 1989 show. for more solid blues Tin Pan Alley with Johnny Copeland at Montreux 1985.
he had heavier strings on his guitar than most and he would have to crazy glue his split fingernails to keep playing....thats monster playing ❤
This song should be shown in all the pre schools and kindergartens as educational. Let them see the all mighty groove.
Love you're comments on the music!!!
The G O A T!
He always wears a Western look, he’s from Texas! The fastest gun in Texas! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥👏🔥🔥
