I’ve always seen Nacho and Walter as mirror opposites. Not to say Nacho is perfect, but he’s stuck in the dark trying to claw his way out into the light; Walt had the good life and couldn’t help but always claw back into the dark.

People of my generation and Jimmy's absolutely use the term headshrinker or shrink. Very common in personal conversations. The younger people may not but they do understand the term at least. Lots of things my parents said aren't used anymore either, like when have you heard a woman's legs referred to as gams anymore or police as flatfoots.

I like to think there is a parallel universe where Mike marry the lovely black lady, he open a woodwork shop and she bake delicious pies. the writers are clever to go out of their way to point out that chuck's letter is undated... its up to the viewer to decide if he actually felt that way or not. you guys perfectly touched on this in the discussion. jimmy clearly doesnt think the letter means much after their last conversation.

when the guy who is sleeping in his office because the wife is mad at him orders pizza he says "yes, sliced, please". That is in reference to when badger from bb says that there is a pizza place where they don't slice the pizza so they can "pass the savings on to you". And of course the reason the Pizza Walter threw on to the top of the roof was not sliced.

nacho get connected to mike when mike works as bodyguard to the naive guy.

I don't know if you made the connection that Jimmy knows all about how much those little figurines are worth because of his elderly client from S1 who was leaving them to her family in her will.

Kim isn't bored. She feels some sort of guilt about what happened to Chuck. And she wants to do some good pro bono work to get over that guilt.

One of the things I like about this episode is how it shows the contrast for Jimmy between how "criminals" handle things vs how "honest people" handle things. Previously, the 2 "honest" guitar store owners went back on their promise to buy more ads from Jimmy, and he had to do his Slippin' Jimmy routine to get a pay out. Contrast that with how the "criminal" who sold the statue, and could've kept the extra money for himself - instead gave Jimmy his half without any hassle. Definitely another part of how/why he eventually becomes a "criminal" lawyer.

Stealing Bavarian boy isn’t a small time job, Mike would be making more than he got for protecting Mr Wormald. He didn’t do the job because he doesn’t wanna steal from people who aren’t “in the game”

Kim likely shredded and rewrote that letter. Why else cry. She is so self absorbed that her own words touched her.

This is how it’s gonna be when my mom dies. It’s all the blabla, it’s not personal but very general. Kim was more neglected as a child I think than gaslit, so she reacts emotionally when she hears nice things, even if it’s a bit general. I’m like that and couldn’t always understand why I would cry and be so emotional. It’s everything she wants to hear. Jimmy sees it as just another way for Chuck to show off after he’s dead.

The Verdict. Oh man, that's a must watch. Paul Newman is absolutely stellar and should have won the Oscar that year.

Also - I’ve always said the same comparison about Jesse and nacho. I feel like they’re both “the heart” of the show - the “good guy” comparatively. (Obviously as you stated, both still commit awful crimes, but they both have a conscience and try to do the best they can, compared to the other people around them who typically have no morals.)

Nacho got connected to Mike through Nate from the Office. Nate from the Office technically doesn't have a hearing problem but sometimes when theres a lot of noises he hears them as one big jumble. It's not that he can't hear thats false he can.

Chuck was fine with Jimmy being a lowly mailroom boy. That's who he thought Jimmy deserved to be. Stuck doing nothing of importance for the rest of his life, as the inferior to Chuck. This was the most OK Chuck ever got with Jimmy.

Having the vet as the "doctor" is a tribute to crime novelist Jim Thompson aka "The Dime-Store Dostoevsky." A lot of his novels took place in Texas and New Mexico.
