It's a little known fact that Triumph tried to build a watch in the mid 1970's but they gave up because they couldn't figure out how to make it leak oil.

It's not just this microbrand, but I'm having a hard time with $ 500-600 USD being the new normal. I've slowed down in my collecting and becoming more methodical with my purchases. Watches in this price range are no longer impulse buys, and when they inevitably sell out, I lose interest.

It’s a very attractive watch! Particularly fond of the unusual turns they took with the case design. British watch makers have a lot to offer the world of watchmaking with respect to design, so I hope these guys are successful.
The tiny crown is a head-scratcher though. Design is usually an iterative process. Surely someone at their shop gave it a couple twists and thought, “well that’s unpleasant, what if we changed that?”

I received my Seeker three days ago and it is *FANTASTIC!* I went with the dark blue dial on a black leather strap. The packaging was wonderful and there was a hand-written thank you card along with all the usual cards. Mine did not have that automatic text on the dial.
It wears nicely and has run @ -4 seconds per day. I think it is a fine dress watch and I don't disagree with your thoughts on that crown.
Overall, I am very happy with the watch and the wonderful communication from the company. I think it was a great value ($499 with free shipping) compared to say another Seiko or other major brand in the price range.

I like the overall design and think the salmon dial is a winner. The simple logo reflected in the lollypop major indices and between the O and F in Beaucroft is just elegant. Give me a 41mm salmon dial on a 20mm mesh, and I'm a buyer!

I've owned a couple of the Geckota watches from the Brits. As far as this watch, it would look small on my 8 inch wrist. I do like the color of that teal one though. Would've liked to have seen you swap straps. That mesh on the teal and I think the brown strap on the salmon may have been a better match? Anyway, great review as usual Jody!

  • @bagpiper
    @bagpiper ปีที่แล้ว +1

I like both the colors on this. As the strap is - well, what is is - that makes the mesh strap all the more appealing. I see the point about the crown. It looks similar to a few of my fleiger style watches. Yeah, L'd go for this were it a bit closer to my budget.

Funny isn't it, I love that colour strap with the teal dial! I think that combo looks masculine enough too, although I think I'd want it two to three mm bigger ideally. I have some vintage watches I often wear which are 36mm, but they all have a thinner looking bezel (or none, effectively).

I have several 37mm watches already so a good size for me. In teal it's a nice dial, handset and crystal. Not so keen on the case or crown. Without a date it's not going to be a daily so it doesn't need to be an auto getting rid of the rotor wobble.

This one is really nice too very much like the design language and the fact it’s a no date which keeps thing clean. 37mm is an unusual size but looks like it wears well on your 7” wrist Jody. A great, even-handed video.
There doesn't seem to be very much "Cambridge" about this other than the name. I think they've made a bit of a misstep in terms of their logo choice - it's apparently based on the King's College clock. That is guaranteed to get the backs up of anyone who went to one of the other 30 colleges. A bit like releasing an official England football watch with the Man Utd shield as it's logo.
Still, nice to see more classically sized options sub-38mm.
Is the debris and dust in the macro shots on the dial or the outside of the crystal?

Any chance you'd ever check out Mr. Jones watches, Jodi?

Thanks for introducing me to this!! Not heard of the watch or the brand before.
Weighing up a teal / brown leather one; the only thing giving me pause for thought is whether it’s maybe a touch too small (I’m a dude). Think I’ll sleep on it…
Definitely the most compelling option from a (to me) unknown brand in a long time.

Can I ask if you ordered after sleeping in it?

Bauhaus dial and second hand look great. Don't like the choice of hour and minute hands
