In a way, I think the coast guard can be either any thomas OC (like Joey from the stories of sodor series) or any human character. An OC can work if they're an authority figure and a human can work just as well, but feel a little off and could make thomas versions of stuff like high winds difficult. As for Davy jones, he can either be Winston or an officer named "Davy" or "Jones"
I always see boats like the coast guard and Davy Jones around the docks and pier in Dun Laoghaire. Speaking of which, if you’ve seen the Tugs annuals, there are a few boats that appear which look like the coast guard, although they could possibly be the coast guard himself, although it’s always possible that there’s another coast guard boat in a port, especially one as big as Bigg City Port.
Davy Jones reminds me of the station master in the episode Trouble In The Shed becquse both characters relay important information to characters who need to know that information to address the situation at hand.
I never noticed the speeding boat that zoomed by OJ had a face. Granted the only TUGS episodes i've seen more than once are Jinxed, Quarantine and Up River cos of the sole VHS i own, so i had no idea it was a prop reuse of a one-off character.
Thanks Gilbert! I do plan to eventually cover all RWS stories that weren't adapted for TV, so I'll most likey do Triple Header & Stop Thief in one video! 🙃
Great job on this video, its been awhile hasnt it? Since i have commented but i have come back to say that its great like always 👍, i do know these two characters arent really fleshed out but i really do like them, espically "cappie" Or better known david juns or somethin lol
I do plan on doing some more in depth videos talking about specific characters in the show, so this will probably get covered during Tugs Month. Thanks Pauline!
Haha well I haven't really talked about it since when I first mentioned it in the yearly update video back in January. It'll be in October. Over the past few years, Ocotber has always seemed to be the best time of year to be a Tugs fan, as that's when we always seem to get new revelations and the such regarding the franchise. Also Ocotber is my birth month 😂
I think you have a point in comparing these two characters to the policemen in Thomas, as they are technically law enforcement. The main differences being that they uphold the law of the harbor and appear more frequently compared to Tugs sister series. Heck, I can imagine the Coast Guard or Davy Jones reprimand Ten Cents for a situation akin to lacking a cowcatcher or sideplates. What the marine vessel equivalent is, I don't know.
why do you dislike salty's lighthouse, sl coast guard and his messenger are the same characters but went by cappy, also johnny cuba's sl counterpart is nice and called steamer
@@cindersandashesuk5744 Coast Guard is an Authoritarian Figure in Tugs who gives orders like Sir Topham Hatt give to his engines. They expect to follow them. Similar ities in both. Davy Jones is messenger type and keeps lookout like Harold does.
I'm old enough to remember when the fandom didn't know Davy Jones' name and we just called him "Cappie"
Was the Cappie name something from Salty's Lighthouse? I vaguely remember reading that's where the Cappie misnomer came from.
@@DaimosZ Yeah, I'm pretty sure that was it.
@@Randomstuffs261 I was gonna say that's why it sounded familiar.
The smallest boats have the biggest reasons to respect them.
Fire Tug
He's next in line!
If the relationship between the Coast Guard and Davy had been more fleshed out, I could see them as the Victor and Kevin of the show.

The coast guard is my favorite character 😅 I love his model 😁
Finally knowing that I’m not the only one
Probably my favorite model in the series along side Davy, Billy, and TopHat. The Coast Guard also has one of my favorite themes

its the shrimpers
You might be thinking of the port authority and the customs launch.

An apt comparrison!

2:09 to 2:16 I'm glad U had that clip in there
Cause it makes me wonder how fast Davy & Coastie can REALLY go like a 🚤
The short king himself. I love that although Coast Guard's one of the smaller boats, that doesn't make his authority any less, which is awesome.
I like thise video! these two are rather obscure but neat
Thanks Eduardo! They certainly are pretty obscure!
Neat! Best wishes!

Another great video Cinder! I'd like to see you make a video on how you would adapt Triple Header!

Davy Jones counter parts from harold the helicopter and i know you don’t have a tugs profiles that counter parts from harold right?
Not right now I don't. What makes you say Harold?
cause when harold see an accident in thomas and friends he tell sir topham hatt about the accident
Hi, #Cinders And Ashes. Can you possibly do the friendship groups in Tugs, please?

Hey You forgot about Sally seaplane. "Hello Sally". I want to see a profile video of Sally seaplane.
Just because she hasn't been done yet doesn't mean that I forgot her.
Coast guard similar to Sir Topham Hatt, maybe? 😅 Davy jones to Harold the Helicopter. 😊
Interesting comparrisons, what made you pick them?
