vergil is great for RG practicing, his summon swords and judgement cut are very telegraphed. and if you're big brained you can also guard his dt attacks too
Cavaliere is that one boss that no matter who you're playing as or what difficulty you're on, his fight will always have you pumped from start to finish.

I hate how Capcom leaked so much of the game before it was even out. I avoided almost all of the post-E3 trailers and then got spoiled by TH-cam recommendations that Vergil was going to be the final boss just a few days before it came out and I was so fucking pissed

he was presumably weakened by his fight with V so he retreated, whereas he was at his full power when going against Dante, plus Dante had DSS and he had to take it, so he went full on
He had a mission to accomplish when he retreated from V, to find and destroy the Sparda. When Dante got the sword he had no choice but to fight him for it. Don't forget Cavalier is an artificial demon created by Urizen, basically a slave to orders
