It sounds nasty. Theres good lo-fi and then theres this. I wanted to like this product but they're not making it easy. Perhaps Ill give it another look when it matures a bit and improved with a few updates.

Algernon Franklin nah, the artist/record company won’t see a dime as there is no tracking of sales. Most productions (about 99%) won’t ever leave the bedroom let alone find a podium or paid platform. The Boombap era is long gone and money is being made elsewhere.
Out of all the 2400 beats i heard here on TH-cam so far this is the best 1 when it comes to Boombap. This 1 is more updated. The other dudes are stuck in the early 90s.

Some steps have changed as it relates to sampling (much simpler now) so make sure to check the official Isla instruments video tutorial by Alex Ball as well.
Being so new at it, there is still a lot of pausing to think and second guessing edit points. I'll try and do another one in a month or so once I am more confident and deliberate!
not long since got a s2400 and when i press shift and file and scroll down through the menu format sd card isnt there at the bottom of the menu am i doing something wrong ? or is the os layer different on older s2400 i have a verbatim sd card

To get the proper levels for Your samples I noticed you are adjusting the input gain knob on the rear... Is there a way to do the same task via the LCD screen/menu ?
I think I'm going mad, if I hit Loop/Slice and A it doesn't bring up the waveform editor at all, it just turns on overwrite... I know there's been a firmware update but for the life of me I can't find how to access the wave editor... Been looking in the manual for the last hour! 😔

No doubt. I have 2x MPC LIve that I've never updated past 2.5 for that reason. They destroyed the usability of the SP1200 ring effect, and I have asked them numerous times to bring back the variable parameters to no avail. Now if I use the Live II, I always save and then open in MPC Live I with 2.5 so I can tweak the ring effect to taste. I personally think when used by an actual Sp1200 owner who knows the sound you can get VERY close.
BPM is established by drums. I generally figure out rough pitch for sample in MPC before I speed up to sample into 2400. The rest is just messing around until I find something I like.
There is no comparison. They are COMPLETELY different pieces of gear. If you do not want the "SP sound" this purchase would be pointless in my opinion.
Every machine has it's own sound. Personally I really love the sound of the 2400. If you check out my IG @chaz_emphatic I have done an A/B comparisons between the 1200 and 2400. Since you mentioned MPC Vintage Mode, most people don't realize that OS v2.5 has the last variable "SP1200 ring" effect which if dialed in (dry/wet mix is esp important) can sound as good as any emulation. After that firmware version they made it fixed and the effect now sounds awful. I've written them numerous times about this but until they bring it back my MPC is staying on 2.5.

@@tinktwiceman The videos I've posted are direct line in from my main mixer, so you can listen on a good system and form your own opinion as to the characteristics of sound. However, do note I am using all the "classic" settings so there's a whole range of flavors you can extract by using diff sample rates, Hifi audio engine, etc. The simplest thing I can say is you're going to need to play with one to know if it's right for you!

It doesn't sound great on that high-pitched sound, but the artifacts on the finished beat are definitely working for me.
