Cher has been making music since Elvis was alive and is still going strong! The only solo act to have a #1 song on a Billboard Chart in SEVEN CONSECUTIVE DECADES. In 2023 she became the oldest person ever to have a top 40 song at age 77!
I remember the first time I saw Burlesque, not being too familiar with her work, and she came on the screen and I couldn’t take my eyes off of her. A true star.
I remember once she was talking about how her mother taught her to handle negative events in her life. She said that her mother taught her that if it doesn’t matter in a year, (or some length or time) it doesn’t matter. In other words, bad things pass, don’t dwell on them.
No, SOME bad things pass, not all, dear. Her mother taught her to differentiate between temporary setbacks and trully awful things, not just to dismiss everything ''bad'' as you suggested.
I am almost Cher’s age and have admired her in every way since I first saw and heard her & Sonny. I will never understand how she was so sharply critiqued for wardrobe, when I remember Barbra Streisand accepting the Oscar dressed in a black see through pant suit that shocked and was such news then. How the unoriginal and clearly blatant “look at me” attempts by female entertainers, celebrities, newsmakers, etal, that barely have anything on and it isn’t fashion or well done nor is their body suited for it. She never had to imitate a person to be noticed (Ie K. Kardashian/Marilyn Monroe). She has enormous talent, she is by all accounts a generous and nice person w/o tantrums and lies. She has proven herself to be a well respected talent in singing, acting, comedy, drama, and has a wickedly honest sense of humor and isn’t afraid to admit to her struggles and successes and all else life has thrown at her. Bob Mackie made her style world renown and Cher definitely had the body and savvy to carry that to the top . It’s just unreal that other examples of comparisons are ignored when the critics point to Cher . What trots around the red carpet now or is seen in public at some random event or everyday life is a joke. And when someone mentions reinventing themselves…..Cher was way, way ahead of the pack in that, too. That’s usually all others have to offer is a photo op shock value nano second compared to a woman who has lasted in this business since she began in 1965 as a teen, carrying a #1 hit every decade of her career, along with Oscar, Emmy, Grammy, Golden Globe, Kennedy Honors, etc etc . Cher is the real deal . Few others in the business equal her talents, honesty, moxie and success.

@@MelissaThompson432 Well...Barely. She really wasn't that stunning in it. Cher has proved right away she belonged up there with the best. She won best actress at the Cannes film festival in 1985 and that's the most prestigious film festival on the planet with an international jury of all nationalities with varied sensibilities. What's more, they really felt they had to give it to her that year cause it was actually a tie which , in that very case, doesn't diminish the accomplishment. The other recipient was a much respected argentinian actress , Norma Aleandro, the sort of dedicated actress who hails from the most prestigious national training school and the most legitimate theatre, an Argentinian Meryl Streep or Vanessa Redgrave if you see what I mean and she was in the sort of politically committed movie about the aftermath of argentinian dictatorship, the sort of heavy subject they favor in such a festival and she was indeed marvelous so if the jury hadn't felt Cher was in any way as worthy a recipient for the award as Norma Aleandro, they wouldn't have bothered making it a tie. The fact she got the award too actually speaks volume about the quality of her acting, deemed on a par with the other great recipient and she was so humble and gracious receiving it, acknowledging Aleandro, arguably less famous worldwide but also more "legitimate" at that point, with a nod and a smile, giving a short speech and leave it to Norma Aleandro to round up the event by giving a longer one. They were both beautiful to watch. And three years on , she got her oscar of course for what is arguably the most beautiful part in a comedy in the 80's. A rich , deep one that was more than a comedy. So Madonna , who 's always been dry like a peach without pulp, could learn a lesson or two in all-round talent. Cher's the real stuff because she oozes humanity ( if one is willing to see beyond all the folklore of her looks).

Honesty sure is super refreshing..!
theres noone more deserving of her status as a goddess than Cher. She symbolises so much positivity and progressive punk attitude. I absolutely adore her.
Cher has a great sense of humour - she has just always been her authentic self - and answers questions honestly -------

I'm 48 years old and have loved Cher since I was like 10 years old. She was always ahead of her time especially when it came to women and feminism.
Always had and always will be one of the real ones. Her honesty is captivating 💜💜💜
