      I personally wouldn't call it free thinking to assume that every single thing on the news is a lie. Free thinking is discernment, you think and judge for yourself, don't fall in love with any single perspective, ie all news is true, or all news is fake news, they're both two sides of a binary.

It's unbelievable, how did this happen to the DIY, anti-establishment, artpunk underground?! Art and comedy...pfffffhtthh, gone in 2021 thanks to these dorks who are seen as the 'cool kids' of their generation. Imagine if they went back in time to the 1990s underground music and art 'scenes'. Oh dear.

    • @thomaspaaruppedersen6781
      @thomaspaaruppedersen6781 3 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      @@rolandschneider1741 It goes to the ability of a 20-year old, barely awake to myriad of conflicting aspects of navigating the world, to assess his - or my - beliefs about races. And yes, I adhere to the 'old' definition of racism. The new 'everyone who not black is a racist because they live in a society where blacks on average fare worse than whites' is bullshit. It's useless. Because if everyone is a racist just for living in a certain place then what's the point in using that term. Meanwhile, the term 'racist' evokes some really nasty connotations which very few people whishes to associate themselves with, so it becomes a weapon against which there is no defense. Btw. it was never an argument but more a feeling of "You don't get to judge me based on near-zero knowledge of me or my values and possibly a snippet of what I've said, taken out of context."

I am a musician in the Jam/Hippie/EDM Festival scene > but it’s worth running into them and dismissing their outrageous talking points with humorous banter aka “omg is this guy serious?” type of humor. It’s the only method I’ve seen work because if you get people laughing then the spirit of wholeness will feel *shame* which ultimately is an analogue of *guilt* which is the what they let pursuance them in these discussions (not rationale)

    I was a teacher for 23 years, and I agree with Steve whole-heartedly. I had so many students who were labeled ADD, ADHD, etc. long before the parents and system allowed them to simply grow up and be a child. Insane! Colleagues always asked me, "How did you make him/her do that!?" I would reply, "I didn't make him/her do anything. I let him/her be & explore the topic." Simple, but so hard for teachers and adults to do, who want to control children (for classroom management). You can't. You can guide them through discipline, common sense, and kindness, but you can't control them. Now, many of them are out on the streets, rioting, or losing themselves, taking drugs. And still, the system and the "community" look the other way. I, personally wish I could help, but am not sure what to do. So much has gone amok and apeshit crazy.

    I'm a 13 years younger, Australian woman and I was brought up thinking and speaking the way Steve does.
    Then along comes political bloody correctness, which put a major spanner in my upbringing. Which in turn, makes everything very confusing for me.

      I've visited many places in the US on biz trips, and I can honestly say that the best times I've had were in the southern states, with southerners. There's a base level of politeness and respect there that the rest of the country doesn't have. I'm ashamed of all the Hollywood-driven stereotypes I believed about the south as a child growing up in the UK. And don't think for one moment that any of this was by accident...

    • @betsyj59
      @betsyj59 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I've thought about this for years. The "south" has been used as the corporate approved liberal punching bag for a very, very long time, used as an "enemy within" onto which liberals could project (in the Freudian sense) all their own repressed and disavowed behavior and traits. More recently, the "south" as been replaced by the "Trumpster" - southern and mid-western non-college educated ex-workers whose jobs were outsourced abroad. Interesting how those people are now considered "the enemy within," the very people whose lives the global corporatists have destroyed have been made into the vehicle onto which educated liberals can project their repressed fantasies (and march along to the corporatist tune without ever having to admit that is what they are doing).
