Yes.. that is the person who did "La-Hee" that is Soken... our Savior who is to good for this world, writing a song Dedicated to the fans of FFXIV while in the hospital battling f'ing Cancer... "The Primals" Is essentially his band.. and FFXIV's band.
The Primals truly are the prayers made by the community made by the community after Nobuo stepped down as lead OST director after ARR. We wished for it and Primals came to be, and now we’re all enthralled by them as is true to their lore of all Primals in XIV.
@@LaccreVT I'm a little hazy on the details, so please someone correct me if I'm wrong, but Soken, the lead composer (I think) was diagnosed with cancer, and it took a turn for the worse while they were making Shadowbringers. He essentially worked from the hospital and thought he wouldn't live to see Shadowbringers finished, but miraculously, he went into remission and was able to recover. They kept all of this hidden from the community until he was fully recovered and he gave a truly heartbreaking thank you speech during the Final Fantasy Festival, essentially FF14's version of Blizzcon.
Im so happy to see s reaction to another one of sokens " what was going through his mind when he did this.... Ah probably wanted to have some fun" moments.
The Primals are a band that does a lot of music in the game, headed up by the music director Soken (who we all love and adore) and includes other devs. It's a rock band made up of XIV Devs and it's AMAZING.
the only devs in the band are Soken and Koji Fox, the other members are older professional musicians who are friends of Soken. Gunn Lee has been in 3 other bands (the DEPTH, TheSOS, ultraUB) Eikichi Iwai has been a bassist for a dozen other bands, notably Chirinuruwowaka. Tetsuyu Tachibana has been in the bands Be Modern, The Band Has No Name, & Sparks Go Go
Now listen to the English version from the game. It's so 90s anime intro and it's amazing. The violin part in this piece is so good. I'm also about 90% sure the wolf headed guy is former lead translator and lyric writer for many songs Michael Christopher Koji-Fox.
Btw this is ANOTHER VERSION of the song - this song of course was composed by Masayoshi Soken (and why version you watched exists) BUT in-game proper it has female vocals instead performed by Amanda Achen and the whole theme is about generations of female Mi'qote (the catgirls, specifically of the nocturnal "The Keeper of the Moon" ethnicities) Grandmother to Mother to Daughter following into each other steps in the coming of age ceremony under the guiding moonlight of their patron Moon goddess Menphina, The Lover. (yep, FF14 has lore and songs dedicated not to just races but specific to certain ethnicities of these races).
OH, duh... "Close in the Distance" performed by 1000 members of the FFXIV community. The song is one of the most impactful in the game when you reach that point, but listening to it ahead of time won't spoil it with the lyrics. I think there ARE a few scenes in the video, but nothing I would expect to spoil anything since you have no context of them, what's going on, or when they take place.

@@LaccreVT Just search for "Dedicated to Moonlight with lyrics" and it should be easy to find a video.
The pose when Soken was on the floor was the play dead emote for male Lalafells, no idea why they have their butt in the air.

The Primals in concert at NA FanFest were amazeballs. Soken is a treasure and Koji Fox is hilarious.
