it absolutely is i couldn't get into the dead island games they were to boring atleast dying light has parkour and those fun ass volatile chases dying light 2 also has far better zombies compared to dead island 2.
The thing is Dying Light is grittier by default, you are supposed to avoid the zombies, that's why the parkour system is so good and fleshed out, thing is, unless you are ultra overpowered, zombies will quickly overwhelm you, this was the same in DL1, stick to the rooftops, Dead Island 2 is pretty good, to me it seems like a vacation from something like DL, both are good, for their own things. The first time i played DL2 the npc audio for all of the cutscenes was busted and even the after game cutscence was just a black screen so i had to slog through the story after they hot fixed it lmfao
i kinda liked dying light 2. Sure it wasn't too engaging. but the fighting and movement mechanics were spot on. It tried to do more, i feel like the game was more of a demo for the company. a way for them to discover more about the game engine. I have a good feeling about Dying light: the beast. Dead Island 2 is really good. but this was a decade of improvement on the original game. A more fleshed out series, rather than showing off whats new. Dead island was made for more story, Dying light was made for movement action. Edit: i even played pirated versions of both games. all of different versions through the months of updating. and i have never seen a game breaking, or even any glitches that people have said dying light 2 has. Im thinking their PC's weren't up to spec. graphical and game bugs can happen because of data leaks or lack of available memory.
i wish dying light had the fun factor dead island has, a world that was there for the player to just have fun and not worry too much about story and choices and instead about making the parkour feel as fun and intuitive as it can, aswell as the combat being just as satisfying as dead island 2, that would be awesome, oh and, closer buildings instead of skyscrapers relying on paragliders, we want to jump from roof to roof, not slowly gliding.
the dying light 2 gameplay and zombies are far better then dead island 2's the combats alot funner aswell i couldn't get into dead island 2 i tried to give it atleast 5 hours but it didn't click for me like dying light 2 did im also a fan of the first dying light game and i hated the first dead island aswell.
dying light 2 on release was the worst thing imaginable now imo better then dead island 2 yea yea some people say player counts dont matter 7k+ 24hr peak while dead island 2 has 1k no hate for dead island 2 though for steam
Dead island 2 was mid and didnt crush expectations, so many loadin screens like in the old games that reminds me of a game out of xbox 360 times, and dying light 2 feels like a next gen game with mid story and they have fixed kind of everything from zombies gore effect and the zombies themselves to nights skys and dying light 2 on ultra settings with raytracing on look definently better than dead island 2.
Dl2 is still a dar better game than di2.yes the gore, and the graphics are better in di2 but un other areas dl2 is far superior and no one can deny that.
I’ve watched people play dead island 2 and it lowkey looks like it blows the combat is mid the bosses are repetitive Unlike dying light 2 which has multiple different bosses and the combat is a lot more fluid the storyline was also a lot better than dead island

The Dying Light 2 story is legitimately soooo boring. I was with it for about 2 hours and then I started skipping everything, but in its current state, the gameplay is really fun. However, I feel that the Dead Island 2 gameplay, although fun, is annoying as the zombies feel like sponges; probably because of the character not really reacting when hitting zombies. Still both great games tho. Didn't like how I had to wait a year for DI2 to come to steam. 🙃
For me after 200h of gameplay DL2 is mid in every aspect even in aspect of parkour. I didn’t played Dead Island 2 but it looks like game with few things which are done right
Dead Island 2 having objectively better combat? That's just wrong in my eyes because it basically only focuses on melee snd ranged combat but they are very well made while Dying Light 2 has both melee and ranged combat (a little less well done than Dead Island 2) plus they both mix very well with parkour combat which is very well made. I'm basically saying it's subjective. I think you're biased towards Dead Island 2 given you're describing DL2's combat as a drop kick simulator while you described Dead Island 2's combat accurately. I'd say both games have their place in the market but the true reason for DL2's failure is the horrible development cycle which made the story have some plot holes and didn't give developers enough time to finish anything added in the game properly. Plus the buggy launch impacted the game heavilly.
Exactly how I feel with DL2. The amount of talking and story just bored me to hell. It wasn't either interesting or engagin and by the time I wanted to kill a Zombie, I had already downed way too many living thugs. DI2 knows what it is and delivers it well. It has to be one of my favorite zombie games, right alongside Resident evil 2/2 remake.
I thought dying light 2 was significantly better than dead island 2. In every way except the gore.
