18:00 You can hold up Metallic Rebuke if you use the Frogmite to make mana off of the Moonsnare and hold back the Sojourner, since that leaves a Springleaf Drum to make mana off of the germ token and two artifacts (Sojourner and the equipment) untapped for improvise.
3:05 if they let the scry resolve couldnt lsv just cast a frogmite if he had it? They wouldnt get priority to stop that so that might be the reason they boseiju'd right away
@@fseccoYes, but if they let scry resolve and LSV plays Frogmite afterwards, they still can Boseiju with Frogmite on the stack, so before Frogmite enters the battlefield. So the Frogmite won't trigger Synthesizer because it will be gone when Frogmite enters the battlefield. It would be different when Synthesizer triggered on cast.
Extremely hard to cast consistently + often times you have to play your ornithopter to generate the colour to cast satoru with springleaf drum, defeating the purpose. Also not an artifact, which lowers your chances of casting things like soujourners compantion for free, again defeating the purpose.
I think the yawg game demonstrates how powerful this deck is. Even on the back foot against PYP and FOV you still almost strung something together. Sick deck cant wait to play it.
Spire of industry looks a lot worse than island in this mono blue deck. Some small percentage of the time is saves you one life for dismember. Looks like an oversight.
QUESTION: with Dismember in your sideboard, why not run the Blue/Black Artifact lands instead of the Blue/Green ones on the off-chance you want to spend Black mana rather than 2 life to cast Dismember? Is there a reason to run Tanglepool Bridge I'm not seeing?
@@tastyhaze2058 I did think about it. You're just not running enough creatures to make that viable. I've I've ended up replacing them with the lady of the lake from OG eldrain and from the same set the x cost snake as it's a one mana memnite that can also trigger as a three drop and holds the equipment pretty well. Alternative to options were the gingerbread man for similar reasons except for being a three drop.
more constructed videos please! while I enjoy limited the most, variety is nice, and watching LSV play eternal formats (particularly vintage and legacy) is fun
Halo hopper wasn’t on many people’s radar but it IS strictly better than frog mite, I can see playing them both in this deck but no halo hopper is a suboptimal choice
Halo Hopper has convoke, you actually have to tap things to play it while Frogmite is actually free. "Strictly better" is just not at all correct in this situation - every noncreature artifact in the deck does nothing to reduce its cost.
Simulacrum synthesizer did ** all in the league.. 3cmc, then find something else 3cmc+ to cast before it does anything is too slow for Modern, prove me wrong. I could see running a miser's copy or two in the main, but at that point running the support pieces - i.e. Frogmite - doesn't look as attractive. I honestly think the better Affinity card from the set is Lavaspur Boots and that the best Affinity deck is one that goes harder with Cranial Plating and/or Ravager
I think you may prove to be correct with your answer. I am no Affinity expert but I do play the deck. Also I am building a very similar deck to try out. I just wish Synthesizer wasn't like $45, but the 4th one should arrive today. This deck seems to want to do one thing. That one thing is crap out construct tokens that are huge and win the game off of them. The issue, like you said and others are finding out is that this is to slow to consistently win PLUS it has the negative hate cards game 2 and 3. I do think there is an solution to make this work though, in that perhaps it would make more sense to run more rebukes and counter magic in the main to slow the game down a bit. If the opponent misses a turn or gets a key card countered that could buy enough time for this deck to go off. These are just my thoughts though and the current iteration of trying to jam a Synthesizer down on turn 2 just doesn't really work consistently enough. I do feel like Synthesizer is a card that can be abused and perhaps in Affinity, but it just isn't there yet. I could see this card going way down in price in a few months OR someone cracks the code and it doubles in price. Since I just bought 4 of them, I would bet that it drops in price :-)
@@SteveMichael I would predict the price to drop, then rise once more support pieces are printed, or a competitive deck around the card emerges. I think you are correct that deck will contain more interaction to help deploying the game plan game 1, and hamper hate cards games 2 and 3. I wouldnt be surprised if a card like Reality Heist would be featured
Manabase seems like it's far from optimal, probably copied from another list and then changing the deck around it. also no Jegantha seems wild in this deck, surely a mistake

It shows the resilience of Urza's saga

I used it on an UB Affinity list. Pure Insanity, too much card advantage
8 days late but if you're still interested in Satoru in this deck Magic Aids made that video a lil bit ago and it performed pretty good!
Why wasn't Thought Monitor the play here instead of the Moonsnare? 28:30
I'd be honored to play against LSV. In paper so I can get that autograph. Congrats on the twins.

Also the Green and White tap lands vs 0 Black tap lands when the only non blue card is Dismember... not a refined list.
There's green in sideboard with Mite.
Are you guys being purposely dense or have you never played with Mite? It requires green to sacrifice.
Totally missed haywire mite. Disregard.

@@caydenong3128lol missed that, thanks!
Not a modern player here, but everyone loves affinity! Just wondering why affinity doesn't play Emry, is it too slow?
The 2 Razortide Bridge should be 2 Mistvault Bridge for Dismember, right?
This deck is a beauty
That's a nice lookin haircut tho LSV! Reminds me I need to go get one..

try 4x Emry shell
I dont get the spires of industry in a mono blue deck. Wouldnt basic island be objectively better?
